Aris is not one for field work, not ever since he started managing the club.[break][break]

However, the forces at Rocket have been stretched thin, especially with the threat of war looming over Hoenn. Aris was told to avoid meddling in Rocket affairs to keep his civilian identity as clean as possible, but another grunt had made a mess during one of their missions in Fortree, and since no one else nearby was available, Aris was called upon for some damage control.[break][break]

How, exactly, he's going to manage to fix a generator before someone from the League notices, he has no idea, but he can't refuse the higher-ups now, can he? Aris' tongue momentarily flicks out to touch the fresh scar running up the left corner of his lips. Cillian had already punished him for a fault that wasn't his own, so it's best to tread carefully.[break][break]

Aris stands at the base of the wind turbine with his Rapidash and Houndour, craning his neck to look at the rotating wings. Apparently, despite the movement, the turbine is no longer producing power. He sighs dejectedly, mentally cursing the Rocket grunt who caused this mess before forcing himself to snap out of it and move towards the entrance of the structure.[break]

He hears Nalia's growl first, which eventually turns into a loud bark, before he even notices the entities moving towards him from above. His hand instinctively reaches for a Pokeball clipped to his belt but he stops himself. Aris is a mere civilian, one out-of-place perhaps, but nothing more. He needs to seem helpless, not threatening. [break][break]

Nalia, the ever-loyal puppy that she is, steps in between Aris and the other man and snarls. Iris, however, doesn't seem too bothered and has busied herself with grazing on the grass below their feet.[break][break]

Aris observes the short man before breaking out with an effortless, sunny smile. "Oh, nothing much." He scrounges through his brain for an excuse. "I like coming out here to let my Pokemon run free. They love the fresh air."[break]

"It's alright, Nalia, you can relax," Aris chuckles lightly and kneels down to beckon the Houndour towards him. Nalia throws a final, low growl towards the party before trotting back and nuzzling her snout against Aris' hand. "Sorry about that, she's just protective."[break][break]

He stands up, Nalia now held comfortably in his hands, and he glances at the warning signs. "I did," Aris looks back at the man and smiles. "But my curiosity got the best of me. I'm training to be an engineer, you see, so I couldn't help but notice that this one sounds different than the rest." He nods towards the turbine behind him.[break][break]

It's a bald-faced lie, of course; Aris doesn't even have a middle-school education, much less a university degree, but this stranger doesn't need to know that. A lie is something he's more than comfortable with telling.[break][break]

"There might be a problem with the generator in there."[break]

The sarcasm couldn't have been more obvious. Aris knows his excuse is a bit of a stretch, but he isn't going to give up on the lie so soon.[break][break]

"Of course." He complies with the officer's request and pulls an ID out of his pocket, adjusting the Pokemon in his arm before presenting it to the man. "As I said before, I'm still in training so I don't have a certificate for that," Aris explains politely. Cato might be a pain in the ass for a roommate, but his forgery skills are something Aris can trust.[break][break]

"I hope this suffices, Mr...?"[break]

Doubt crawls into his mind as he watches the other man hand the ID back with an unhappy countenance. Aris prepares to act fast, mentally taking note of Iris' position in case a quick getaway is imminent.[break][break]

But, luckily enough, Aris seems to have been spared. At least for now, it seems, because the next problem raises its head soon after as Memo walks up to the turbine and unlocks the door, waiting for Aris to enter.[break][break]

"Of course! Glad to be of help,"he expresses enthusiastically. Aris walks past the man and enters the turbine with all the confidence of a seasoned electrician, ignoring the fact that it's a setting he's completely unfamiliar with but must now pretend to be the expert of. "This is a great opportunity for me to practice with the theory I've learned so far, so I'm actually thankful for this, Memo."[break][break]

He leaves his Rapidash outside. Just in case.[break]

"About...six months now? Maybe fewer. The whole thing feels like forever," Aris answers with a light chuckle. "Don't get me wrong, I enjoy what I do, but I'm not much of an academic. My teacher insists on reading the books as well."[break][break]

He looks around the interior of the turbine and tries to make any semblance of sense. There's a ladder that leads all the way to the top of the structure and Aris can only assume that that's where the meat of it all is. "Whatever the issue, it must be up there," he nods towards the top. "I hope you're ready to climb ten stories."[break][break]

Aris certainly isn't, but he walks up to the base of the ladder anyway.[break]
