so he turns back to the door and with a tug, he realizes it doesn't open anymore. he tries again, and again, and again, but it's to no avail.

[attr="class","uriah"]uriah definitely believes he lives a stressful life, one that he wishes he could escape at times. which is exactly what he's doing this weekend, seeing as how his good friend Martín del Mar invited him out to lavaridge to have a relaxing getaway.

it's who he expects when he steps into the room, closing the door behind him a little too hard.

[attr="class","uriah"]breakfast definitely could've been nicer; he could've done things differently, added a few extra spices in, and these are the things he thinks about in the moment: what he could've done better.

if he had, maybe she would've stayed.

the smile lingers even after she turns. he takes a step after, though struggles to find the words to say until the door opens and closes.

"oh yeah no problem. you said you were in a rush."

after a final bite of his bacon that suddenly tastes stale, he stands as well, offering her a small smile.

"thanks for staying for breakfast. i promise i cook better when i'm not hungover."

[attr="class","uriah"]even uriah, as dumb as he can be at times, notices the intent behind her words, or at least assumes them, and at the sight of her putting her fork down, he sort of understands.

is he pushing too much?

he remembers she had been in a rush to get out of here before but he thought she'd at least finish breakfast. he stops eating as well, holding the fork between fingers as he looks across at her to ask:

[attr="class","uriah"]at her place? sure, he'll go over, but he doesn't expect her to be that direct about it. he takes her invitation in stride, nodding to accept.

"tacos it is. my favorite flowers are white orchids, by the way."

yeah, fancy definitely doesn't suit them, and in all honesty, he'd be fine with just going to a food truck. all he wants it to spend time with her outside of work, and this dinner allows him to do just that.

"maybe next weekend?"

uriah contemplates letting it pass but decides against it. he has to stand his ground, be firm, and make what he wants clear.

he tries his best.

"or we could just compare them together. the kitchen's big enough for both of us."

another sip of his coffee looks to dull the pulsing pain. he sighs at the failed attempt.

"you still owe me dinner, after all."

not that he minds.

at her top three, he can't help but laugh a little, though that only seems to make the headache worse. he brings a hand up to nurse his head, rubbing gently.

"and i'm the basic bitch."

but he nods, approving.

"good choices. i know how to make all of those, too."

there's something implied behind his words and it won't be difficult for her to find. he practically laid it out in front of her.

he laughs because in all honesty he probably is a basic bitch. he likes the simple things, the popular things, and often doesn't make much effort to find anything more specific or more hidden.

cupcakes.

it does sound like a surprise. the thought of sol baking cupcakes is cute, he decides, and the image lingers on his mind for a bit.

"uh, you're wrong, but that's okay."

after a short chuckle, he voices a question:

"what are your top three dishes?"

nothing wrong with the others, of course, but the people from kalos just seem to be really creative, almost as though they're on a different level entirely.

he lazily stabs at his food with his fork, eating without much care to being polite or courteous.

even now, as hungover as he is, his attention rests solely on her as he listens with genuine interest.

"what's your favorite thing to bake?"

[attr="class","uriah"]sol would definitely let him fall on the pan; he doesn't doubt this for a second. thankfully for both of them, he makes it to the table safe, sound, and very hungover.

he accepts one of the steaming cups with a grateful smile, nodding at her question, though remaining silent for moments as to consider whether he should say it...

"...i actually really like cooking."

with a shrug, he blows steam away from his cup before sipping coffee. it helps just a little.

"i love watching those chef shows and copying what they do. it's fun."

and, fuck, he likes her.

it's said with a wink that he realizes she probably can't see because his back's turned. finishing off the eggs, he moves them over to slices of toast that have already been plated and then tops it all off with greasy bacon.

carrying the plates over to a small dinner table, he sets them down, then turns to look at her with a smirk.

"the uriah hangover special."

"in that cupboard over there."

the eggs continue to be stirred; he's careful to be gentle, but really he doesn't have strength for much else.

"i dunno. more dead, i guess, kinda like how i look now."

he says as he continues to lean against the fridge. he's not actually sure how long he's going to be able to stay on his feet after this, so hurry up, eggs.

"but i meant it as a compliment, sol."
