[attr="class","uriah"]uri's not usually one to think things through but they both knew as much because if he were to think things through maybe they wouldn't even be here right now. the thought does occur to him as they sit there in silence, listening to nothing else but the sound of rolling waves pushing and pulling.

it's peaceful.

"i dunno. it just feels really nice, i guess."

she deserves a bit more than that, so with a sigh, he continues.

"it makes me feel warm."

the smirk he wears doesn't last for long. it breaks, fading to be replaced by a soft smile instead.

"i'm kidding, sol. i wasn't thinking when i did it."

with a shrug, he follows her gaze to the beach.

"guess i just wanted to have a little fun."

these words bring with them a smile, warm and genuine, and he nods in return, clearly relieved as he lets out a soft exhale.

he shifts a little in the water, bracing himself against the push and pull of the waves that pass by him. he peers back up at her, inviting her with a smirk.

"you gonna join me?"

[attr="class","uriah"]the push is not gentle in the slightest. he tips over, falling back into the water with a splash.

when he surfaces, there's a look of confusion on his face.

was she even mad to begin with?

"again, mean, but i hear you. it won't happen again."

he remains sat in the water, barely avoiding the waves that come crashing into the side of his head.

peering up at her, he offers a gentler smile this time.

"so, we good?"

"there's nothing i can do, really..."

a wave washes past him, slapping against his back. still hurts less than this conversation, however.

"...except apologize. so, sol, i'm sorry."

[attr="class","uriah"]it's a horrible feeling that follows, one that he experiences a little too often whenever he has to interact with GABRIEL BLACK.

guilt.

but this is different; this is warranted.

"that you didn't want to go in too deep."

he clears his throat, looking around them.

"but technically, we aren't really that deep."

they're exactly where she stopped earlier. he chuckles softly, looking at her with an innocent expression that's borderline smug, but not quite.

[attr="class","uriah"]oh shit. she doesn't look happy. in hindsight, it might not have been the best idea considering how she had expressed her concerns about not wanting to get wet.

and yet, a stupid smile lingers on his face despite the palpable tension that surrounds them.

"you alright, sol?"

[attr="class","uriah"]resistance is expected but not quite to this level, though he probably should've expected it given how she's a captain and he's...well, a mere officer with far less combat experience. as athletic as he may be, athleticism only goes so far when combated against experience.

"uh..."

lost for words, he's distracted by the coldness in her voice which allows her to easily pull him down into the water with her.

after a splash, he surfaces, chuckling.

guess he should just lean into it, huh?

"that's my bad! my hand slipped."

slipped right into the water the same way he takes a step towards her, slipping down low if only to try and gently tackle her into the water.

[attr="class","uriah"]uri's not nearly as careful in the water as she is. his strides are large and heavy enough to kick up water all around them. it isn't until she comments that he realizes, but even if he had earlier it's not like he would've done anything differently.

"sol...this isn't much of a dip."

they've barely gone past like ten steps from shore. he's exaggerating, but still.

he turns to look at her, sighing.

"but i got you."

and splashes water over at her.

with an eager smile, he takes her purse before walking over to place it by his stuff. he debates taking his shirt off as well but decides against it, perhaps knowing it'll just ruin what he plans to do later.

"come on."

he reaches for her arm briefly only to tug her forward, going a little bit deeper into the water. waves splash against him, coming up to his knees.

[attr="class","uriah"]oh. now that she said it, maybe it is because the sand is warm and so is the sun. huh.

still, he pouts, just in time to get punched in his arm, and it's definitely not gentle.

"ow okay, okay, i take it back. i'm sure she's adorable."

it's still pretty random, though. a goat in the house? wild.

he smiles as she steps into the water only to have an idea flutter into existence. he drops his flip-flops and the bottle of water onto the sand, safe from the water, and pulls out his phone and wallet to lay them beside it.

turning back to her, he grins, nodding toward the water.

"wanna go for a quick dip?"

fuck, the sunburns he's had in his lifetime have been horrible. he glances up, thankful that the sun isn't too bright out today.

her response has him chuckling.

"just the random skiddo, then?"

he kicks off his flip flops and reaches down to carry them as well, straying off to the side with her, closer to the water.

"i still have no idea why kachow likes you so much. he's not a dog, last i checked."
