Disciplined and austere Satori Wu is a martial artist in every sense of the word. You see, for those truly exemplary enough to become monks it is a lifestyle, a doctrine, and way of mind. This is the path Satori has chosen.[Break][Break]
It was not always so that the man had been impoverished. His youth in Pewter was marked by the presence of money, and the carefree sort of living it could buy but the rise of Team Rocket soon changed everything. In their hostile takeover of Kanto team rocket had pushed the Wu family out of their prominent position in Pewter City politics, sending the young Satori fleeing into the confines of Mount Moon. There he honed his mental spirit, and physical fortitude watching from the shadows as his people suffered. Satori knew he could not hide in the mountains forever, but it felt wrong to enjoy the luxuries of the world while his people were under the thumb of tyrants. Soon the misty path became crystal clear, he shaved his head and took a vow of poverty, swearing never to partake in the fruit of life until he could see a free Kanto. [Break][Break]
Soon after he made his way to Hoenn, joining up with the local league to help them beat off the scourge of Team Rocket.

Satori is the type of man who does not give a damn for the dreary in betweens of life. A cometophobic spouse, a cigarette smoking hypochondriac, these sort of paradoxical creatures, enigmas of the utmost degree are those with which Satori can most relate.[Break][Break]
A personable socialite, yet a stoic soldier, he spends a majority of his time with other people, watching them, learning even the most minute details of their relationships with others, yet when this very same minutiae presents itself in his own life he casts it aside.Indeed the young monk has shelled himself off like his Squirtle. He is friendly and compassionate to all as it should be, but not particularly fond of sharing about himself.[Break][Break]
One of the few joys he allows for himself is a love of Funk, and Hip Hop music. Maybe you can catch him at a show, or in the park rocking out to Wu Tang in his robes.

If pressed on his faith Satori would simply answer that his religion is people, for he believes in them. More than anything he believes in a single virtue, Compassion. What a sweet word it is, at least in his opinion, it rings upon the tongue and truly represents everything he has been, everything he is, and everything he will become. It is this value of compassion that guides him.[break][break]
Even so he is an avowed enemy of Team Rocket as an institution. In fact, he would go so far as to say that the individual members of Rocket are beyond redemption until the organization is systematically uprooted and eradicated. This inherit hatred for Team Rocket stems from their occupation of his homeland, and has made Satori hostile towards most members of the Team from the get go.

A senior monk and a junior monk were traveling together. At one point, they came to a river with a strong current. As the monks were preparing to cross the river, they saw a very young and beautiful woman also attempting to cross. The young woman asked if they could help her cross to the other side.[break][break]
The two monks glanced at one another because they had taken vows not to touch a woman.
Then, without a word, the older monk picked up the woman, carried her across the river, placed her gently on the other side, and carried on his journey.[break][break]
The younger monk couldn’t believe what had just happened. After rejoining his companion, he was speechless, and an hour passed without a word between them.[break][break]
Two more hours passed, then three, finally the younger monk could contain himself any longer, and blurted out “As monks, we are not permitted a woman, how could you then carry that woman on your shoulders?”[break][break]
The older monk looked at him and replied, “Brother, I set her down on the other side of the river, why are you still carrying her?”[break][break]
Perhaps this might be a peculiar answer given the context, but this is one of Satori's favorite stories. It teaches the importance of the Monk's vow of chastity, but likewise shows the enlightenment in treating all with compassion, not simply those you find beautiful. Satori does his best to avoid romantic entanglement, even still he is only a human being and sometimes longs for human affection.
