He was quick to pick up were Yuina left, clapping his hands together as he dropped onto a seat.

Right— good thing he had gotten his thoughts in order prior to arriving at the man's office.

Luckier yet, he was a member of AQUA— no need to dance around the topic.

"Yeah, it probably ain't draconid." He said, scratching at his chin. "I don't think they'd worship a fairy."

Or anything outside of Rayquaza, for that matter, but he didn't really know enough on the subject to confidently make any claims.

"Alright, so... you might be able to relate to this— my matron gave me a dream vision recently. There's something she wants me to find." Doug said after a moment, leaning forward on his seat as he gathered his hands together. "We can't be certain yet, but after much discussion, Yuina and I've come to believe Tapu Lele may have been showing me a temple— or place of worship."

He fiddled with his hands as he reclined onto his seat, looking up.

"I've, uh... reason to believe it may have been an important place for Tapu Lele. It may well have been Hoenn's own temple of life." He said, leaning his chin atop his awaiting palms. "But... you can probably guess the problem with that."

There was no such temple in Hoenn— no records one could think up off the top of one's head, either. The Hoennian Tapu Lele was not related to the temple of Life in Alola's Akala island, either...

There were mentions of 'draconids', a word Doug only knew from reports regarding Mt. Pyre and their earlier talk with Remiel Calcifet. One of Hoenn's ancient tribes, still active to this day and with many a strange features of their own.

Still, he doubted whoever they found here would belong to that group.

"Right behind ya!" The colonel declared after Howard, hopping to it. his girlfriend was quick to scoot up close, however, putting any briskness on his part to rest. "Somethin' wrong, good lookin'?"

He leaned against her, humming thoughtfully as she mumbled.

"_{Nah. Honestly, doubt she'll help out anyway. She's very lazy.}" He said with a snicker. "And... well, just looks like any other deserted island to me."

He would've recognized the island in his dreams the moment he laid eyes on its silhouette. The mountain-turned temple dominated its skyline.

Still, he didn't seem too concerned, grinning airily as he slid an arm around her shoulders.

"Don't worry too much, I've got a good feeling about this place."

Ah, blind faith, a famously effective alternative to facts or evidence.

"Oup, our guide's getting far." Doug said, taking longer steps. "Come on, Mr. Slayte will get on our case if we let him trouble alone!"

Though the island wasn't huge, it wasn't small either, and the foliage in the tropical jungle was thick. The massive canopies above them and thin rays of light cutting through suggested that flying over the jungle would not much help.

They had to walk through it.

There were pokemon there, naturally— not the myriad available in Hoenn's thoroughly corrupted ecosystem nowadays, though. Far as one could see, these were Hoenn's originals.

Tropius, tailows and wingulls, wrumples and cascoons and beautiflys, volbeats... everything one would expect of a jungle, if entirely hoennian.

"A preserved ecosystem... Well, it is pretty far from the mainland." Doug mused. Didn't even feature in any modern maps, either.

He turned his gaze over to Howard.

"Any signs of people to ya, Mr. Slayte?"

The answer would've been no, but at right about then, Howard would run over a nearly wholly buried, cracked block of clay. Hard to the touch despite the material, covered in moss, dirt and blending well with the grassy dirt beneath their feet.

He rubbed at his temples as Fernando finished talking down to them, eyes rolled into the back of his skull.

Fernando thought they were wasting his time? Fair enough, they were all certainly saying a lot more than was strictly needed to make a simple yes or no question, he would give the man that.

Pot calling the kettle black there, but whatever, he didn't expect self-awareness from people anymore.

"Oh my Gods." He groaned, dragging his hands through his face. "Yes, yes, we're all awful, and selfish, and fucking dumb. Now please just answer the damn questions so we can leave you to work in peace."

He poked at the paper.

"Did you know about this?" He asked bluntly. "You're Fernando Silph. Yet all you can say is that it 'may' be real?"

Who was Fernando F*cking Silph?

The longest serving councilman and right hand man of the commissioner. The man behind all of Hoenn's logistics. A 24/7 workaholic that never left the office.

If he couldn't give them a bloody yes or no answer on whether or not the paper was real, they were cooked.

"If you don't know the source, why can't we dismiss it as a fake? A rocket Psy-OP? No way Morningstar put this up, and Livy can't just bypass ya two and the commissioner to do this. Right?"

He didn't think the commissioner could do it either... or that she even would, for that matter.

"SNRRK." Doug snorted audibly as he leaned over the map projection, squinting at the little figurines with familiar faces on them. "And here I was beginning to think ya were humorless, Mr. Silph."

There was a flurry of chaos following the councilman's little jest; some were staying on track, and others were Andrea Vaneau.

At illeana reyes's observation, however, he just shrugged his shoulders, looking up from the map over his shoulder.

"Maybe." A mildly worrying possibility.

If the man were to confirm that they were, indeed, looking at actual League law, a little revolution was likely to start in that offic—

"Wha— 5?!" Doug gasped as he found himself in the holo-map, waving over the number irritably. "This is some ol' bullshit."

NOTES/COMMENTS: Doug was just having a regular day at Petalburg's general when everything went to absolute shit and he found himself ordered to the medic camps being set up near the frontlines.

And then Dorian happens, cuz he a bich and an instigator. :squint:

On a more serious note, Kanto Rocket's more aggressive and violent methods would activate Doug's worse side for sure. They're essentially the same people who burned everything (and just about everyone) he used to know to the ground, which touches upon bad memories and bring up bad, almost fully discarded habits.

I'm also operating on the thought that the Lele quest already happened at this point— nothing to do with powers, but rather, his bond with Lele has been renewed/strengthened, which has led to a stronger blending of her character traits into his.

So he's gonna be a lil more unhinged, because I love doing ever so-slightly unhinged Doug. :creepysmile:

Tapu Lele raised a hand herself. Psychic was met by psychic, the psychokinetic forces neutralizing one another without disturbing the lab.

It appeared she was no longer wanted there. Oh well. Tapu Lele very unceremoniously shoved all of the formula into her shell, giggling. Mission accomplished all the same.

She began to float up, waving at both Ameena and Gardevoir as she melded into the ceiling above, seemingly ghosting through it before disappearing entirely, her giggling echoing inside the laboratory even after she had completely disappeared.

The corners of Tapu Lele's eyes curled slightly as if in a smile, the rest of Ameena's formula joining the ones he had already yoinked.

After all, she said she didn't need it. That it was fine.

As for why she had taken them... Unfortunately, amongst legendary pokemon, Tapu Lele stood on the silent end.

The woman would just have to make a few educated assumptions.

At least the legenadary hadn't ran away upon being clearly seen.

Should Ameena's Gardevoir turn around, beckoned by the woman's emotion, the scientist would get a first hand look at how Tapu Lele had been messing with her earlier, casually hovering in the other psychic type's blind spot with obvious amusement in her silent giggling.

If she tried to look at the crystal surface again, she would notice the ghost was no longer behind her. And if she turned her attention to back to her desk—

She would notice a number of the vials containing the sauce the formula she had injected into her subjects earlier were... gone.

No, they were actually hovering around her hyperfocused Gardevoir.

And hanging out, directly behind her, was a... rare silhouette. Not the sort that belonged to any common pokemon, the round-ish, dark creature watching the data being transferred with a measure of interest, her head held in her palms.

Slowly, its head turned, cyan and magenta eyes gazing back at the woman.

A chill would run down the scientist's spine as she gazed over at her Gardevoir, the sensation of something hanging over her shoulder becoming stronger.

Any attempts at turning around to look, however, would be met with nothing. Maybe she should've done like her subjects and gone to sleep too...

However... if one tried to be particularly clever, and perhaps peek over to the glass cabinets...

An egg-ish ghost appeared to hover behind her.

He had guessed that Lucia was an escapee of sorts; had known team rocket had been involved somehow, so he was pretty much prepared for what he thought was the worst.

He had severly underestimated what the worst could be, however. Somehow, he continued to underestimate the cruelty of a dedicated rocket, even to their own family.

He didn't know what this whole godlike sensation nosense was about, but he had about enough of watching poor Lucy struggle.

He reached out slowly, grasping at the collar choking her out before it popped like a balloon, confetti raining around them as he then threw his arms around the girl, hugging her firmly.

"Disagreed. Your parents sound like horrible people to me. Not you." He said simply, patting her head. "Why... would you believe any of what happened is your fault?"

"You know I ain't got nothing on me, come on." He answered with a snicker, pulling open his jacket to show that he carried nothing except for his pokeballs.

He was walking backwards as he said this. Very unsubtly.

"Well, it would sure suck if they weren't here, no?" He said with a cheeky grin.

Oh, so he was just assuming there had to be people there. Neat.

"Asking people is a lot easier than trying to decipher hieroglyphs for ourselves, no?"

Little did he know, they would have to do that anyway.

As she reached out to the cone, it very subtly inched away from her grasp.

Not subtly enough that anyone with eyes would miss, of course, but the attempt had been made.

Eventually, it ran out of space to escape to, short of falling off the desk.

So it did just that, falling off and to the floor.

However, there was no clattering sound as it lande—

It was not on the floor.

Like a pen falling off a distracted student's hand, it had seemingly vanished to a netherealm the moment the woman lost sight of it, however briefly.
