Sidney shrugs, a soft laugh rising in the air. “It’s funny, I think it’s the opposite for me.” Her eyes dart toward his, then away. “My thoughts always feel so much louder when it’s quiet.”[break][break]
And maybe that’s why she’s always moving too, because she’d rather keep running from any thought she has that has to do with slowing down.[break][break]
She skips forward a few paces, then spins to face him.[break][break]

It burns on the way down, but her throat is already somewhat numbed by the first round. “Oh yeah? And what do you have in mind?”[break][break]
She watches him, expectantly so, only for another laugh to follow.[break][break]
“I hadn’t thought of that.” Well, not right then, anyway. It hadn’t been lost on her before. “Can’t say I know yours, either.”[break][break]
Her head tilts. “Suzume.” She stops short, blinking a few times as it sinks in that she’s handed him her real name. The one she hasn’t gone by at least since she left Johto.[break][break]
Must be the liquor. Well, she can roll with it, she supposes. As far as she’s aware, he’s not in Rocket, so it shouldn’t cause some sort of ripple effect.[break][break]
It can stay right there. Between them.

Sid preens under the remark, rather than find some way to be annoyed about it. She could hem and haw about how there is more to her than her looks (there is, of course,) but she is also perfectly confident in using said looks in a favorable situation.[break][break]

“Alright then, keep up the pace, if ya think ya can.”[break][break]
Her grin is amused as she leans forward, an elbow leveraging her weight as it props against the bar. Blue eyes fix on him as she studies his face through her lashes.[break][break]
“Would you now?” Voice a curling tease. “Could think of a few ways to spend some time with you.” Sidney pauses, a snicker creeping loose, “No ghosts to startle you this time.”[break][break]
Another pause, this time to knock back a swig of her whisky. “Could try your hand at the styler again, though, if you’re feeling particularly bold.” Or some similar equivalent. Not that she thinks he could actually wrangle her if he tried.

“Is there such a thing as too busy?” she wonders aloud, a finger tapping against her chin before she tucks a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “I like the noise, though.” Too quiet, and she’d start to get antsy. “What’s the thing you like the most about the quiet?”[break][break]
She can’t quite relate, but she’s curious and that says something, at least.[break][break]
A short bark of laughter follows. “Yeah, ‘bout as opposite as you can get, I think. There’s just something exciting about striking out somewhere new.”[break][break]

Really and truly, he doesn’t need to worry too much, because whatever he cooks is probably much better than whatever she can do.[break][break]
She laughs, head tilting, “I know what gyudon is! But I’ll wait to be impressed.” Again, probably way better than her own cooking, and authentic homemade food usually trumps everything in general. “Can’t remember the last time I actually had home cooking,” Sidney adds, peering up at him.[break][break]
And instant noodles or mac n’ cheese made in her microwave don’t count.[break][break]
“Sure, whatcha got?” She pokes her head in the fridge, curious as a gust of cool air hits her in the face.

Okay, so she did feel guilty for taking the musharna out. She tried not to look as Noct unleashed a level of brutality that wasn’t often utilized. It was an unconscious creature, and she doubted it was truly malevolent. It didn’t know any better. But this is what they had been paid to do, and she wanted that payout for her work. So in the end, Sid wouldn’t lose too much sleep over it.[break][break]
Not really.[break][break]
“It just looked so harmless,” she replied before shaking her head, “but that’s probably good self-defense for something that always sleeps, huh?”[break][break]
Sidney let out a heavy breath. “Extra strenuous job, too.” She was certainly glad it was done and over with—no more paradoxes there to lash out en masse from the shadows.[break][break]
So long as they cut out of here fast, that was.[break][break]
Her gaze slid toward Prime, and the genesect’s continued brutality. Combined with the suggestion of breakfast, Sidney’s nose wrinkled as her stomach turned over. It sort of sounded unappealing, but— “Yeah, breakfast sounds great.” Her attention flit back to Oscar as he sassed the droid. “Pancakes sound amazing right now.”[break][break]
Sort of, but once they were out here, Sidney was fairly certain her appetite would come back with a raging vengeance. It always did, never failed. She’d get over this squeamishness in a blink.[break][break]
She carefully avoided looking at the musharna again as they left, though.
