It was late. It wasn't necessarily a problem, considering that Levy was inherently a night owl. Sleep had never come naturally to him and thus he spent a lot of time reading or sitting awake waiting for sleep to finally seize him.

That didn't mean he wasn't tired, it just usually was exhaustion stretched over a long period of time rather than at the appropriate hours. Salandit silently perched on the ground beside him, fixatedly staring at a single spot as if it may suddenly move.

A report of strange noises throughout the submarine didn't seem necessarily odd to him. They were in a submarine after all. Didn't these things normally creak and groan from water pressure and normal... watery things? So it hardly seemed odd to him, if anything it was probably a waste of time put on new recruits so that they would lose sleep. Or maybe it was a prank and he was about to be thoroughly humiliated and not want to leave his room again like a pissy teenager.

Luckily, or maybe unluckily (?), he wasn't alone in this grueling activity of patrolling a stagnant underwater vessel. "Margot, I'm assuming? Or are you here to tell me I've officially wasted my time?" Maybe the disrespect and disregard was laid on thick. He was no longer in a position to tell or remotely care, at least not right then.

[attr="class","margot i"]truthfully, she's only here to make whatever's causing noise shut the fuck up so she can sleep. it's not out of any good in her body (she has none) nor any consideration for her submarine dwellers (none of that either). it's simply... restless spirits are annoyingly loud when they want to be and it's always at the crack of dawn when she hasn't slept in days.

she cares little for disrespect, disregard, or any other dis he could provide. sharp teeth flash regardless and a hollow sort of grin (or is it a grimace) rises.

"margot."

she carries on without missing a beat.

"your time being makes no difference to me."

and really, it doesn't. she doesn't even care about hers in an odd sort of way. dark circles beneath eerie light blue provide more context than words can. and somehow, the one beneath her scarred eye almost makes the jagged edges dance in an odd, disjointed sort of way.

"find the source yet?" so she can go to bed...

"Duly noted." He muttered at that, reminding himself of where he was. At some point, his life had taken on that duality. A world where everyone was unnecessarily nice for fear of making enemies and Rocket. Admittedly, he preferred the latter. At least he didn't have to pretend himself. In truth, he was simply tired, but even shutting up what was making so much noise wouldn't change anything.

For him, this was pointless, but it a task nonetheless. His partner's attitude didn't matter to him. "It's still making noise, isn't it?" Clearly, a 'not yet' would have sufficed, but he was a bitter creature by nature and couldn't help but retort with equal helpfulness.

Hand stowed in his pockets, he continued on in the direction that the reverberated sounds were coming from. "This way." In all likeliness, it was a pokemon, what else could it be? The farther he went, the more resounding the noise, but the source was still nowhere to be seen. It was getting more and more frustrating too, especially since the woman had started a timer he hadn't realized existed. The last thing he wished to be perceived as, was incompetent.
