[break]the Beauforts were an old Hoenn family that partakes in medical professions. be it scientific or old world, they rose as a stable in the environment and economy. with Zinnia's parents in Alola studying the various tropical plants and form changes in Pokémon, she was raised by her grandmother in Slateport City. the elder was a kind and supportive woman who perhaps babied her granddaughter a bit much.

Zinnia's parents were researchers and constantly traveled. her grandmother was the only reliable guardian in her life. soft-spoken from a young age, the girl was taught to be quiet and obedient yet also disciplined. she was a studious youngster who excelled in her studies, but she had a kind heart that wanted to help others. her grandmother would pass along the knowledge of making medicine and incense.

the girl took to it immediately, finding joy in both making something from nothing and also carrying the Beaufort legacy. her skills added to the stand at the Market in Slateport. while others her age went off on adventure, Zinnia was comforted knowing even if she failed as a trainer she'd have a job. she had a purpose. nobody could take that away from her.

stuck mostly inside all day practicing her craft has made her withdrawn and shy. this conflicts with her Tsareena, a bold and very outspoken Pokémon; a gift from her mother that often causes anxiety. her Ribombee is more soothing, acting as the meditator between the pair. he is the only one who can calm Tsareena down once riled up. Tsareena just wants her trainer to have confidence - or release her, it's embarrassing.

in 2017, Slateport City is invaded. the family flees to Lilycove with help from others. Zinnia is left behind while her grandmother escapes first. when everything is resettled the Beauforts take several contracts from Rocket and move back to Slateport. it's to survive, to protect... even if they have to abandon their values. standing with neither League or Rocket, they take it one day at a time.

Zinnia disapproves of this business, but cannot find the courage to act out or even join the League. though her grandmother tries to keep her away from Rocket folks and their business on the shady side... it sometimes does not work. mingling does happen eventually. meek and scared, the woman is often pushed into trouble when she least wants it.
