Rigging the system was easy to do when you knew it like the back of your hand. Or in this case just had his particular set of skills. On the Beach Wright had set up a display for some 'I can guess your pokemon's Blank' type of game where. There was a ruler for checking height, a scale for weight and other novelty things that other street performers had done along the beach. [break][break]

They had just been charged with getting extra money, simple as heck especially as a customer just lost after doubling down that he couldn't guess something after trying to rig it with the pokemon just being a zorua disguised as something else. People were silly if they think they could trick his senses. [break][break]

"Now where is that deedee with the soda we ordered?" he questions as he looks for the partner he was assigned with as he had asked them to pick up drinks what felt like forever ago now.

"I expect good results in exchange for this," she said behind him, presenting the drink. Nothing came close to a simple grey tea, so she rarely experimented with anything so intentionally indulgent. "Usually, people default to stealing money with a card game." Admittedly, she knew none. Early in her military career, she was kept artificially busy to stay isolated from her unit when possible. Later, when no one with authority cared to waste time on such an effort, she had learned to keep her distance for her own safety. [break][break]

Still, the game he had set up was more successful than she could have imagined. And then a child approached. Was he willing to, as the expression went, take candy from a baby?

There is a small jump from the older scientist when the other had suddenly come up behind him rather than in front of them. "Arcus give me a heart attack why don't ya," he chuckles having been caught off guard, but did find some amusement in it at least. He gives a silent thanks when given the drink though his good expressions turns into a sour one as he sticks out his tongue and blows out a raspberry. "Leeeeeaf juuuuuuice?" he questions her as he stares at her now judging all of her choices in life she has ever made ever.[break][break]

He does put the drink down to which the joltick just seems to pop out from his hair as the little bug goes to the tea and enjoys the drink. [break][break]

He chuckles at the mention of a card game, "Ma'am I have met true card sharks before, and if I had to scale myself to them I'm a 6 at best," and this was coming from a man who counted cards at the casinos. He knows he has a certain type of skill and he wasn't above exploiting it for money since Rocket has asked him to. Though the nice guy act returns as a kid comes along. [break][break]

"Welcome kiddo! Here to see if you can pull the wool over my eyes?" he questions covering his eyes to go along with his pitch. Yuan is clearly not above betting with a kid.

What he had to say became muddled like TV static as she watched the Joltik leave his hair and descend to try the drink. Quietly, she asked incredulously, "the sensation of a Joltik does not bother you?" She was not huge on bug types, though she did not hate them. The Joltik in particular was an annoying pokemon because of how light and tiny it was; it was hard to notice, though she suspected she would be aware of its presence if it sat on her head. [break][break]

She turned to look at the child who grinned from ear to ear. She presented an Indeedee. There were a few of these in Galar, so she was no stranger, but she had never used one herself. Their sympathy ran too high, and she had little interest in dealing with the sensitivities of a pokemon that might fight back if Ameena was doing anything unethical. [break][break]

"Ah, well show us how it is done," Ameena said to Yuan. Was he familiar with Galarian species?

Wright merely laughs at the question of the joltik, "Of course not! I love the little guy there, its crawling around gives me a tingle that tickles the brain in just the right spot, and it's literal jolts of electricity is also great for the stimulation and keeps me awake and thinking," Sure it also made his hair pretty staticy more times than not, but he was not a man for appearances. "Plus I've found that its usually pretty useful to always have a pokemon out," he may not be the most battle ready man but he the Joltik could get him out of a pickle here and there. [break][break]

With the kid bringing out the Indeedee Wright chuckles as mentally he is already sizing the creature up. Mental equations going on in his head as he picked up the pokemon's arms as he was talking almost like a pokedex, "Ohh a Female Indeedee, don't see them around these parts usually, an emotion pokemon just like the Kirlia here in Hoenn," he comments simply as part of the show, "so kiddo what did you want me to guess about your partner?" he questions, the kid already made their bet. [break][break]

"Uhhh their weight!"

They choose from one of the options and Wright just laughs, "Kid you know you can't just be asking for a woman's weight! Just ask her" he chuckles as he references his partner this whole thing being just more than giving the answer but also a performance, make it funny make them think they couldn't get it right to allow them a chance to double down.

He was right to always have a pokemon out, but she couldn't say she cared for the sacrifice. She wouldn't tolerate a bug on her like that, but she supposed it would be effective enough. He wasn't some delinquent juvenile in Rocket needed tips and tricks. He had been around long enough to know how to get out of a pickle, so she let it go, though not without letting her gaze rest on the Joltik with suspicion, first. [break][break]

Yuan works the kid over, identifying the Indeedee immediately. Ameena arches a high brow at his commentary, but smacking him in public wouldn't be a good look. She looks to the kid with an expression that comes across a bit like, 'get a load of this guy.' The kid's confidence is renewed. "You can't figure it out!" The kid insists, putting her hands on her hips. Ameena turns her head away to hide a smirk, looking forward to seeing the grand reveal.

Wright just laughs again at the kid's claim that he couldn't make the guess. "OH really? Bet you your extra lunch money I got it," he ups the anty slightly. He knows it isn't much, but Yuan has no shame in even bleeding kids dry if they really wanted to show him up, "And in return if I'm wrong," he doubles down what she put down, "You get that..."[break][break]

The kid seems eager enough as she puts in an extra 20 at the bet and Yuan gets to work as he stands up to his full height finally, back cracking slightly for having been bent over for so long. "Now usually the Indeedee run at about 28.0kg," he stats as matter of factly as it seems the child is about to tell him how wrong he is but he puts a finger up, "HOWEVER, I can easily tell that kid like you likes to spoil their pokemon," and themselves but a couple pounds over wasn't going to hurt them. "Extra snacks here, a few treats there and..." Wright lifts the Indeedee's arms as if that's all he needed to confirm what he needed. "And you kiddo have one that now runs aaaaatttt...." he pauses at the reveal as he pulls the pokemon along to the scale but he doesn't look at it. [break][break]

"31.3kg," he says before the emotion pokemon stepped on the scale and confirmed his guess to be almost on the dot, but the sign did give a clear 'allowed a .5kg of error' still though he chuckles as he takes both the betting money and at the number the pokemon was "Ha nice," he mentions as he converts the weight in his head before waving the kid a simple good bye loser. [break][break]

Smart enough to not say that part out loud though. Though once the kid is gone he gives his partner a smirk, "Impressed at all?"

He actually did it. She waited for the miserable kid to leave before turning to him for more clarification. "Did you actually guess that? Or is the scale set to identify whatever you choose?" She had seen a few magic tricks in her days. Often, the tricks relied on making it appear to be chance when the card the client chose was one the magician wanted them to choose. [break][break]

"This was certainly more interesting than swindling someone in cards." She liked the unorthodox approach.

"If I had this thing set up to just say what I wanted I wouldn't need the sign," he informs as he points out sign indicating his room for error. "Its the genuine thing, I like to think that everyone within the labs has their talent that can be put to use in one way or another, for me its the a mix of both the engineering and my eye for pokemon. Allow me to look at one of yours and I can tell you right away it's best strength, its height, weight and all the works just by looking at it, I find it to be a nice little asset when we're looking at a group and needing to find the best subject for the job," Wright explains himself, he already knows the other has seen how terrible of a battler he was and in a sense this was his way of showing what he could contribute. "Eh cards can have some magic to it, but many people learn such a skill, not as many this one," he chuckles happy with his skill. [break][break]

The combat application of knowing such things at a glance wasn't perfect, but she could see now that he had really meant it when he said some folks weren't meant for combat and could contribute in other ways. Still, she had meant it when she said all Rockets had to be able to defend themselves. The organization was unlikely to summon soldiers to the labs, but it would summon scientists to the battlefield. War was like that. [break][break]

"Well, I would be lying if I said I did not find it amusing. An application of your engineering knowledge, hm? You are quite unexpected." Really, she found him hard to predict in many ways. "I think that is a good strength."
