Anahel was under orders to gather intelligence for Rocket. [break][break]
The grunt has been getting more and more missions lately. Balancing her persona as a student alongside her duties as a Rocket member was becoming difficult. She supposed her grades didn't matter too much... But something felt wrong about slacking off at University.[break][break]
Sighing, she rode on Noivern as she scouted the island from above.[break][break]
"Hm?" Further ahead she saw the figure of a man on top of a pokèmon.[break][break]
Checking the information she was given this morning. There shouldn't be any Rocket members in this particular air zone. Were they League?[break][break]
She thought on it only for a few moments before deciding it was best to go ahead and take them out.[break][break]
Soaring towards the figure, she pulled up her face.[break][break]
"Noivern," she said preparing for combat. "Boom Burst."[break][break]
The dragon let out a horrendously loud scream at the target, one that was strong enough to easily knock the rider off and send the enemy pokèmon into a tumble.

Moss

He didn’t notice the approaching Noivern before it was too late. The Boomburst attack landed, hitting both him and Doodles the same. It was painful, and it was disorienting. The Altaria dropped in altitude before shaking off the attack and recovering. Moss, on the other hand, began to bleed from his ears and nose, not nearly as durable as his companion. He coughed violently and spun around to get a better view of his attacker.

[break][break]”Hey, what’s the--” He realized quickly just who the person attacking him was. “You again?!” Moss held his hat in place and grimaced. “Damn it, I ain’t tryna fight you!” Doodles took a hint and dove. Holding tight to his Altaria with one hand and onto his hat with the other, Moss attempted to get away through evasive maneuvers.

The Atlaria dove downward in an attempt to make a get away.[break][break]
Anahel heard them shout, but didn't care for much of what they said. They obviously were not Rocket, and thats all she needed to know.[break][break]
"Noivern," she shouted to her dragon.[break][break]
The two dove after the enemy, firing a Thunderbolt at the trainer riding the bird.

Moss

“Shoot!” As Doodles soared quickly downwards, Moss kept an eye on their pursuers. The evil looking pokemon unleashed a blast of electricity that leapt towards them in a violent arc. Moss grit his teeth and urged his Altaria to meet it.

[break][break]Doodles acted intuitively, aiming and firing a Moonblast at the Noivern. A vicious beam of pinkish energy escaped its beak, blasting the creature with the intent to harm. They were going to fight, now -- they had to, after all. Moss grit his teeth and set his jaw, and Doodles defiantly spread her wings wide. Do all Pokemon love to fight?

The two attacks met. A struggle could be seen between the two forces. It created a light so bright that it blinded Anahel.[break][break]
An explosion blew from between Moss and Anahel, pushing Noivern back. A cloud of smoke filled the space around them.[break][break]
Anahel tugged on her dragon, directing it to attack through the fog of war.[break][break]
Using its echo location, Noivern was able to target and fire Dragon Pulse at the enemy Altaria.[break][break]
"End this Noivern."

Moss

The enemy’s Dragon Pulse landed with abject ferocity, sending the Altaria spiraling through the air. Battered and bruised and bleeding, Moss gripped Altaria by the fluff and pulled her back to attention. Doodles managed to muster up enough strength to halt the duo’s fall. Moss whispered his final command to her, and as she spun to face off once more against the rapidly approaching Noivern…

[break][break]And sang a distinctly haunting tune. Crimson waves emanated from the Altaria’s pale blue beak, heralding the demise of all who heard her morbid song. Specifically, the only two in the sky. Moss grit his teeth. The ultimatum of Perish Song was clear: the Noivern rider could try and finish him off, and risk plummeting when her mount faints, or land. Moss had to make the same choice, and he wasted no time making his.

A eerie melody filled both Anahel and Noivern's ears. While the girl only felt mild discomfort, Noivern shuddered and reeled back in response.[break][break]
"Damn it." She muttered to herself, realizing what the Altaria just did.[break][break]
Obviously, this man had no intention of fighting back. They wanted to withdraw and ensure their own safety.[break][break]
Noivern only had so much left in her, but there was still a chance of finishing this before the two were forced to land.[break][break]
One last Dragon Pulse was sent at the escaping Altari.[break][break]
Whether or not this finished the job, Anahel would begin making preparations to disengage and return to the ground.

Moss

Luckily for Moss, and perhaps luckier still for Doodles, the Noivern’s Dragon Pulse wouldn’t connect. They were diving at too sheer of an angle. But they got the message, loud and clear. Moss leaned back and looked over his shoulder, and breathed a sigh of relief as he realized that the Noivern and its rider weren’t pursuing.

[break][break]He leaned over and rubbed his tired and injured Altaria’s neck. “Good girl,” Moss said, “thank you for workin’ so hard for me.” Doodles cooed softly in response as they made to land. Moss would hop off the bird’s back and look once more to the sky before returning the exhausted pokemon to its ball. “Golly.” Moss exhaled and brushed himself off.

[break][break]Why did it seem like everything suddenly loved to try and kill him recently? With a huff, Moss started hurrying away. He didn’t want to get stuck in the crossfire again. For now, though, he was just happy to have both feet back on the ground.
