we chatted briefly through discord, so here I am! after taking a look at skyler, i think it'd be totally hype to have them interact. especially since they have a lot of overlap in their personalities and likes— thais is also a sailor, though she's more of a shiphand who does the lilycove/slateport route; she's also a bit superstitious, having grown up in a small religious community in Pacifidlog; and, lastly, she also loves to barhop. hehe

i think their biggest difference (i'm speculating here ofc) is that thais is less ambitious and perhaps a bit more impulsive/immature than skyler, which could lead to some interesting situations. thais also has a big weakness called "pretty girls", so i'm sure she's gonna lay on the charm thick. anyway, perhaps thais could do some odd jobs for skyler on her boat or work as a shiphand? just some ideas. lmk!

Thais Flores was known for being a bit of an adrenaline junkie.

It got worse on her days off. With too much time on her hands and too little responsibility, Thais had a tendency to go along with the first idea that popped in her brain. No matter how dangerous or troublesome. It was part of her brand, she'd tell herself, as she threw herself in another one of her 'adventures'. She'd broken her nose, her arms, her nose again, her little toe on her right foot. Perhaps getting a hobby would be less expensive and less dangerous. But to Thais Flores, sailing the great open seas was her hobby.

"We'll get it this time, Rip!" called Thais from the shore of Lilycove City, one foot on the sheer rock cliff. She other she lowered down onto her Sharpedo, a beastly specimen. The Pokémon chattered as Thais hopped down onto it, holding its dorsal fin like a parasailer might cling to their vessel. "I feel like this is a good day. Today we're gonna beat the record."

Lilycove to Mossdeep. Record time: eight minutes and six seconds. They could do better. They could do so much better. "Start up your engines, Riptide!" Thais goaded on, gripping the beast's fin with her water-proof gloves. Riptide rumbled beneath her like a massive boat propeller starting to turn. She gave a sharp whistle - and then they were off, cutting through the waters like a torpedo. Brilliant white foam splashed through the air in their wake. Thais grit her teeth, a wicked smile spreading across her face. She felt the brine and the wind against her skin, sharp and exhilarating. Each time Riptide flew out of the water, her stomach tossed, adrenaline coursing through her veins. Two minutes and a quarter on the clock. C'mon, bud. We're gonna make it.

What Thais did not account for was the family of four swimming right in the middle of Route 124. Two children, a girl and a boy, played in their neon inner tubes while a gentle-eyed Swampert pulled them about. Mom and Dad weren't far off, clicking pictures on their phones. And then came a crazy twenty year-old on her murder machine and, well, it wasn't going to be a good time. As Thais frantically tried to steer Riptide away from the family, the parents shrieking, the children wailing - the family Swampert swam forward and jumped to action.

In all honesty, Thais probably deserved it. She was speeding in the kiddy zone, after all. The ocean water turned muddled and brown, churning about as the Swampert flung a Muddy Water in her direction. What followed next was complete chaos: Riptide's rough fin slipped from her grip, leaving red burns on her fingertips; Thais flew like a sack of potatoes through the air; her Sharpedo slammed into a nearby rock. And then... everything went black.

Which brings us to the present. Somehow, Riptide had managed to find her bobbing in the waves. No doubt the gash on Thais' brow had attracted it, blood flowing into the ocean, but Riptide was polite enough to not eat its own Trainer. The Sharpedo drags her back to shore as far as it can, nosing Thais' limp body onto the sand. She rolls over with a little groan, on the edge of conscience. The clouds twist up in the sky as her head throbs, spinning them into cotton candy creations. So much for a day off.
