as if on cue when he mentioned it the music started up and a pair of pokemon were the first ones to really draw the party's attention as they moved about in sync on the floor. just watching them was starting to agitate the jitterbug inside of shinra as he eyed the crowd to see if he could find someone willing to cut the rug with him. well he didn't need to look hard when the stomp of a foot and the cry of @noblesse rang out.

"well now how could anyone refuse to dance with someone lovely like ya mrs. claus?" was the question he popped as he approached her with a hand outstretched and offering to her. maybe it was the wine but he could have sworn she was probably familiar in some sort. well she was mrs claus but still. "just hope mr. claus ain't the jealous type is all. cause i don't know how that jolly fellow can really be light on his feet."

no booze? well that was a shame, although wine and champagne were pretty good substitutes anyway. at least he probably won't be doing anything while too drunk. still... "ah where's the fun in that though? wouldn't be fun to see people let loose? hell maybe people will actually start doing some dancing instead of just sitting around."

that's when the light on the candlestick lit up in his head as he reached down and took a glass of red wine and took a sip while eyeing lenora herself. "say...why don't we break the ice a bit huh? care to join me for a dance beautiful?" he gave her a wink as he leaned against the table sipping another bit of wine and taking a small cookie and taking a bite out of it. even if this party was supposed to be classy the fact that everyone was just kind of chilling was a little...well a bit boorish.

hunting birds sounded easy enough when he had a capable team on his side. dante might have been a bit bigger than your everyday litten but he still had some of the same instincts, one of those being hunting small creatures. of course a delibird was going to be much bigger than something like a torchic and probably colder. ice types were cold-blooded right? probably right. with his big feline and black bird in tow with him he was sure they would find it as well as the other person handling this job in no time.

tracking it was easy with eyes in the sky and nose to the ground, both pokemon were going to make this a cinch. however it was shinra that managed to pick u a trail when he noticed footprints in the snow that belonged to a person and not a pokemon. as they followed the trail in the distance the image of a guy with a delibird came into view. that was easy enough.

"yo!" shinra shouted out as he started to jog up to them with his two pokemon in tow. "guess you beat us to the punch huh? looks like this guy's trying to handle too much. ain't there like...a union for them or something?" shinra chuckled only to be met with angry cries from the delibird as it walked up to him with a glare on its face.

"whoa whoa easy, didn't mean no harm. just saying ya should have a partner or something. like me and him." he gestured a finger between him and orion to signify that they were technically working together on this one. "so where is this guy supposed to be heading anyway?"

"you kidding it was easy! swept the floor with the gym no problem, i mean how else do ya explain this?" shinra held up the badge that he had won last month for the few folks he was chatting with to see. his arm flexed as he held it up in a triumphant pose showing off his muscles and earning a starry eyed gaze from someone before it suddenly broke into laughter and giggles. at first he was confused, perhaps they were finally noticed how silly his favorite sweater was before he noticed santa claus of all people walk by.

it was enough to make him do a double take

not because it was santa but because of who was underneath the suit. he'd seen news articles and pictures of fernando before but never met the guy in person, and well seeing him up close for the first time in a costume of all things was something that caused him to join the group in their laughter and giggles. he wouldn't fault the guy for dressing up but being santa had to be the result of him losing a bet or something. "well i'll see ya folks later, perhaps join ya for a dance after some snacks? or sit on santa's lap and ask for a gift."

with that he decided to make his way towards the free dessert table to fill up his stomach. watching the people who had come and gathered here he wondered if he should join in more on the festivities. dancing seemed like fun but he wasn't really well versed in dancing, sure he could move his body to the groove but it wasn't like he was about to waltz all over the floor. maybe provocatively move his hips but that was usually saved for other people. as he got to the table and grabbed a cookie he wondered if he could actually pull it off if he had some "courage", "does anyone know if there's some good booze at this party?"

the gardevoir sure was a tough fella, dante the incineroar could see that if he could brush off its flamethrower like that. still it didn't look like it made it out of that without some bad scratches. the feline pokemon couldn't wait, he saw this foe as someone who was tough and wanted to enjoy seeing how much more they could handle.

"alright. bulk up one more time and hit him where it hurts! give 'em a signature lariat dante!" shinra commanded and his incineroar followed as he flexed his muscles once more, this time making them look bigger than before before his body started to give off a faint glow that grew brighter as the light concentrated into his paws and he started spinning in place to turn himself into some kind of red twister.

that twister started approaching the gardevoir, as it did the sound of growling could be heard as dante was in full force now that he was pumped up. he was looking to finish this fight with its spinning lariat.

he couldn't believe that worked, usually dante overshoots a flare blitz when he does it like that. the bravado before was all so that he could use confidence to unnerve them. so them landing the first hit with it was such a good sign to him. even the sight of it seeming to use a move to recover from its injuries didn't even kill his joy. "go ahead and fix yourself up as much as ya like, we're just gonna hit harder than before." now if dante can back up his words victory was sure for them, and he had all the confidence that his partner could do it.

"give them that flamethrower slammer!" the incineroar gave a toothy grin at the sound of his trainer's words and charged forward once again. he squatted and jumped into the air again, this time his body splayed spread eagle like he was going in for a slam. his body also gave off another sign, his navel starting to glow as a powerful stream of fire suddenly shot out as he descended. as he did reach the ground he would position himself so that the cat would land on his hands and knees as the ground under him would be signed with fire.

for a moment it looked like dante had hit the psychic type pokemon as his fist went through its body. wait a minute. the realization came too late as the image of the pokemon suddenly vanished from view and the incineroar was left dumbfounded at what just happened. he was sure that he hit it!

it suddenly appearing in the corner of his peripheral however said otherwise as it just stood there unharmed. "slippery one ain'tcha?" shinra called out as he watched the gardevoir suddenly summon a wall of water to protect itself. "well pretty sure that's cheating miss gym leader. can't say i'm mad though." it wouldn't be a challenge after all if it was too simple. if there was a wall then they would just break through, but something out of water was a bit of a problem, so the only option was to go around it.

"dante! show them how much of a high flyer ya can be!" the feline looked back at his trainer and gave him a thumbs up as he faced his opponent again and charged forward toward the water wall. as he was just a few steps from running he suddenly jumped into the air with arms crossed and maneuvered himself over the wall and falling down straight toward the gardevior ready to cross chop its chest.

"whoa whoa whoa easy. didn't mean ta startle ya." his hands shot up to his chest as he gestured her to calm down just a bit with his pikachu doing the same motion, "besides I didn't think i'd meet anyone else out here either. there's better places to sleep than here-"

his sentence was cut off by the audible footsteps that was coming their way and soon the hulking creature that was a walking barnacle appeared blocking their path. "that's a big boy! Madden ge-" shadowy hands suddenly clasped around shinra's mouth and started to pull him backwards as the laughter of a haunter suddenly came through the halls. he couldn't believe that they were getting jumped by two pokemon today, he would catch them to teach them a lesson if he could reach even one pokeball as he was being dragged off. thank areceus for him madden had seen through what was going on and delivered a powerful shock to the space behind his trainer.

the hands disappeared and the shrieks of a pokemon could be heard but shinra wasn't planning on sticking around for long. he started sprinting towards the direction the giant barnacle pokemon came from and grabbed the girl's arm as her pokeball was finishing up rocking back and forth. "C'mon! Don't wanna hang here for long!"
