The team makes a mad scramble to escape and all of them manage to leave the forest, eluding the distracted Guzzlord as they seek refuge in the open expanse of the Ultra Desert. [break][break]

persephone amavi is isolated from the others, apprehended by the Pheromosa in a bid to introduce the silver haired anomaly to its fellow kin. Her outward distrust for the Ultra Beast causes her to formulate a plan to escape and she manages to slip free before it can bring her to its family. Intelligent enough to understand her action, the friendliest Ultra Beast they would have encountered gives up any further pursuit. [break][break]

Bailey Cooper ends up being their spotter and finds her friends relatively quickly. As the only moving objects against the endless blanket of sand, she tried to reconvene with them immediately. However, high above the rest of them, she notices a sudden distortion rippling across the sky. The atmosphere becomes thick with a latent energy, crackles of purple electricity nipping at her skin as black clouds start to envelope the space above her. Instinct warns her to avoid it and she descends — she'll die if she stays separate. [break][break]

kyle lopez's fixation to the objective leads them to the only prominent landmark in sight. They regroup with Persephone and Bailey just in time to investigate the cavern. Inside, they find a colony of Nihilego surrounding their captive, mateo martinez. Their purpose is indiscernible but the fact that they've kept him alive this long must mean they have a higher purpose for him. [break][break]

The swarm of Nihilego is not the only obstacle they face. Numerous wormholes line the walls of the innermost chamber. From Ultra Space, they can peer into where they holes will deposit them. One reveals the buried chamber of Regirock while the other one continues to observe Lugia's last known nest. Naturally, they prioritize Mateo and Stormy Silph's mastery over fire Pokemon proves crucial to keeping the Ultra Beast at bay. [break][break]

Securing Mateo's unconscious body proves simple but breaking out of the chamber proves impossible. It's an uphill battle against an insurmountable amount of Ultra Beast, each wormhole providing a never ending stream of would-be opponents. It's only through Kyle's Cosmog are they able to escape, manifesting its own wormhole transport them back to Slateport. During the exchange, the exposure to so many Ultra Wormholes allows the Cosmog to evolve into Cosmoem. [break][break]

mateo martinez and Noelle Lane are taken to intensive care for recovery. [break][break]
