“Well, I am not in the habit of risking my life for anything less than the cataclysmic ones,” she replied with a bit of a smirk. Still, it was good to see the other in higher spirits. Especially now that they were working together for a bit once more. Hence she had her Frosmoth apply another Tailwind while her Mawile needed to recharge for the time being. It just made sense in her head to always be supportive like this when she had the time and leisure to do so.

Though that was only part of the puzzle. There was always the human element as well – which was at its most vulnerable now as the cracks started to show. A girl – one she did not know, but everyone else seemed to – cried out as her Charizard had its flame all but extinguished by eternal ice. That was probably a death sentence of sorts, unless someone had found a counter measure yet.
Vio would not rule that out, but she was ready to accept loss herself here. Why? Because this was necessary. That was why she was trying to join Spectra, after all. Losses while fighting were necessary to ensure they weren’t all lost.

But only the losses that were truly necessary. While she watched that wailing with a certain amount of dispassionate analysis, when the pinkette tried to do something stupid, Vio could not quite hold herself back. Vio would at least attempt to throw herself at DESIREE BLOOMS in an attempt to keep her from getting too close to the ice. “Don’t touch that. Getting yourself frozen too is not going to help anyone!” Once more, she felt like she had to do something to help this one get a grip. It probably went for that Yuina, too, but Vio really did not want anyone to be too close to that ice. It all but radiated cold. Trying to push Des away from it was much more important.[break][break]
That being said, her Frosmoth was also hit by whatever it was that was overwhelming Pokemon left and right. But Vio didn’t allow that to get to her right then. It felt like she needed to share some strength, not give in to weakness right then. Hence, she only allowed herself to become a bit emotional, but remain stoic at least to some extent. In her eyes, that was still the quality she needed. “You are right. There has to be some way. But if we want to even get to that point, we need to focus on surviving ourselves and beating that thing back. Once that is done, we are sure to find an answer somehow. But for now we have to fight on,” she further added, hoping that her Mawile would recharge soon enough to fire again, before it too would succumb to the cold.

Oh, there was someone she knew at least. Her Tailwind had supported a few people around her position, though so far, they had mostly ignored her. So did Miss Pink, but that was okay. Violet was not exactly easy to spot. Wearing white in a blizzard, with most of her features being similarly pale, she was kind of camouflaged anyway.

Which was not helped by using a white-as-snow Pokemon, to boot. But given what she could see that group of people doing, that was probably about to change anyway. They were firing what they could from a position that seemed reasonably safe. No Tailwind needed to support that.

Instead, Violet recalled her Frosmoth. With those people around, she could likely do the other thing she wanted to do, anyway. Hence, she brought out her Mawile instead, before closing the distance between them. “Hey there,” she mostly notified the pinkette she knew from the mechanical kingdom, whom she very much hoped would not have any breakdowns today.

But instead of conversing further, she took up position so that she could use that force of people as a shield if need be and activated the bracelet under her layers of protection. That dimmed the light somewhat, but the power still reached her Mawile, absorbing light before erupting in it, another Mega Evolution taking place.

Once that was done, Violet pointed at the big threat and gave a simple order “Fire,” to which Mawile obliged, first inhaling deeply, then letting out the Mega-empowered Hyper Beam at their foe. That…probably was a bit flashier than anything she had shown Desiree before, but she was not going to hold back anything. Not against a Mythical deity. And, well, no cave that might collapse on them if hit by an errant beam here, either.

This one, again. First, she had faced it after crash-landing from a meteor. Then, she had been put into an unwinnable simulation against it. And here she was, seeing that thing again. Cold biting into her sides despite the snow gear, Violet struggled to even get closer to the thing without being all but blown away.

Just like last time. And the time before. Only this time, it was real again. Dangerous. But they were not a small team, horribly outmatched. Nor were they a group of exhausted people that had just survived fighting one another in space, then Deoxis up there before all but crashing down.[break][break]
No, this time, everyone seemed to be here. Violet spotted the league and at least one of its avatars. That was fine. Violet was not masked beyond goggles, high collars and a thick hat against the cold. But she wasn’t quite here as one faction or the other, anyway. Rockets that knew her would know her. The League would just see someone fighting alongside them. It was good enough, for the time being.

Not that she had time to concern herself with these sorts of things. No, it was time to do something. And for the time being, she would start as she always did – by first assisting her side as she assessed things up close. Plus, Frosmoth did thrive in this weather, after all. “That thing might come at us with freezing winds, but let’s try and show it that it does not own that domain uncontested. Give them all the best Tailwind you can give them,” she ordered the Frosmoth, hoping to help others navigate through the Blizzard and hopefully dodge the instant-death rays that were all but sure to come.

Well, that would have been expecting too much. Plus, it wasn’t like she knew any more, either. Would have just been nice to not be brute-forcing things.

But then again, that was why she had brought a big, strong male with her, after all. He called out a fairly interesting Pokemon, but all he could think of having it do was breaking down the doors. Not very imaginative, but at least it got the job done. Half-way. Fortunately, they were not in a narrow shaft anymore. Instead, their elevator was part of a smaller, tower-like structure. Well, that was probably putting too much praise on it. A collection of metal beams that was not even enclosed on all sides was more like it.

That was good though. It meant that they could at least see some lights in the distance of this dark, underground cavern, somewhere closer to the ground.

It was also good since the impact of the doors being blown out reverberated through the apparatus. The sparking only intensified with a screeching sound that was not at all pleasant to the ear. But Violet had an idea where that was going, so she was already fishing for the Pokeball before things went completely haywire. “I’d not stick around until it starts moving again. Doesn’t sound like it will be all that proper after all,” she noted before starting for the door, bringing out her Togekiss as she did. Her instincts told her to get off and she would give him a ride, too, before the elevator might try to, well, make up for lost time, in a way.

Ah, good. Someone was doing the actual human-to-human part of the humanitarianism at play here. Truth be told, she had no interest of dealing with panicking people right now. Hence, she was content to have her Jellicent stabilize the boat for the time being.

Well, she was also flying relatively low over the churning waters, just out of reach of trouble but close enough to go and help if really needed. Vio did hope that she would not find anyone though. Not out of callousness, no, but she only had some wilderness rescue training from her ranger-prep days. The whole sea-rescue thing was definitely beyond her capabilities, she feared. This was not the kind of incident where she wanted to learn that on the job, really.

To be frank, she had not actually expected an elevator of all things in this place, but on second thought, that only made sense, did it not? It just was unlike any elevator she knew, mostly based on moving clockwork parts that together managed to work as sufficiently strong levers to do the job. It was kind of impressive. “The Pokemon here must know their stuff if they keep everything in working order like this,” she mused, observing the gears and listening to the music.

Then again, she was never good with flags, now was she? Just moments after saying that, there was a screeching sound and a shock reverberated through her whole body as the elevator suddenly came to a harsh halt.
Well, almost. Looking to one of the corners of the elevator, where large gears had just moved, one for each corner, she noticed one of them starting to send sparks all around it, as if something had gotten stuck or so. Heck, she was not an engineer, she had no real idea what was going on there! “Um, you don’t happen to know a lot about elevator mechanics, now do you?”

Ah, so he was that kind of person. Not really interested in anything but combative results. The kind of person that she ultimately found useful, but also not all too stimulating to be around. After all, there was only so much she could do with this kind of question.

“Not like I fought it. The Pokemon was hospitable and capable of thought and vocalization of human-like level. That alone, to me, says it can be quite dangerous if it wants to be.” At least that was her experience with these kinds of higher-tier Pokemon. Hence, she was not going to agitate the one they might meet here. Especially not when it still seemed to invite them in, if that open door was any indication. [break][break]
“I caution to not attack it at all unless strictly necessary. This is their castle for all intents and purposes. We should not be rude guests unless we can guarantee positive results.” That was how she handled things, after all. Only fight when forced or she was reasonably certain that she would win.

Ah. Good. He didn’t flinch too much. Violet still remembered how her last party had been all but paralyzed at the sight of these remains in the banquet hall. Not that she necessarily begrudged them for that. It was somewhat natural – at least for certain groups of people. But among Rockets, that was something less likely to happen.

As was the case here. Which was good, because she was very much still judging this man that she barely knew. Vio was reasonably certain that she could handle herself on her own – that was why she had accepted to be here with nothing but a semi-stranger at her side – but she preferred to not have to. It was just that simple. Just because one could do something with more limited resources did not mean it was the smart thing to do so.

Especially when it came to places like death such as this one. “Apparently the previous inhabitant of this kingdom, aside from the more ageless Pokemon. Though the mechanical one I told you about was pretty close to this place last time. I wonder if it walked off or if something had happened,” she said, half musing to herself, half informing him of some peculiarities of this place. Naturally, she’d had filed a report after her first foray to this place and he should have been given the info. But it was always good to reiterate to be sure. Lots of grunts barely skimmed, after all.

“Ah, archeology. That must be in surprisingly high demand lately, given how many relics of the past are coming back to haunt us and try to bring the whole region down,” she mused in reply. Ironically enough, that did remind her of @amor and the talks she had had with the man before she knew that he was in Rocket as well. Then again, she had never ever seen that man doing any archaeological work, only reading up on what others had found.

Then again again, she hadn’t seen this man at the bar work much to begin with, either. She did not doubt that he did work though, so she probably extend the same courtesy to the one who had left.

Eh, maybe another day. This day, she just chuckled at the thought before the gift exchange and ensuing antics took everyone’s attention. Fortunately, the toxic goblet of the kiss cam passed her. Not that she would have minded all too much. But it wasn’t what she had come here for. If she just wanted something meaninglessly physical, she had a few numbers she could call up if needed. She didn’t though, which was part of the point.

Instead, she allowed the initial onslaught to the settle before picking up her own gift for the time being and carefully unwrapping it, with one eye following the misadventures of the archaeologist. [break]
And speaking of, she kind of found something applicable. Something that seemed like a map, presumably in a tube. Violet half-unfolded it briefly, but then decided to roll it up again. She could tell delicate, high quality items when she saw them. The staining potential of this place was far too big to actually properly take a look. She’d save that for later.

Instead, she more closely looked at the globe, which looked to all but be an artifact. Vio briefly had a suspicion, but considered the evidence too circumstantial to be useful. Still though, she did try to briefly flag down the man that just got done kissing, howard slayte . “Seems like fate wants me to look into that field too, doesn’t it?” She playfully asked, globe still in hand.

A knock and a call inside. That was as expected, so she simply moved on, carrying herself with purpose but not urgency. Rushing things in an assessment situation was almost never good. She gave the man a nod in lieu of a greeting, but allowed him to get straight to the point. That was something she liked in superiors. In marks, not so much. But that was another matter entirely. If the other was seated and offered one himself, she would accept it, otherwise stand at ease for the time being. Either way, she assumed a neutral pose, one that those knowing about such matters would easily recognize as something learned, not quite natural.

“Of course. I would not have taken part in the trials had I not been convinced of the matter.” After all, ever since she had had to endure Kyurem’s chilling assault, she had come to the conclusion that, for the most part, Hoenn was probably better off without the presence of legendaries. Especially so in the hands of the league. Kyogre going haywire had just furthered that resolve. “That is not to say that I do not care about the science corps, of course.” Especially after her encounter with the Galarian legends she had felt a much deeper connection to the scientific method. But she did know that at the end of the day, those with proper training were more valuable there than she was. Until she had properly caught up on the basics in her free time, she would not be much more than an assistant, anyway.[break][break]
“Yet, the work SPECTRA does is important and I believe that my capabilities and skills might be better utilized there. Of course, while I am confident in myself, I am not so presumptuous to say that it would be the best use of my talents. But that, too, is part of the assessment process, isn’t it?”
