They don't make it all that far, there a blink of sleep in his eyes and Evan finds himself against a tree. Slumped. Slowly he shifts to his back and down the bark because this kind of sleep isn't the normal kind that he could resist. The powder is in traces on his skin and in his system and he's just so damn tired.

The petilil clambers up to his shoulder and tugs at his hair and pokes at his cheeks. He murmurs but doesn't quite wake and she suddenly realizes she's probably at fault for this. It's not the first time it's happened either.

Evan takes a nap as the spider descends from the trees and his pokemon move to defend his sleeping body. Also not the first time this has happened....

A toxic thread is intercepted by the pschic energies of the pink pokemon, keeping them from touching the human at the base of the tree. His counter part is quick ot kick up a flurry of leaves to distract it and take its attention away and towards another tree, giving the psychic a chance to ready his energy and make his strike in between her's. She hopes the trail of stun spore might slow down their foe making it an easier target.

Future strike hits home and hypnosis is right behind it, the spider makes one last attempt the explosive psybeam strikes the tree he's against and rocks him awake with a start. He's looks around in a rush, trying to take in his surrounding and determine what has occured.

Once evan gathers his bearings he find another ball, if they did all the work of taking the spider out they may as well take it with them.

This time the whole party takes a breather because Evan wasn't really prepare for a giant bug just yet. He's sure there will be bigger and choose to take a breath to prepare for that. He's seen giant pokemon before but he's well aware that one must respect that a giant pokemon can and might just kill you if you make a wrong move.

The venonat waddles by uninvited and his petilil hops to the chase before he can tell her no. Technically time out is over so it's a legal move but that is beside the point.

She jumps straight to showering the wild pokemon with a flurry of stun spores that settle into its purple coat. It retorts with a gust of sleep inducing power and she pulls up a furious leaf storm to try and intercept it, spinning off into a different part of the forest all together. The munna seems to sense that this is not ideal and swoops in, psychic energies swirling around them as he prepares to intercept the next attack. The pokemon moves to step closer but the dreariness in its eyes from the petilil's sleep powder settles in, a wobbly step fall from underfoot and the pokemon is a sleep.

Evan almost misses it, rubbing his eyes and yawning while he tries to find another ball for the bug.

He tosses it, though he's not so sure he hits it dead on- just as long as it's close enough.

She chills out eventually and Evan taps his shoulder. She almost seems to whine because being on shoulder means she won't be doing the battling next. It's like being on time out but she does it anyway. Perching and pouting, she refuses to look at him. Instead the pokemon leans against the side of his head awkwardly and watches the forest go by as they walk through it. The trees almost lull her to sleep when something catches her eyes.

The pokemon finally acknowledges him again, a petal flapping at his cheek to get his attention. and make him look around. He turns and finds they are met with a giant Heracross.

"Woah."

Luckily the charging take down isn't aimed at them but at a nearby tree. Still to close for comfort and Evan books it away out of reflex, putting distance between him and the wild pokemon while he retrieves his Munna. "Vince, future sight into a headbutt." the pokemon yawns but obeys. The psychic energies ripple through the area, readying to strike.

He consentrates, the psychic energies that gather around his head bracing him against the rocks blasted his way once the heracross notices they are there. The pink pokemon goes head first, butting into the fighting bug as the psychic energy of his future sight collect on their target, a further explosion of energy pushing the pokemon back. A pin missile hits home but a rush of psychic energy forcing it back against a tree and pinning it does enough to keep it from going further.

Evan has found his feet in the mean time, another pokemon being retrieved from his pack for the bug he'll be taking home for the contest.

The Cottonee is much like his trainer, an individual that is content to wader haplessly and with no clear destination. He's not really paying attention as he makes his way through the daycare. He's already gotten out of the area they expect him to stay in twice and is escaping again with an absent swiftness.

Whatever this hallways leads to he hasn't seen it yet and it smells like something good may be at the end of it. So he should definitely inspect it right? At least once. Especially since he's certain it won't be long before the workers watching him realize he's gone again and come looking for him. He won't resist them when they do, just wait for them to turn around again.

What he doesn't expect to see is another one of the many pokemon that seem to be in the area. If only because they all seem to be in th enclosed area right?

The edge closer to inspect the noise and are met with shot of sticky webbing. One of his boots is anchored into the forest floor while his petilil manages to get herself out of the way. The Spewpa that emerges with powdery flakes falling from its surface. He's used to his Petilil being a bit intense but the look in her eyes distracts him from trying to get hit boot unstuck.

The grass type launches into a flurry of Magical leaves, shooting them at the bug as they materialize in front of her. If any of it hits the bug it seems to ignore them as it closes in and strikes out with a fanged bite. "Suzy, Synthesis and sleep powder."

She backs off, drifting into a spot of sunlight to refresh herself while he retrieves a pocket knife from his back pocket and slowly chips at the webbing before the sleep powder begins to settle on the area. Great for taking naps in the forest but not when trying to catch pokemon. The wild bug tries to close in again despite the sleepiness settling in and he barely gets the command out before she's showering it with stun spores. The pokemon flinches and the storm of leaves she follows up with is relentless until it falls.

He gives her a moment, untying his boots when he decides cutting through the webbing will be too much work. The loose shoe and socks get tossed in his back pack. A fished out ball for the contest get tossed at the spewpa while he waits for her to calm down.

"You know Suzy Q, never really been a fan of bugs." He tells the petilil at his side. She trills and twirls in response to him and he chuckles. "Thank you for humoring me girl." she seems to chitter your welcome.

His booted foot steps are clunky against the earth of Petalburg woods. Despite his many years he's never really mastered being graceful or purposeful in his steps. He tries not to step on anything that he could crush (Suzy Q helps, always getting flustered when he might step on a flower) but grace is not a word used to define Evan and tall frame.

A rustling in the leaves draws his attention. He might not be a fan of the creatures but he can at least make an attempt to find some.

Distracted, half asleep from spending too much time roaming around the woods and trying to dodge work makes it take a moment for him to register the pokemon and the flutter of its wings.

Normally he's not much for bug types but it's so darn pretty. His contonee is a bit more proactive in the situation than he is. Bumbling its way up to the wild pokemon to butt heads with it. The sleepy snort-laugh that follows from Evan is more than enough to seal the deal.

The pokemon dances around his, wings quivering. "Stun it bud." the sentient cotton ball responds in kind, shaking a round of stun spores about and the bug seems to return in kind. It's damn marvelous to watch. "Cotton spore." his pokemon fights through the effects of the spore, as the spores attach and slow down the pokemon Evan takes his chance.

Hopefuly he just doesn't miss this time.

The rock he was on a path to step on awakens with a glorious cry that startles the mimikyu into hiding behind his leg. For all her gusto Meg is quite the scaredy cat, sooner using Evan to hide from the scary unknown until she's certain about what she's up against. On the flip side Evan is quick to laugh even as the carbink bumps into his leg and starts trying to topple him over, stumbling backwards as he reaches for another of his pokeball.

"Do your thing Suzy Q" the popping sound gives way to the petilil while his mimikyu busies herself with her shadow, the it stretches and reaches to catch him at the waist before he falls and tumbles down from the path.

Within moments the area is surrounded by a dazzling powder. Flying rocks disrupt its path but does little to stop the carbink from feeling the effect. It becomes an easy target for her falling stun spores that follow and it's aught in its tracks, difficulty moving making way for the proomise that it might feel better after ti sleeps.

He tosses a pokeballs. "Perfect."

This is not the path you are supposed to follow.

Evan never really paid attention to that kind of nonsense though and it was exactly why his mimikyu was following behind him whining her worry away into the night sky.

"You fret too much meg, I'll be fine!" he misses a step and nearly falls. When the pokemon starts he sticks his tongue out at her and continues onward across the rocky path. He could have just hiked the way most did in the area surrounding rustboro but it seemed so... boring. he could ask every hiker that made their way by the bar about those paths. The again it was a hiker that had him going this way to begin with, telling him about a spot he couldn't help but hunt for.

evan disturbs something with his clunky and careless steps, and the mimikyu is hot on his feet to save him from trouble before they never make it home again.
