Like a box of assorted chocolate confections, filled with mystery in each bite, Nia is also full of mystery and surprises. It's almost impossible to know what version of her you'll get at any given moment. It's also relatively impossible to know which version is the 'real' her. Nia is an actor without the title. Fitting to whatever role you need her to be at any point in time. In fact, she can fit the bill so well that it's easy to believe that each face of the façade could be the real one.

Truth is, Nia doesn't know who she is. After her...particular upbringing, she found it hard to know if what she enjoyed really was something she liked or just something she was trained to feel. But not knowing doesn't really bother her. She doesn't spend her time trying to get back what was lost, she just lives in the present, enjoying whatever pleasures life throws at her.

There is one thing she's aware of though. The fact that she's 'broken'. Again, this doesn't bother her, she embraces this fact more than anything. Her childhood was unlike most and so it was to be expected she wouldn't function like most adults. But even if there are parts of her that are hardwired differently now, at least she knows she's in a place where she can thrive and be accepted. That's the main important thing.

Motivations

Cheap Thrills: Nia loves her job. Her real job. The one she performs for Rocket. Going on dangerous, life threatening missions, hunting down her prey, giving chase, adrenaline pumping activities. All of those things send shivers of pleasure down Nia's spine. She lives and breathes for the opportunity to experience the unique sensation she gets from the kill or 'hunt'. Especially considering how almost everything else is dull in comparison, she finds herself addicted to the feeling and will often go through periods of withdrawal if left inactive for too long.

Attention Seeking & Therapy: Ever since Nia was a little girl she enjoyed being the center of attention. Back when she was a little orphan on the streets leading a band of other orphaned children to become efficient thieves, she basked in their adoration for her. They looked up to her and her capabilities, relied on her and cherished her. It made her feel important to be needed and for every success she felt their love deepen for her.

Once Rocket got their hands on her and tossed her into Project Gossamer, the need and desire to be the best never left her. In fact, if anything it made her competitive spirit stronger. Especially now that she was in a place where she actually needed to compete. She was relentless in her pursuits to be the best back then, even though it didn't work out in her favor. But she never grew defeated she just continued to push herself even further beyond.

Now that she's older she still adores having the spotlight on her. But now instead of constantly being pressured to preform she takes the attention where she can get it. It still releases the same shots of dopamine to her brain when all eyes on her. She just isn't as obsessed with being the best anymore. That being said all of this helps her cope with life for her up until this point. Life wasn't easy, the pain she had to endure. The blood, sweat, and tears she shed, it would all feel like it was for nothing otherwise.

That's a thought she can't handle at the moment.

Freedom: Like most ladies from Project Gossamer, Nia had a strong desire to have control over her own life. She'd always remain loyal to Rocket, that was never a question. It was the only place where she knew she could function in all of her brokenness, so there was no reason to leave. But she still wanted to be released from the leash. She could preform just as well on her own as she did under their supervision. Her successful track record was enough to prove that fact.

Nia Imari works as a Detective in the police force. She holds a position of authority over her branch/team that's located in Lilycove. She rose through the ranks as showed many successes in her field of work and earned the trust of her superiors. Her team isn't that big but it's filled with talented individuals that work alongside the rangers and other law enforcement to ensure safety and security for Hoenn's people.

When she doesn't spend her time cracking cases and working overtime she loves to unwind with some games. A lot of times currency is involved but it's completely legit. Besides she usually plays with her coworkers or friends and they always leave the function saying they had a good time, even if they lost.

ROCKET PLOTS

Dirty Cop

Nia was granted leave from Kanto to begin helping Rocket's efforts in Hoenn considering the stability of Rocket's influence in Kanto. Considering her strengths, Nia suggested she work in the enemies camp. Working as a detective she could cover Rocket's tracks where needed and gain connections that'll help further Rocket's narrative here in Hoenn.

Project Gossamer

Kanto Rocket launched this project with the mind to collect orphaned girls and fashion them into deadly killers. Nia was another one of Project Gossamer's victims. They found her on the streets of Saffron City leading a small band of other orphaned kids into being thieves. It was too good of an opportunity to pass up, no one would miss these meddling no-good girls. Out of the batch Nia was recognized as exceptional and a good candidate for an experimental program looking to train young, unassuming, beautiful women as assassins who would be able to easily infiltrate and get rid of high-ranking League officials in support of the Rocket takeover.*

After much effort, Nia achieved much success as an assassin under the codename NEMESIS (a.k.a. VENGEANCE) and helped secure Rocket's control over the region with other's such as Mei Liu, her rival, or SOTERIA (a.k.a. DELIVERENCE) Once Nia noticed her rival had gone off to greener pastures she decided to follow suit, not that she would ever really admit that to Mei's face.

FRIENDSHIPS

For Nia expressing how she truly feels is a bit difficult when it comes to affection. At least genuine affection. To begin with it takes her a bit of time to even realize she has these feelings for specific individuals. But once she does they'll know that Nia cares and shows that she cares in her own way. Those that she cares for she's fiercely protective about. She won't accept anyone hurting the people important to her.

ENEMIES

Plenty can fall into this category. Quite simply those she considers enemies have a special place in her heart as well. Without them she wouldn't get to enjoy the pleasures of her 'hunt'. So she's also grateful for them and the pain she'll make them feel. Because it's through their pain she feels pleasure.

ROMANCE

Nia's a serial dater or 'lover' in terms of the amount of romantic entanglements she's been in. But she can never say that she's actually been in love before. Not that she's incapable of feeling such things just that no one has managed to catch her attention in that way. None of her relationships develop that deeply for her, she doesn't let it get that far. It's easier to have no strings attached than to be tied down to something shoddy. Nia's damaged goods and when people start to get attached she detaches. No one deserves to be weighed down by her.
