"oh uh..." well after that run in with pokemon he wasn't expecting to be asked why he, a total stranger, ran up and started petting a random stranger's pokemon. he should have anticipated it sure but he was just so... "well it was cute. and uh..."

he didn't want to say what he wanted with dante right there. he knew the pokemon would never understand! but it had to be done even at the expense of his best friend's feelings. hopefully forgiveness was a move that it knew. "i just think arcanines are really cute." his ears erupted with the sounds of angry growling as dante started to rip in his own language about the utter betrayal his trainer just displayed. playing a huge game of charades for group with a strange little pink creature mimicking his movements.

when it was apparent a fish in the snow was more interesting than the incineroar's dilemma dante noticed the mime jr by his feet and chased the thing off as it laughed while running away. meanwhile shinra was busy watching jet catch the fish and posed a question, "so what kind of pokemon are ya looking for anyway? anything in particular?"

"i think so. i think i read a story bout that place having a whole flock of these things as knights or something." if that was true then...well that was just a cool fact in general. as orion helped out as well with his own pokemon the group was on their way to town. the delibird dragged its feet alongside its sack, slowly catching up to the nidorino and letting out another angry squawk, scaring both the poison type and its trainer. "whoa what's up-oh."

the delibird hopped up onto dervish's back and gave it a kick of its feet, signaling him to continue on his way. shinra just rolled his eyes as he followed the two, "so buddy, what kinda plans ya got for the holidays? spending it with some family?" it was going to be a while till they get there, so they might as well pass the time somehow. "ooooor, you got a special someone your gonna visit?"

he swore he could hear a woman moaning but it was hard to see with this blizzard going on around him. why would anyone even be out here? he didn't want to be here! he was just chasing a rumor about a ghost in the mountains when this snowstorm decided to hit him and keep him from going forward. now he was certain that he was about to be cursed or even haunted if he didn't get somewhere warm and safe. that's when the moaning stopped, stopped sounding like the moans of a woman and the cries of what he could only guess is a pokemon.

suddenly a shadow appeared in his vision, one almost as tall as him and approaching fast. shinra spent no time waiting for it to try and get closer to him as he whipped out a pokeball and threw it into the shadow.

the dance came to a stop as petra mentioned that there was indeed a someone but that was as far as that topic was going to go. shinra didn't feel like he should pry anymore than he needed to on such a subject during a party of all things. it was supposed to be a time of merry making! not moping around about crushes, so her taking the offer to get a bite was secretly a relief for him as well.

once they were both at the tables shinra filled himself with the biggest cup of eggnog he could get his hands on as well as nibble on some iced cookies as well. as his face was stuffed he couldn't help but notice the lone chandelure by the doors, the same one that had made him and petra swap lips with one another. "so..." he said after a hard swallow of food and drink, "does your pokemon play match maker a lot? or is it because it just likes getting into the spirit of things?"

having a bird pokemon that was large enough to carry people was an arceus-send as shinra flew on his corviknight's back towards lavaridge town. as the two touched ground shinra was quickly going through his phone and checking the lovedisc date app on his phone. flipping through his messages he stared at the one that accepted an invite for a fun little get together, a nice date at some hot springs. how could that not be romantic?

of course he was a little unsure about it all, he was only doing this at some peer pressure from his co workers to try and get out more. he had been a busy man lately! he would have gone and have some fun on his own if he had the time. well now he could use this as an excuse to actually get out and relax some. after all stuff is always better with some company. "let's just hope they enjoy hot springs. don't see why not with all the cold going around. right morirarty?" the corviknight just tilted his head at his trainer's words, shinra knew he probably didn't quite understand so he just petted the bird's beak as they waited outside the entrance to the springs.

dante looked proud. also warm. what shinra wouldn't do for his own coat of fur to just keep himself warm throughout this season. perhaps he could build a fire on the beach and try to keep himself warm with a nice little camp fire to sit around. his dreams of a warm setting was interrupted by the arrival of a giant ass whale pokemon. "why is it on the beach?!" these kind of pokemon don't just beach themselves, and it could literally roll back into the water!

before his question received an answer it was dealt with by jet who caught it for himself. well...it was probably a useful pokemon if it didn't hit any icebergs. boy just the thought of icebergs was enough to freeze his blood and the man wrapped himself with his arms to keep himself warm. "so, fella, why the heck are you out at the beach during the winter? your dog wanted to go for a run? cause i can probably think of warmer places for that."

that's when he felt something tug at his leg, a cubchoo who looked lost. "ah...damn...what brings you out here little guy? here for a run as well? or..." the little bear just nodded its head and hugged his leg and nuzzled it. did...did it think shinra was his momma or something? he couldn't tell. "uh...then stick with us little buddy." with that he took out a pokeball and dropped it on the cub's head to capture it.
