"pretty sure he has ears and eyes everywhere."

he wouldn't put it past the man. it seems like something a politician would do. whatever it takes to get the upper hand, he supposes. not like he'll ever care enough about it.

"he hasn't really bothered me since we got here. i think he gave up on me a while ago."

he sighs, then turns to smile at his sister.

"i'm going to be a detective soon. in a few months, i think."

"don't say that, jessie."

but self-deprecation seems to run in the family. perhaps there's a reason why.

"dad caused a scene?"

to be fair, it's hard not to cause a scene just by being that big of a presence. still, he sighs, shaking his head as he shares his sister's frustrations.

"fuck. i hope he never visits the precinct."

is that an unown in the background? most likely not, but it's enough for him to complete the bingo prompt.

"oh. you know how important families sometimes have documentaries made about them?"

milk continues to be squeezed into the bucket.

"i figured one might be good for us. you know, for the locals to get to know us a bit better."

"you know me. i never lose faith."

ever the optimist, he watches as she misses her shot, though his words still hold true. the man has faith that borders on being blind at times.

"i gotchu."

he picks up his ball then tosses it right into a cup in front of brody.

"got yo' ass brody, now drink!"

they're behind one cup which means they gotta play catch up.

brody, of all people, tries to bounce it into uri's cup. the ball gets smacked away, sent flying all the way to hit the bartender across his cheek.

"oops! my bad!"

truth is, they've both just been really busy between training and dating that they've barely found time to do anything else. things are starting to slow down, however, as he continues to settle in with the police.

"join the club."

the disappointment club, as they both are in the gorilla eyes of their father.

"fuck him, man. he's just a dick."

'a dick' is sugar coating it.

he sighs, admitting something he's known for a long time.

"i don't think anything we do will ever be good enough for him."

"the decision was mine, dad."

not hers nor anyone else's. if gabe had paid any attention to them growing up, he'd know that being a cop was something uri always talked about. but, of course, he wouldn't know.

he sits on the opposite side of the miltank before starting to milk it as well.

"i'm on track to becoming a detective. it should happen within the next few months, if i keep it up."
