Personality: Very open-minded and kind-hearted, though seems to struggle deeply with self-worth and accomplishment. He’s self-sacrificing, guarded about his past, and much of his self-image is rooted in what he sees as mistakes of his past. He cares deeply for others whether they be human or Pokemon, and tries his best to be supportive to everyone he can. However, he’s prone to brutal honesty to those who test his patience or those who are needlessly rude or cruel to others. He also does not respect any authority he personally deems doesn’t deserve to be in said authority for one reason or another, which may make people seem him as slightly arrogant.[break][break]
History: Originally from Alola, Toki’s grandparents moved there from Hoenn after a vacation entranced them with the local culture. Toki’s nickname growing up was ‘Leilani,’ which was Alolan for either ‘heavenly garland of flowers’ or ‘royal child,’ a nickname he doesn’t quite believe he deserves due to his mistakes growing up. Always the shy, timid sort, Toki grew up an only child with no real drive to make friends. Petrified of failure, he never attempted the Island Challenges which only served to make him feel more ostracized than before, despite having many who would try to tell him otherwise.[break][break]

As a result of his own lack of self-worth and fear of failure, he fell in with a bad crowd during high school. While his studies didn’t falter, he got into all sorts of petty trouble around his hometown of Heahea City. One day, however, the gang had a massive falling out, leading to a collapse of the entire organization. Everyone just drifted apart and went on with their lives, and Toki was left with the wake up call that all he did was follow a bunch of troublemakers around without really making friends. The realization that he would have rather caused trouble than bother properly communicating with people hit him hard, and he fell into a depression after high school.[break][break]

Not long after high school, he met a Pokemon that would inspire him to do something with his life. A young Popplio he met while volunteering at a Pokemon Center. The poor Pokemon was orphaned, and the center staff took notice of their bond and allowed Toki to take them as his own. Naming her Azura, he set up a plan to make something of his life. He decided he wanted to set out for his family homeland of Hoenn and become a Pokemon Ranger. His father, a Pokemon conservation expert, helped Toki along in this plan by providing him some more Pokemon to fill his team.[break][break]
At the age of 20 he left for Hoenn to begin his training. After about a year of work, he worked his way up to Cadet status, and is ready to set out and make a name for himself.
