this is the first time he's heard the name. he assumes she means her brother, but he can't seem to recall ever seeing him in pictures or on base.

he misses it. they were much simpler times. but they can only move forward, not back, so there's no point dwelling in the past.

perrserker takes a break from keeping watch and strolls over to uri, sitting by his feet. he reaches forward to give the cat's beard some good scratches.

"well, we're not going anywhere, so you have time to think about it."

"like, mine's probably when i was young, i'd stay up really late just watching movies with my mom and siblings. i think we didn't sleep at all one night. passed out at school the next day, but it was worth it."

pretty irresponsible from his mom, to be fair, but it's still a good memory nonetheless.

perrserker, like most cats, are alert as fuck, and so uri has no worries with letting bob keep watch with them, too. he's also pretty sure they can see in the night.

he really should have a pokemon out here as well, and so he calls one out after her dusk lycanroc appears. thankfully for the both of them, it isn't kachow.

a bearded cat appears, immediately sniffing the air as though it were a dog.

"bob, keep watch with us."

meow, says the perrserker.

"cool. i almost ended up in canalave university but i decided against it."

for obvious reasons.

"i was really just going to walk us around in circles right outside."

but her suggestion sounds much better, honestly. he does, however, stop to think for a moment: does she want to? possibly, since she was the one who brought it up.

and so, he nods, smiling at her for a moment before looking away, keeping watch.

"where'd you go for university?"

it's not enough sugar for him, honestly, as he cracks open the can of charja-cola that's still surprisingly cool. who designs these cans? Zac Ramsay? amazing.

he accepts the pack of gummy bears and tosses a few more into his mouth, chewing.

"i don't think i can sleep either."

peering up at her, he asks:

"wanna go for a walk?"

sol's never mentioned university, at least not that he can remember, so it's a nice bit of information to know even if he's already assumed as much considering how one needs a degree to be a captain. he's pretty sure he read that somewhere once.

"nah don't worry. i got it."

with a smile, he pulls his backpack over to his feet, reaching in for a bottle of water.

"here. i also have charja-cola but that might be way too much sugar for one night."

it's spicier than the usual, and again, the soup it makes if one were to cook it would be red, so maybe uri definitely has a thing for the color...

throwing the last of the gummy bear into his mouth, he exhales, gazing at their surroundings.

"i can take the first watch so you can get some sleep."

the green one's his least favorite, that much is certain, but he wouldn't not eat it because that just seems like a waste of a good gummy bear, and they deserve better than that.

"don't knock it 'til you try it, sol. next time you're around we'll crunch some up and you'll be blown away."

"it's a ton of sodium, though, so i wouldn't recommend eating it daily."

the gummy bear smacks against his cheek but a quick hand reaches up to catch it, saving it from bitter demise. he laughs then, turning to look at her, half-tempted to toss it back.

instead, he tosses it up, catching it with his mouth. it's almost impressive if not for the way he childishly smirks after.

"i can't believe you'd toss me a green one. ew."

he extends his hand toward her, palm facing up as if to ask for a handful.

"you ever crunch up instant noodles and then sprinkle the seasoning into the pack? probably that."

"orange ones are good when mixed with reds. trust me on this."

if only she had trusted him enough to mix mayo and ketchup on her hotdog...

"in years? oh no, sol..."

his voice shifts, teasing as he looks at her. he feigns a pout, then breaks into a chuckle.

"what's your favorite candy?"
