Frustrated by the dull shadows, Sierra sighed, dropping her hands in surrender. She reached for her flask, took a swig, and stowed it away.[break][break]
Riley seemed interested in the Beautifly fluttering about between the trees. Sierra seemed pleased, tossing her head in approval for him to try his hand and at capturing its beauty.[break][break]
Before Riley could get a proper shot, a thunderous crash echoed through the nearby trees, startling Pidgey and Sparrow into flight.[break][break]

"bastard!!" the pangoro's fist had practically blown the tree to bits. it was lucky moss had ducked -- his face had been there just a few moments ago. pidgey and spearow fled its branches as the splintered tree creaked and groaned and collapsed. "i told you," moss cried, rushing forward, "you gotta take a bath!" moss threw two quick punches to little effect. the pangoro grinnd, flicking the straw between its teeth to the other side of its mouth, and backhanded his trainer with enough force to send him flying. moss went tumbling through bush and across thorny patches of foliage before tumbling to a stop at the feet of riley and sierra.
[break][break]moss half-coughed-half-wheezed and smiled. "howdy." scraped and bruised, moss dragged himself to his feet and retrieved his straw hat, placing it firmly atop his head. pangoro was visible in the clearing, now, his arms crossed. grinning. smug. he raised his palm and beckoned for him. a blatant TAUNT. moss' expression immediately soured. "why, i oughta... 'scuse me, folks."
[BREAK][break]and moss would roll up his sleeves and throw himself back into it.

"The perfect muse"? Of the two of them, he was the supposed artist, and even he thought that sounded like a crock of shit.

[break]Still, he shrugged and waited for Sierra to point out this so-called muse, perfectly content with waiting until she pointed something out. That said, he couldn't help but eye her a bit warily as she took a swig from her flask. It was... the middle of the day. A workday, no less. He certainly wasn't the type to judge someone's vices, but... it was a little unnerving. It was only when he took passive interest in a nearby Beautifly that he perked up a bit, and Sierra seemed to as well. Finally with a suitable subject, Riley adjusted the settings of his camera, aiming it directly at the pokémon. And then, just as he lined up the perfect shot...

[break]There was a crash, and the Beautifly darted off into the trees.

[break]Riley grimaced, turning his attention to the flying object that came tumbling through the trees. Or, more accurately, the person. It was a boy, maybe a few years younger than him, with a straw hat and a roughed up face. As Riley looked down at him while he was sprawled out on the ground, he brought his camera back up to face and clicked a picture of him, a mild smile creeping onto his lips. He didn't know who the hell this was, but... it did make for a good photo.

[break]The boy got up and greeted them, before looking off towards a Pangoro that hovered around the edge of the clearing. Was this the pokémon the boy was fighting with? It seemed almost... teasing more than a serious threat, and the boy indicated that he was going to get right back into it. "Cool. Action shots." Riley joked to Sierra in a deadpan tone, though it was unclear if he'd actually follow up on it or not.

Sierra couldn't believe her luck as she watched Moss and Pangoro engage in a fierce battle. The raw energy, the explosive punches, it was a photographer's dream unfolding right in front of her. The tree practically disintegrated under Pangoro's powerful blow, and Sierra's eyes lit up with excitement.[break][break]
"Riley, this is it!" she exclaimed, grabbing his arm. "Don't just stand there, grab your camera! This is the perfect moment for some action shots. Look at the intensity, the dynamics! It's like a living canvas of chaos and power."[break][break]
As Moss and Pangoro exchanged blows, Sierra couldn't contain her enthusiasm. "Capture every moment! The rage, the determination, the sheer force of it all. It's a visual symphony, and we're right here to witness it. You can't miss this opportunity!"[break][break]
As Riley worked with his camera, attempting to capture the intense battle between Moss and Pangoro, Sierra's keen eyes were fixated on Moss's determined face. Amidst the chaos and flurry of punches, it finally clicked in her mind.[break][break]
"Wait, I think I know this guy," Sierra exclaimed, squinting her eyes as if trying to recall a distant memory. "Yeah, I'm almost sure I've seen him before. Meteor Falls.. The weirdo concern with me taking showers..."

"you're stinky! stinky pangoro!" moss grit his teeth and rushed at him but slid to a stop as pangoro took a more aggressive stance. they were boxing now, fists up, circling each other and attempting to open one another's defense up with practiced feints. to the onlookers, it would definitely seem as though this whole song and dance between moss and bastard was at least a somewhat normal occurrence. his pangoro was enjoying the fight, and maybe even enjoying the attention. moss, on the other hand, was solely dedicated to getting his pokemon to listen to him. a fruitless endeavor, maybe... but moss was stubborn. [break][break]the one advantage moss had over his pangoro was that he was just a little bit quicker. while pangoro were known to pack enough force in their fist to turn a dumptruck into scrap metal with a punch, they weren't the fastest fighters alive -- and, what's more, was that despite everything, the bastard wasn't trying to kill him. maybe bruise or crack a few bones, but severely injure him? probably not. probably. [break][break]bastard took the first swing, a straight jab, and moss rolled under it and came back up with a combination. the black and white bear's sheer mass of fat and muscle absorbed the consecutive impacts harmlessly, and so bastard came crashing down with a heavy-fisted overhead slam that kicked up a cloud of dirt and a brief shockwave that followed. moss had leapt aside, grabbing onto his neck and wrapping around his back as if he were going to try to choke the pokemon out. pangoro, more annoyed than anything, gripped him by the back of his shirt and ripped him off of his back, unceremoniously slamming his trainer into the ground.

"Sierra," Riley hissed, as she grabbed onto his arm, basically shaking him around in her excitement. "You're ruining the shot."

[break]Riley had been pretty much joking when he'd suggested that maybe they try to take shots of this random guy getting beaten to death by a pangoro. But apparently, Sierra was well on-board for the idea, demanding that Riley not waste the opportunity to get some good shots. Riley raised an eyebrow, before shrugging his shoulders and bringing his camera back up to his face. He didn't really see the appeal, but if it would satisfied his boss and get him his credit, then he couldn't really complain, could he?

[break]As Riley snapped a few pictures, watching as the young man valiantly took on the massive pangoro, Sierra hummed to herself for a moment, before exclaiming that she definitely recognized the guy fighting the pokémon. Riley lowered his camera, affixing her with a confused look. "Really?" He asked. They basically seemed to be from two different worlds. And that wasn't even getting into her cryptic comment about showers.

[break]Riley sighed, looking to the guy. "Hey, um... do you need help?" he asked. Watching the dude get his ass beat was like, kinda funny, but also a bit awkward.

As Riley questioned if Moss needed help, Sierra's focus remained solely on her photography mission. She leaned in close to Riley, her excitement palpable. "No way, Riley. This is gold! Let them wrestle a bit longer. We're witnessing a Pokémon-human bonding session like no other. The struggle, the determination, it's all there. Trust me, it's going to make for some epic shots!"[break][break]
Sierra, oblivious to any potential danger Moss might be in, continued to encourage the spectacle.[break][break]
"Look at the dynamics, the pure emotion," Sierra insisted, her eyes gleaming with passion. "This is real-life drama, and we're right in the front row. Just imagine the headlines: 'Trainer and Pangoro Forge Unbreakable Bond Through Epic Battle.' It's a story for the ages!"[break][break]
As Moss and Pangoro continued their intense exchange, Sierra couldn't contain her enthusiasm.[break][break]
"Keep it up! Show that Pangoro who's boss!" Sierra cheered, completely immersed in the exhilarating spectacle even going as far to bust out her own camera to capture it on motion picture. To her, the pursuit of the perfect shot outweighed any concerns for Moss's well-being, and she was determined to capture the essence of this unique and unconventional Pokémon-human connection.[break][break]

Every day in Hoenn got stranger and stranger.

[break][break]Sierra did not appreciate Riley's suggestion that they help the poor kid out; it was great content, apparently. And despite his mild concerns—born mostly out of awkwardness—he couldn't deny that. The whole battle was quite dynamic, though potentially rather dangerous for the kid, and Riley was certainly getting some good angles.

[break][break]With that said, he couldn't help but give Sierra a look of narrowed eyes as she elaborated upon the emotions she was witnessing with the battle. "...You are a real reporter, right?" He'd checked her credentials before meeting with her, but he supposed those could be faked. Not that he was really doubting her, but... she maybe just needed to touch some more grass, every now and again.

[break][break]Sierra shouted some encouragement, just as the kid sent out a buizel to help the pangoro... take a bath? Was that what this whole thing was about? "Oh for the love of..." Riley muttered, rolling his eyes. Still, the buizel was cool—Riley liked buizel. Reluctantly, he raised his camera and took a few photos as the battle continued to play out. This was perhaps the stupidest assignment he'd had to do so far, but he was getting those grades one way or another.
