hunting birds sounded easy enough when he had a capable team on his side. dante might have been a bit bigger than your everyday litten but he still had some of the same instincts, one of those being hunting small creatures. of course a delibird was going to be much bigger than something like a torchic and probably colder. ice types were cold-blooded right? probably right. with his big feline and black bird in tow with him he was sure they would find it as well as the other person handling this job in no time.

tracking it was easy with eyes in the sky and nose to the ground, both pokemon were going to make this a cinch. however it was shinra that managed to pick u a trail when he noticed footprints in the snow that belonged to a person and not a pokemon. as they followed the trail in the distance the image of a guy with a delibird came into view. that was easy enough.

"yo!" shinra shouted out as he started to jog up to them with his two pokemon in tow. "guess you beat us to the punch huh? looks like this guy's trying to handle too much. ain't there like...a union for them or something?" shinra chuckled only to be met with angry cries from the delibird as it walked up to him with a glare on its face.

"whoa whoa easy, didn't mean no harm. just saying ya should have a partner or something. like me and him." he gestured a finger between him and orion to signify that they were technically working together on this one. "so where is this guy supposed to be heading anyway?"

hearing the cries of the delibird was a little heartbreaking to say the least. the poor guy was just trying to do his job and now it was next to impossible to do it alone. as orion mentioned some rope and a sleigh shinra knew someone that might help them out with such an idea. releasing from his pokeball shinra let dervish get some fresh cold air as he shook off some sleepiness and looked between everyone in the group when his eyes stopped trying to close on their own. "we can probably tie what's let of the sack to him with the rope and he can pull it. rest of us can carry some of the gifts that don't fit. ya can hold a few can't ya dante?"

the incineroar let out a gruff of agreement and showed off his muscles, using bulk up on his own to increase his own strength as he effortlessly gathered a few of the gifts and piled them into a comically large tower that he somehow managed to balance on his own. shinra turned his gaze to the corvisquire that had been sitting pretty quiet behind the group, "moriarty, keep watch on the skies and let us know if we're getting closer to the next town yeah?" the bird simply nodded and took off into the sky while shinra gathered the torn sack and tried to bag what he could inside the remains and tie it together with the rope and tie the other end to dervish.

"that outta hold. whaddya think delibird? you can ride on derv if ya like. rest those wings a little!"

he honestly wouldn't know what its like to be wanted. at least not in the way she was implying. he knew that other people wanted him for many reasons; his talent, his strength, his body, he himself never returned those feelings to anyone no matter how shallow they were. all he ever did want was his name up in people's memories which...thinking about it now was probably the same thing? it was hard to tell.

"yeah i suppose it is. you got someone ya feel like you really want then? i can't exactly be your first can't i miss council lady." it wasn't like she made the choice to kiss him without a gun to her head, well mistletoe to her head. "i figure you got a lot of people that want ya. you are the looker. not a bad kisser either. guess your little buddy sure knows their stuff don't they? you usually let them play match maker?" his eyebrow was raised and his face reeked of a teasing expression as they continued to move to the beats of the song.

he wouldn't lie about not enjoying himself since coming here, he wasn't exactly sure what he would even do at a party like this at first but just standing here and dancing with a stranger was tickling his brain to remind him to put himself out there more. too much of his time was focused on his work, and his line of work could always benefit from his name spreading around. who knows, maybe next party he can actually bring a date or someone if he's ever invited again. "now i don't know about you but i am feeling a bit peckish. how's 'bout we grab a bite to eat, unless people already finished the desserts!"

there was something about arcanine fur that was just so warm, besides the fact that it was a fire type mind you. the more he petted the arcanine the warmer he could feel his body become. almost as if it was warming his soul just by doing this simple action. perhaps he should get one for himself? the only furry companion he had would rather suplex than hug shinra, in a loving manner to be fair.

however the moment couldn't last forever as two pokemon appeared to ruin his enjoyment of warm fluffy fur. the other trainer was quick to dispatch the weird reptile with a small little bug leaving the jynx to shinra. "y'know...i was really having a moment here. and you're ruining it." returning lurantis to its ball he let out a pokemon that was perfect for enacting out his rage; incineroar.

"dante. show this thing who we deal with a--holes." the cat looked confused but nodded at the order as he turned and charged at the jynx while engulfing himself in flames for a flare blitz. it was enough to knock the ice and psychic type off their feet and leave them with in a bit of a dizzy state leaving them open for a darkest lariat. as it flopped around the snowy beach shinra whipped out a ball and threw it at the pokemon, catching it as it tried to stand on its own two legs.

he could feel the weight of his opponent be lifted off the ground and was ready to slam him onto the mat with all of his strength. he wasn't ready to feel his shoulders be gripped and suddenly his balance shifted and now the two fell into the ropes. shinra knew that if he wasn't quick he was going to end up out of the ring, so he had to let go of Caius and hook his arm around the middle rope to stop himself from falling out of the ring.

as he landed on his butt he quickly rolled around and got to his feet and faced Caius, a glare coming from his eyes but a smile coming from his face. this guy was good, but Shinra was better. he hunkered himself down and waited for the blonde wrestler to get back onto his feet before making his next move. if he got back to his feet then Shinra would rush in and aim a powerful drop kick at his face if possible. Perhaps if he aimed it right then he might actually push Caius out of the ring instead of both of them going out.

watching the flying ice type delibird that he came across recently flap around the air was somewhat entertaining. after helping one out during a job he was kind of taking a liking to the species. he doubt that the guy would see a whole lot of use however, he didn't seem to be the battling type and wasn't meshing well with the team. maybe he could find it a good home?

as he watched it flap its wings shinra began to feel a bit drowsy, his eyes constantly closing as he leaned against a tree, not noticing the moving branches as something was staring him down from above. then it struck, a monkey with a flaming head jumped onto shinra, waking him up with a start as it reached down to his pockets. "hey! get off!" he screamed, alerting his delibird who came swooping down at the sight of its trainer in trouble! well that was the plan...until a kick from the monkey pokemon sent it flying in the opposite direction.

"don't be so handsy!" the urge to fight was a strong one, so strong that it overrode shinra's common sense as he took notice of the tail lightly slapping him in the face and grabbed it with his teeth. the infernape did not appreciate having its tail bitten by a human! however shinra didn't care what it thought as he managed to get his arms around the pokemon and suplex it into the snowy ground, extinguishing its flame as it laid in the dirt in a daze.

"that's what you get! but...i like yer style..." shinra muttered under his breath as his delibird returned looking upset at how it was treated and kicked the unconscious monkey in its bum. as for shinra, he took out a pokeball and gently lobbed it onto the monkey, watching it disappear inside.

this time lurantis was deciding to take a stroll through the route with its trainer. the cold breeze making it shiver as it rubbed its blades together for warmth. "don't start a fire now." joked shinra who received a glare from the grass type, all he did in return was grin back at it. there was something rather soothing about taking a quiet stroll, the lights on the streetlamps. the cool air. the snowball coming right at his face-wait what?

his face suddenly was covered in snow as the sound of laughter pierced the silence. lurantis was the first to spot the culprit, a purplish pokemon who was rolling and padding snow into another ball and throw it in their direction, hitting shinra square in the chest. "oh a wise guy eh? well two can play at that!" he ran a few feet with his hand digging into the ground and rolling up his own snowball and threw it straight at the tyrogue's head. instead of purple the pokemon's skin changed to red as now it was ON.

lurantis just sighed and shook her head as she watched her trainer and this random stray pokemon get into a snowball fight of all things. not wanting to waste time with this she made her way to the tyrogue's side silently and without notice, raised her blades up, and delivered a swift x-scissors to its head, knocking it out cold and giving her trainer a most intensive glare. shinra could only rub the back of his head and raise a hand in defense at the display of ferocity he witnessed. "Ok ok we're going...sheesh way to be a buzzkill."

"him? he looks like an easy guy to impress." the announcement was probably the biggest surrpise out of this entire ball. not the dancing, not even the giant lion disco ball, it was one of the council just offering money to smooch someone. shinra didn't know the league dipped into that sort of business. that was usually rocket territory.

"perhaps i might give it a try, hard to...uh..." the sight of mistletoe above them cut his sentence off for him as his eyes moved between it and Petra. he...he wasn't really expecting to actually kiss someone tonight. even after the fact that a wailord load of money was probably on the line for one. he also felt bad for the lady who visibly seemed just as embarrassed as he did but decided to go for it.

there was a beat before shinra closed his eyes and met her lips with his and stopped the dancing on his feet to let the dancing continue elsewhere on their bodies. what lasted for a few seconds felt like minutes until he pulled away and met her eyes with his. his face suddenly turned into a grin, "so, think i got a shot at winning that money?"

he then gave her some space and shooed the chandelure away with a wave of his hand. no need for it to just float there and watch the little vouryerist before placing a hand on petra's shoulder to give her some sense of comfort. "y'know it does suck you can't join in on the fun. you'd have a pretty good shot at winning your buddy's game."

"c'mon its cute. it goes well with your...pincers?" shinra had to commend his lurantis for wanting to go out for the day but knew that the cold would be murder on it sensitive skin. so he decided to give it some warm clothing and dress her up with a scarf and hat. all that alone seemed to be enough for it but he couldn't help but want to make the grass type appear cuter. so he decided to decorate lurantis' hat with a small festive pin of a sawsbuck and the two were off on a walk on the beach.

as they did shinra was itching to go and turn his walk into a jog but knew that the grass type following him would probably hate running in the snow. he couldn't blame her, with so much of it falling it was hard to really move. plus with it being so cold his bones were feeling sort of stiff, he could really have dressed up in warmer clothing but that was the past. the now was the arcanine he saw in the distance and recognized that arcanine were fire types and could warm him up if he could just cuddle the damn thing.

"hey!" he called out to the trainer and dog pokemon, going into a jog after all as he raced up to the pair, lurantis right behind him struggling to trudge through the snow after calling out to him. "hey! arcanine. warmth. pet. may i?" shinra said as he reached them and said each word through panted breaths. at least the sprint warmed his blood even if just by a little bit.

"i know just as much as you buddy, all i was asked to find nd help this delibird. was sort of expecting poachers to find him before us." it just meant that the mission was going to be easy! or hard, if they did run into poachers or something on their way. "we do gotta help the poor bastard get to the nearest town anyway so its probably good no one else found him."

the bird gave an angry squawk as it pulled on its sack one more time as it jumped up to the scizor and used its weight to pull on the bag, only for it to suddenly make a ripping sound. "Hey do you hear-?"

riiiiiiiip

the bag burst open and presents spilled all over the snow as the delibird landed on its feathery butt once more. as a present landed on its lap a look of horror spread across its face in a second and loud wailing squawks escaped its mouth. "well...THAT happened. don't suppose you have a spare bag?" he posed the question to orion as he picked up one of the presents in his hands and turned it over while checking for damage, "cause i wasn't ready to play santa claus. hey...is it...is it gonna cry-" sure enough the delibird then started to slow down its wailing as its squawks started to sound pathetic and it began to sniffle and tear up in the eye.

dervish stared down the snowman that was left behind on the route by some kids. there was something about the way it was staring at the nidorino that rubbed the poison type the wrong way. "its not going to do anything. its a snowman." shinra just stood there with his arms crossed waiting for his pokemon to finish...whatever it was doing.

just as it looked like dervish decided it was not worth its time the nidorino turned its back to the snowman...and delivered a powerful double kick to its midsection, kicking the snowball holding it up out of its body and causing the whole thing to collapse. "nice. you really showed it what for derv." the sarcasm was probably the warmest thing around them as snow continued to fall, well that and the inside of a pokeball probably as shinra returned his little troublemaker back into his ball.

his hand was placed gently on her back as he lifted his hand and guided her along in a waltz along the floor. his movements a bit stiff due to his large frame he was still able to not step on her toes. however the giant and incoming ~~legendary~~ solgaleo brought by Balder Schwartz might have as they moved into its path. upon seeing it shinra was amazed and both scared that they'd be trampled by the thing if he didn't suddenly grab petra by the waist and lift her up into a twirl away from the beast as it moved pass them.

holding her still he decided to incorporate this little incident into showing off and carefully dipped her, the lights coming off the giant lion making his face glow and his scar light up, "that was a close call wasn't it? some people just don't know subtlety don't they? you ok?" that last question was brought when he lifted her back onto her feet standing up and gave her a warm smile. "believe it or not that's not the first time a pokemon has nearly messed me up. oricoco's will try to step on your feet y'know."
