well the gaze of younger trainers was an unfortunate one.

shinra wasn't really trying to look like a...well...sweaty tourist. luckily for him the gym leader did approach him and reminded him that this gym was probably holding a lot more *hot* things inside of it. "oh don't worry," his face turned confident as he stretched his arm in a large circle and flexed it, "the heat never bothered me anyway. running around mt. chimney helps a lot with dealing with it. which means i can handle whatever you throw at me miss gym leader." he added a wink to that last sentence.

"what are ya rules. i'm ready to really work up a sweat if ya don't mind."

"well...it seems like other people think that floating chandelier is quite the match maker." shinra commented on the person who asked her for permission to use it. that's when the windows started to rattle which caused shinra's head to shoot straight up to look at them. was the weather starting to get that bad? it must have when the central fireplace suddenly went out as well as the warmth in the room.

slipping out a pokeball he let out his incineroar dante, the large cat stretching and letting out a yawn as it stretched its firey navel. "hey buddy, go see if you can't help out with a fire place or something. i'm gonna freeze to death if we don't keep the cold outta here." with a low and annoyed growl the cat went off towards the fireplace, letting out a small stream of fire to help light it up.

there was something satisfying about the feeling of landing that hit and seeing caius reel back onto the floor outside the ring. even more so when he could see the blood trickling down his face, just the sight of it was enough to make shinra's blood feel hot. what wasn't gonna feel hot was being pulled out by his feet as he tried to climb back into the ring and slammed into the barricade on the other side. his body had pressed hard into the bars and hit all the wrong spots, pain shot throughout his entire back as he let out a roar that only seemed to rile up the crowd.

he couldn't lie that he didn't understand their enthusiasm, despite the pain he was feeling so energetic right now. caius sure knew how to play rough and shinra couldn't be more happier to find an opponent like him.

still the pain was pretty heavy and standing up and holding himself against the barricade could only do so much. seeing caius by the steel steps it was pretty obvious what the plan was. run towards him and then ram into the steps, a classic move, and one that would be a good show for the crowd. however shinra had to stop himself from running in when he saw his incineroar creep up from behind caius with its fists raised together and brought down on the blonde man with both of them clenched together as he swung with a hammer attack. not wanting to waste his partner's cheap shot or even let caius know what was happening he charged at the blonde man aiming to spear him as well.

looking up from his fire he could tell that yes, this girl was going to be cold dressed like that, and gave her a quizzical raise of the eyebrow and a smile. "well ya ain't gonna keep warm wearing stuff like that. c'mon 'n sit down. we got plenty of room. and food too." he looked between his pikachu enjoying a warm berry and the incineroar bringing over the pot that they would be using for cooking in a few moments, "you hungry? we were all gonna enjoy some curry and grilled slowpoke tails if any of that is yer thing."

warming up by a fire just wasn't complete unless you were enjoying something to eat after all. once the pot was in place and the ingredients brought out shinra got to work throwing some slowpoke tails into it to let them sizzle. just the sound of it was music to his ears. "so what brings ya out here in the cold anyway? 'cause you look like you were supposed to be jogging to the nearest center, not forest."

the sun was slowly moving towards the treeline of the route, an indication that night time was steadily approaching and the cold winter air was going to creep up on those still outside. anything living still outside was now trying to find their way back home, pokemon of all sizes were taking shelter and any people still on the route were booking it home. shinra and his team were not exactly in a hurry to head back to the nearest center, no they were partaking in the age old tradition of camping out under the stars. the tent was set up and a small makeshift fire pit was put together and kindling of all kinds was set inside. they had done this many times already that it was almost second nature to them.

"alright! let's start roasting some berries!" he cried out and was met with applause from all the pokemon he had with him, anthony the pikachu already coming up with a stick in his mouth and an oran berry speared on top of it and took a seat next to shinra and held the stick close to the flames. "anyone know where i left the cooking pot?" from inside the tent out popped an incineroar holding up a large pan in which shinra gave him a thumbs up as he grabbed it and looked it over. "ok...dante go and find us some more berries. gotta make a lot of curry for everyone before we lose all our daylight."

the moment he stepped inside the gym he could already tell that he was going to work up a sweat. it was totally kick ass that there were hotsprings inside of the gym and he was honestly wondering if they were for use for the staff and even challengers. what wasn't kickass was that since it was so humid inside that his clothes were getting really damp, so shinra had to remove them. just his shirt really, his lower body had plenty of breath ability available to them so there was no problem there.

there wasn't even a problem with him being half naked, he didn't mind showing off his body to whoever was interested, but he was just a smidge worried about being called some kind of pervert as he made his way to the gym leader. "yo! here to challenge the gym to a good one on one!" he hollered as he went further in, his confidence swelling up inside of him.

or it could just be his body temperature.
