“Yea, we’re gotta meet up soon and talk in person, I’ve got a lot to dump on you.”

A message shared with Stormy in a hushed tone, the man leaning in before turning to face Fernando, the man’s message making his blood run cold for one reason and one reason only, Najwa.

He didn’t even have to look at the woman to to know how she felt in this exact moment. It was already one thing to make himself known as he had, especially with her by his side, but then to have Fernando further egg on the situation with the promise of money,this situation was bound to turn into a different beast after the night had ended. He gave a glance around at the ballroom, his hopes of people not taking the announcement seriously seeming more feasible than not, despite the few eyes that had met his own.

It would take him a moment to return to earth, his mind a mess for a few seconds until Najwa had presented herself, a drink in hand.

“Oh, thank you, Na.”

He said as he took the glass, downing it quickly and looking to the other than had presented herself during this mess, recalling her words hazily.

“Oh, like Stormy said, the order was a joke, dear, don‘t worry your sweet little heart over it. But, since you worked up the nerve to present yourself, I’d be delighted to have this dance with you.” Calm words spoken to the seemingly innocent youth.

“Na, Storms, Kay, other guy who’s laughing way too hard, get to know each other a bit better, hm?”

His last words shared with the group before dragging the girl on to the dance floor, leading their movements to the flow of the music, each step calm, slow, and taken with grace..

“Your hands are a bit damp aren’t they.” A statement spoken in the cadence of a question.

“What’s your favorite berry?”

Kim asked offhandedly, dashing a sprinkle of salt into the pan, its contents sizzling quite heartily.

This evening was to be one that made up for the one the two shared in their former titles, one whose ending was less than spectacular to witness, let alone be apart of. But this time would be different, Kim, more confident than before, ready to handle any situation as it presented itself.

Their dinner tonight would be breakfast, a full selection of dishes prepared that would suit either of their taste handedly.

For a moment he would stand surprised by her sudden display of affection, not exactly knowing what the think, until he spotted the “mistletoe” overhead.

“Ah.”

He worded audibly before making a face comparable to saying, “that's it?” without actively saying it.

“That wasn’t a very good kiss.”

He states outright before pulling her in- their bodies meshing into a perfect snowstorm- the councilman planting one good hollywood kiss on the woman's lips before pushing her away and wiping his lips with a thumb.

“Grab one for me, please.”

He said kindly as he rushed over to a long time friend, Stormy, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

“STORMS, just the woman I wanted to see.”

He expressed at a normal volume before lowering his voice to a whisper.

“Is my face red? I feel like my face is red, let’s go over there, I don't want anyone to see me like this.”

Quickly he grabbed hold of Stormy’s hand, dragging her towards Cait and hers in an attempt to blend in.

This suit was a bit cumbersome to wear, the form fitting apparel, though perfect in its sizes, still unnatural for the man to be presented in. Though it beat the other selection he had planned to sport by a mile, especially considering it would match more with Silph than it would Najwa.

“Thank you.”

He said in a sweet tone, patting the tie down softly, flicking the blazers lapel as he grabbed hold of her arm, intertwining it within his own.

“We shall.”

He responded, opening the door and allowing for her entrance before his own.

Once the two had properly entered the ballroom, Kim took a second for Najwa to collect herself before he raised both hands into the air, one interlocked with Najwa’s own.

“Hello party people! Your favorite councilman has arrived!”

An outcry from the man, booming over the background music, his presence calling attention.

“I demand a dance from every one of you before the night ends, that’s an order! Even you Ferny!”

He points to his santa-clad comrade, singling him out specifically.

“For now, eat drink and be merry! I will get to all of you in due time!”

His attention would shift to Najwa once he concluded his announcement, a cheerful smile stuck to his face as he did.

“Drinks sound good.”

A conformation to her previously proposed suggestion.

What calm he held within was swiftly thrown to the wayside, his mind thrown into a tizzy within seconds, the sudden grabbing of his hand leading to her using it to aid in her own slumber. It was all too much, and all so… strange.

Of course the only thing that he could chalk this behavior up to is the womans tiredness, but that did nothing to assist the way he was currently feeling.

Bothered, at ease, flushed, flustered, happy? There were just too many emotions that had swirled within to pinpoint what exactly it was that he was feeling. It was confusing, yet comfortable… too much for a single man to withstand.

His eyes closed for a moment, time spent collecting his thoughts in silence. He took a breath, settling down enough to look over, his eyes settling on her face for only seconds, but what felt like hours.

Even with the appearance she currently had, hair a mess, eyes sunken, and a slight dribble of drool dripping from her mouth, he could see her as no less than perfect. He didn’t know how to process what emotion it was he was experiencing exactly, but he didn’t want to stop feeling it.

A free hand moved towards her, adjusting loose stands of hair away from her face to get a better view, carefully caressing her features as to not awake the sleeping beauty he lay beside.

“Why do you make me feel like this…?”

He whispered under his breath, pulling his hand in as he slowly drifted off.

“Huh?”

The only sound he could utter in the moment, the sudden pull forward as she led him to his own room foreign yet welcoming.

Kim has had countless sleepovers with friends before, Francie and Stormy to name a couple, but Najwa was different. The level of comfort he had formed with the other two was not the same as with Najwa. Yet here and now, they would be set inches apart from one another, sleeping in the same space. It was almost enough to make him perspire. But he held firm, thoughts less gentlemanly fluttering away once he cleared his mind.

He’d take a deep breath, removing any excess clothing before climbing into the bed, a dreamy sigh escaping as he finally laid himself down, the stress held within his body releasing all at once.

There was only calm to be felt in this moment.

Knees begin to bend but quickly stiffen up, regaining their stiffness within seconds of the interaction, tanned cheeks growing a shade redder; the man attempting to keep his bravado stalwart.

The way she expressed her appreciation was something he had not expected, a simple, “okay” or “whatever” substituting just fine in place of the kiss she had bestowed upon his cheek. Though it was not unwelcome; Kim’s lips settling into a smile easily and a pep added to his step, the rhythm adjusting to the mood.

“I’m happy you heard me out.” He said softly. “Try not to overdo it too much, okay? We can’t have league’s head scientist too exhausted to do her job.”

Upon their arrival to the complex, Kim hoisted her up a bit higher, making sure to keep her at an appropriate height as they made their way into the building quickly, an awkward nod given to the clerk as he continued to the elevator- Steps were hastened as he eventually made his way to his door- entering the abode as fast as possible, lowering Najwa to floor level delicately.

“The door down the hallway and to the left my the bathoom, opposite of that is my room. Watch out for a Skitty, she likes to sleep under the covers when I’m not here.”

He would begin detaching items from himself, setting them onto a countertop in the kitchen area, continuing to speak as he did.

“I’ll be in the living room if you need anything. Don’t be afraid to call for me.”

Offhanded words given as he continued to empty his pockets.

Spittle does little to interrupt his train of thought- what little could have become apart of his hair that is- a look of sternness forming on his features.

“You shouldn’t be overworking yourself like this. Your research might mean a lot to you but your health is more important than anything.”

His tone is more like that of a parental figure than friendly, scorning her behavior rather than praising her dedication.

“I know we haven’t really had the opportunity to speak much to each other in a while but the sight you showed me today shouldn’t be the first to greet me.”

“You worried me.”

He whispered under his breath.

The night air greeted them kindly, a slight breeze wafting the sea air into their senses. Kim took soft steps, his pace steady and calm as to not disturb the woman any more than he already had.

It was quiet, no cars, no music, not even the ambience of city pokemon to keep them company. It was just them, the stepping of Kim’s feet, and the rhythmic beating of their hearts, the calm enjoyed in silence before Kim spoke up.

“Naj… you conscious enough to hear me?”

A question asked in a soft tone, almost as quiet as the night itself.

He struggles for a moment- her sudden moving nearly throwing him off balance- but he manages, unintentionally gripping his fingers into her thighs as she shifts about randomly, a somewhat annoyed expression plastered onto his face as his eyes looked upward, careful not to move his own head and disrupt her too much.

“I have an apartment nearby, I’m gonna take you there so you can get a good nights rest.”

The statement was straightforward, lavender strands flowing over his own face- unable to adjust them in the predicament he found himself in.

“Don’t worry. I won’t leave you on the floor.”
