the larvesta braces through the pain and counters with a STRING SHOT that finds purchase. onne is unable to speed up in time after her attack, and though she attempts to swivel her head out of the way, the larvesta's aim triumphs.

"protect yourself."

once on the offense, now on the defense. a colorful sheen wraps around the togetic's body, setting up a SAFEGUARD. still unable to see, onne has now slowed to a stop as she tries to pull the web out of her eyes.

[attr="class","ithread"]though blinded, the togetic is still out of reach. iris plans to change that. "again. bring it down."

the larvesta shoots out another STRING SHOT, aiming to wind it round the pokemon, pinning its wings to its body. should that succeed, it would toss its head and, with the string shot still attached to it, hurl the togetic to the ground as a result.

it's difficult to dodge an attack you can't see coming. the togetic's stubby arms are proving to be a hindrance and even before she's able to pull the web away from her eyes, another STRING SHOT wraps itself around her body. her wings clip together before she's hurled to the ground, landing with a solid thud and a cry.

"to your left."

almost out of desperation, the togetic smooches a SWEET KISS in the general direction of the larvesta. whether it hits or not is another matter entirely.

[attr="class","ithread"]its aim is surprisingly good, despite everything. she's glad for her preemptive measure, for it buys her the seconds she needs. "flame wheel. dodge it." the larvesta spins rapidly as it breathes out a stream of flame. it rolls to the side, steering clear of the sweet kiss before coming up behind the togetic with a speed only possibly with the move's power.

after tireless efforts, the togekiss manages to scrape the web out of her eyes. she struggles to her feet and by the time she manages, it's far too late to even think of dodging the FLAME WHEEL. for such a small creature, the larvesta is surprisingly fast.

flames lick away at the protective SAFEGUARD around her and though the togetic is safe from a burn, the damage done is still overwhelming. she cries out in pain and WISHES for the best as she attempts to move away.

"flare blitz," her next command comes immediately, eager to not waste time. the flames coating the larvesta grow brighter, bolder before it charges at the togetic. hopefully, the wish would be futile.

the outcome of the battle had been decided the moment the first STRING SHOT connected–alexander realized as much. a red beam of light spares togetic the excruciating pain that would have come from the FLARE BLITZ. as its original trainer, alexander knows of the damage output larvesta is capable of.

"two minutes. very impressive, miss foster."

it literally took her two minutes to react, adapt, and overcome the challenge given to her. alexander cannot help the smile that creeps onto his features.

"imagine what you could do with more time. with pokemon of your own! if that is something you want, of course."

alexander nods, reaching into his pocket for a single miniscule pokeball. he rolls it in his palm and between his fingers as he approaches her.

"i think you have potential, iris. but understand that there is...politics involved when it comes to your situation. the rangers are protective of you and they will continue to be. but they fail to see that they're limiting your growth. your potential. i believe under the right guidance you could achieve so much."

finally, he extends the pokeball over to her.

"the larvesta is a gift. raise it how you would. i promise to keep this between us as long as you do too."

[attr="class","ithread"]iris only vaguely understands the weight of his words--she has been limited to rocket, and the small bubble the rangers had put her in. that doesn't stop her from agreeing wholeheartedly to mister stone's words. "of course!" she wasn't about to let the rangers get in her way again.[break][break]

alexander spares a curious glance to the larvesta. its hard to gauge its personality off a glance but it looks calmer. perhaps more comfortable. how strange.

"let's meet again next week to check on your progress. i'd also like to see how you train your pokemon, if that's okay."
