"I haven't been here before." Her awe turned quickly to scientific curiosity. She had a dozen trips under her belt, but it still held surprises. She was pleased to see the workshop. Mechanic work wasn't her strong suit, but she liked a challenge. "Have you seen this scenario before?" She walked through the area and examined the different materials. [break][break]

She looked to her partner. "Have you fixed anything like this before?" She didn't work with tech herself. She had teams for that at her company. She wondered how the scenario would unfold if they managed to put it back together.

The RKS Simulation. One of the greatest resources that Team Rocket had access to. Evelyne finally had the chance to explore it, and alongside her fellow scientist, Ameena , she was excited. "I’m afraid this is my first time in the simulation. I’m Evelyne, but you may call me Eve," she introduced herself.

She surveyed the workshop, her eyes appraising the tools and materials scattered around. "Now how to fix a broken Pokégear, under normal circumstances? No I wouldn't know how," she muttered. Mechanics weren’t exactly her forte—she usually had people to handle that—but she wasn’t one to shy away from a challenge. "But it wouldn’t hurt to try." After all, how hard could it be? It might even be amusing to see how well she could piece something together.

It's like a walkie-talkie: "maldacena here. are you having fun? isn't the simulated universe fascinating? however, i'd be careful if i were you. you never know who's watching!"[break][break]

Regardless of your level of familiarity with this member of the DRK Triad, it does not make what they say any less unsettling.

"Eve," she echoed, stretching the name out. "I will do my best to be a good shepherd through the RKS, though - " Her warning is cut off with the voice of god that fills the room. [break][break]

She recognizes the name and freezes. The DRK triad and the Megalopolans are both deeply interesting parties at play in Hoenn's landscape, but they're both dangerous. She has no interest in encountering these understudied enemies, not here. The playing field can never be in their favor in the simulation. [break][break]

She breaks the device in her hands. "There are outside parties involved in the simulation. We do not understand enough about the details to be safe." It's ominous, she knows, but she feels watched more than she ever has in the simulation. It feels like durants crawling on her skin. "The simulation is about to drift into a new scene. You may feel vertigo."

Shepherd? Evelyn almost had half a mind to roll her eyes at the term. She wasn’t some Wooloo, for Arceus’ sake. But, for the sake of keeping up appearances and maintaining the pretense of cooperation, she decided to let it slide—this time.[break][break]

Maldacena? Who was that? This contact was new. “Fair enough,” she said, her tone sharp but controlled. “Though I’d certainly love to learn more about them. Knowledge, after all, is power.”[break][break]

Her eyes narrowed slightly as she watched the so-called shepherd destroyed with the device. It was better to be safe than sorry. With the task done that meant a scene and different choices. Her excitement grew even if it comes at a cost, "Well, if I feel dizziness even the slight I will let you know."

Knowledge was power, but it could also foster deep-seated paranoia. In this case, the knowledge was largely about what they didn't know, and that made it all the worse to be burdened with. [break][break]

The scene blurred aggressively into the night market. "This is a new scenario," she commented sharply, with warning. Then, belatedly, she added: "to me, at least." But she was plenty seasoned. She had repeated several scenes. A new one stood out to her. [break][break]

Especially since the simulation would get more and more dangerous as time went on. [break][break]

Terror and panic filled the air in the form of screams as the crowd dispersed. A Blacephalon stood in the center, lugging its exploding head around. She had witnessed these in Lesser Megalopolis firsthand. "Hypnosis," she ordered as she released Moira. The Musharna used her psychic prowess to confuse the Blacephalon into a trance, giving them a moment's pause. "We should attack it to solve the problem. That should tell the simulation to push us forward."

It was amazing how quickly they left the workshop and found themselves at the night market, surrounded by friendly faces and cheerful energy. If only Eve didn’t feel like she’d been punched in the gut. Ameena was right about feeling vertigo—it took her a few moments to gather her composure. The simulation felt so real at times. Everyone around her seemed to be having a good time, until this strange Pokémon appeared—a Blacephalon, or at least that’s what the simulation called it. Eve couldn’t take her eyes off it. It reminded her of the most disgusting things on Earth—clowns.[break][break]

“What the heck is that thing? Scratch that—I don’t want to know.”[break][break]

"Alright, let's hurry and get out of here," she muttered, calling her Gastly out of its Pokéball. "Dream Eater." The ghost tried to sap and the beast hoping to give them the edge.

You may witness some familiar faces: Adrian Malcolm and his Arcanine, Thomas Benoit and his Scizor, Noah Faber and his Unfezant, Kyle Lopez and his Manectric, Remiel Calcifet and his Solrock, Fernando Silph and his Tapu Fini. Though they may recognize you in return, it is all but a shallow connection. After all, they are simulations.[break][break]

The battle is fierce. The Blacephalon's head is tossed around like a hot potato before it explodes and another takes its place above the Ultra Beast's collar. Another Blacephalon bomb descends from atop the lighthouse like a New Year's ball.[break][break]

Eventually you defeat the Blacephalon and/or defuse the bomb in some way. Whether you fail or succeed, an ultra wormhole emerges for you to leap into...

Despite Evelyn insisting she didn't want to know, Ameena offered an explanation. "Blacephalon is an ultra beast from one of those wormholes." As she spoke, one opened above them. "It stems from Megalopolis." She didn't need to explain the danger factor. They were both staring at a ticking bomb, after all. [break][break]

"We should take our leave." The wormhole above yawned open while their pokemon fought. The Blacephalon was overwhelmed and confused from hypnosis, giving them a good window to escape.
