the area produces a feeling of hopelessness.

fira is but a scarce aid in this darkness but, he learns to appreciate what it offers. he settles in the silence for awhile, the golden beast carefully keeping her flame covered tail close to the shivering figure.

he isn't in any need for a frantic rush. at least not yet. the water—proof bag proves a truly capable use. tanned hands, concealed by the entirety of the wear, manage to pull out a flashlight. unfortunately the brilliance of fira is not enough to creep into the shadowy fold.

"lets go," jay moves vigilantly, noticing how greatly the floor has been affected by the rise and fall of the water. although he is already chilled by the thrilling dive, the sense of being trapped in an untouched world has a chill traveling up his spine. even the charizard seems distressed by their current surroundings.

ugh...what the hell? the putrid odor grows upon every fall of their feet. it had been fused with the rise of salty waters but, now was quite akin to a stranded and rotting fish. a hand covers the lower half of his face, frowning against the essence as if to force it elsewhere.

suddenly fira leaps forward. in her caution for this placing, the beast had already perceived the dangers of the corpse, taking the clouded substance directly to the face. possibly even within her always—glaring eyes.

"hey!" adjusting the flashlight, he thinks twice about touching whatever foul texture has been bombarded against the features of the beast. she shakes her head, earning a startling step backwards as the rest is throttled towards the damp floors.

"arceus, you scared me." he said, annoyed though grateful. the object is directed towards the body of the tentacruel, stranded and decaying. death is familiar to him. the same smells, the bloody residue and the same empty feeling. in just dull observation, there is a sound that catches his attention.

"this way." wishing to move further from the horrid smell and discover the source of the noise. fira follows, still bothered by whatever had splattered into her face. as if something had wedged itself into her eyes, she learns to push through it in heavy blinks.

at least for now.

jay listens.

despite never expressing his sheer fascination at the present conversation, he listens, quietly. the drink is a pretext to prevent him from speaking. bitter alcohol burns at his throat, though, he relishes in the taste.

its been awhile — he thinks, nearly downing it all.

the girl catches his eyes however. the wandering gold that watches the city before them. jay doesn't respond for a few, measly seconds. there is simplicity to the eventually answer, surprisingly it leaves him thinking.

"no choice," he says, quickly following suit, "just doing this now is dangerous. especially for you." understanding the logic behind someone associated with the league, willing to be—friend a criminal was something he had yet to comprehend.

then again, it wasn't like the league was all good.

"life is always busy," lastly, he looks towards cait, his gaze unnerving and cool, "for both of us...i can imagine." the girl hadn't always been a gym leader. from the way she'd spoken earlier, he assumed this duty was completely new. not that it deterred her of her worth. everyone started somewhere.

others — in a much darker place.

he doesn't press onward. exposing his duties would probably leave the girl feeling sick. as much as jay willed at the back of his mind to leave, there was something nostalgic about the girl. something he simply couldn't afford in hurting. then again, he was always one to break such inward oaths.

to say his innocence was intact would've been a lie.

jay is a known face. although the force, especially hoenn, should've grown familiar with it. some were willing to let it slip. ooze by their fingers at a steady and never—ending pace. obviously some things couldn't be forgotten. he, more than anyone, knew that.

the rooftop is the perfect place to get away. more—so in flight than figuratively. as such, he is already settled in the elevator before the other steps within, so clearly enthralled by his phone he wouldn't gander the chance in looking elsewhere. good, jay thinks, tugging the visor of his baseball hat further down.

just as the tension subsides, it curdles to a horrid level at the stop of the elevator. the lights may remain, yet, the motion does not. jay makes an apparent tch! at the delay. pressing the button till the eventual monitor lets them know they are doing emergency maintenance.

"great." he says, grumbling.

these two look like they'd get along—— lul just kidding.

besides that i think they could make for some potential comedy with how standoffish and cold they are. plus they might even work well together? not that he'd appreciate the fact she didn't do much during the raid :eyes:

we could def do some missions together! b all badass n shiz! i think could be fun tbh! they might even end up becoming mission partners or something!

i'd love for them to clash somehow! jay is usually disturbing areas of great importance and history, hoping to get his hands on any sort of artifacts that will be of help.

dully — the expression remains.

the cool persona is bound to his outward display, what flounders about in that mind is an absolute mystery. chattering hovers above him as though he'd been drowning, it is suffocating and uncomfortable.

this is the last place he'd like to get chased within. in more ways than one — part of him wonders if cait was truly aware of his intentions. would she jump boat if she knew how deep the waters truly were?

"not usually..." he answers, slowly, his voice rough yet gentle all the same, "what about you?" jay changes the subject quickly, directing her interest elsewhere. if he can even manage such. the gym leader is truly persistent — a forward innocence that permits him from never acting out.

those rules never stay.

"—and don't mention it," a flip sided approach to her words, he looks towards the nearby window. mauville truly has a remarkable sight as the evening creeps ever—near, "i should be the one thanking you." difficult to wager on the truth, he remains absent of expression.

ridiculous — was what this was.

forced into the notion of making pastries for his superiors was just as far—fetched as a simple outing with miss cait alfric . only this time it was a nuisance that bothered him beyond anything else. rocket was crowded by the oddity of allowing almost anyone to participate despite their control over slateport.

jay — already adjusting an apron over his wear passes a glance towards fira. the charizard watches him with the same curious look she'd had a few days before. perhaps it was simply curious to see him doing something so contrast to his usual brutality.

"lets just get this over with," he says, grumbling in dreadful anticipation for the rest that were to arrive, "they're gonna regret making me do this." — of course the criminal was nothing short of a disaster within the kitchen. at least, whoever else had been ushered into this occasion, might've proven worth in their sweets.

he wasn't used to this.

for the most of his life, jay stood at the very bottom, the grimy unkempt and forgotten world that so many refused to look at. it was his bloodshed that reveled in their nightmarish reality and it was also why he chose to hide so far from the public eye — especially now.

league knew his face. the near onslaught of murdering a gym leader, only to be saved by another seemed odd. what was more odd was him agreeing to this outing. he should've denied, despite the offer coming off like a broken record, there was something nostalgic about the girl. something that ushered up approval.

jay let out a sigh, kneading the temple of his head as fira looked at him, baffled and curious. it wasn't everyday the figure of cruelty took the time in looking presentable. he wore a dark blazer, underlined by a grey dress shirt and snugly fitted slacks. disheveled strands were forced back, kept from his tanned features.

"don't look at me like that." he said, although the charizard did not comply. her recognition for her trainer's innocent discomfort had her feeling amused. eventually the pair were soaring forth, over towns and cities that dazzled in the closely brought evening. the beast landed a few lengths from the awaiting cait alfric, eyeing her with the same hateful look it had always had.

although he saw her, his gaze didn't linger. the companion disappears into its capsule as soon as he makes for the ground, approaching the girl.

"you look nice," mentioned simply to be polite would've been an understatement. for a moment, jay didn't recognize her. "lets go." he says quickly, breaking the fact that he'd even complimented the gym leader. in his seemingly mysterious mind, he was hoping to get this over with. lest — anyone recognize him.

no matter what — at the end of it all — he is still mortal.

the brutality of his attempts, even within the normality of his companion's destructive force, is met by retaliation. their strength is not regarded individually, but by the mass of each attack and jay contests the psychic with his own, useless willpower.

two garchomp, poised either side with a draco meteor direct of their view seems like the end. instead, the flash of light catches the smoke in a blinding flare. the matter explodes and is enough just to send fira reeling backwards. he feels his cheek stinging from the aftermath of rubble bursting, and touches his cheek.

blood red is smeared across the tip of his finger. it is a reminder in his eyes, that it could've been worse. or maybe — it had been worse before this. either way, the pair are bought freedom in the descent of this massive shadow. the ugly and impure version of ho-oh.

through what seems surreal within their reality, jay notices cait alfric in the departing smog, then regards aza, still managing to withhold his ground in-spite of the onslaught in his frightening attempts. the dragon makes contact with his companion, in a flicker of their eyes, as if strangely relieved, it notices the girl and her pokemon.

wasting no time, garchomp is immense in speed and charges forth. his long, tarnished claws are anything but careful of the pair, forcing them to come upwards and away from the all — certain end — of sacred fire. aza holds onto cait alfric and her maractus, irritated by its spiky fold as he approaches the glaring fira.

"are you alright?" jay calls, offering the girl but a brief concord to his sudden exposure in murderous intent. the humanity in his gaze is short—lived at the mumbling desperation for boris and his true wish.

the fading solidity of the floor shudders beneath the weight of the abomination, it crushes the figure of unfamiliarity and jay doesn't flinch at its gruesome picture. besides ho-oh — it is the dead that has him frowning, knowing well that what has passed cannot be brought back just as they were.

instinct is held back like the reins of a wild beast. beneath them is a hellish ordeal, much worse than the flame ridden tower beneath their feet. he needs a chance. anything to rid the world of what should simply not exist. even if the onlookers may think otherwise.

» garchomp is slightly injured, though swoops over to save cait alfric and her monz from the oncoming fire.
» jay just watches above, waiting for a chance to strike.

league is not as undermined as he originally thought.

the ice is a weak hold against the flare of heat, smoke bursts forth in a heavy layer and forces the advance into a sudden halt. what had been so clear in his eyes dwindles into the coverage.

jay takes the force with measure for its power. he barely avoids the molten burst of stone, it catches the side of his face, blinding him before his figure slips from the edge. lungs— knocked of oxygen strangle against the current. even in the ache, roused upon his stomach and face, he forces through it quickly.

"fira!" charizard comes without delay. she gathers the situation quickly before swooping beneath her companion. jay is frazzled by the attack, but regains his composure as the beast thrums her wings back and towards the smog covered peak.

meanwhile, aza glares just as fiercely towards the opposing pokemon. the massive dragon does not find fear as the league swarm into the room like uninvited pests. the void of isolation floods itself in bitterness and rage. especially as jay is struck from the brink.

a deafening roar reverberates, startling any onlookers that have yet to take action. aza hovers into the air, slamming back into the ground as a destructive earthquake forms. surely the floor will start to collapse.

the equally hostile charizard appears behind Dallas Rhodes fletchinder and before the approaching NIKOLAI PETROV . golden pierces into those below and the disaster enacted by his garchomp. knowing it wasn't his original intent yet— relishing in the distraction it made.

"flamethrower." jay says upon the back of aza. flames slip past its jaws in tiny ounces, eventually cascading towards boris and jirachi. clearly he had no regard for the life of the tiny legendary or those close—by.
