"hexen...zirkel?" priam repeats softly.

it certainly was a new term they just stumbled upon on, unheard of from every circle he knows that exists on hoenn. it wasn't even something that was heard of in the most niche of urban legends.

minus the murmuring that was him burning the name of the organization into memory, he remains composed.

a smirk naturally shows his confidence in his response. "hell yeah, we are."

his eyes meet cillian's. there's a difference in their temperament, and as much as he's certain that the underboss was playing it safe, priam steers the narrative into motion.

this was a simulation. it's alright to take risks.

"we sought the organization out for answers. i ask for entry, if it's possible."

professional phrasing reeks out of priam's uncouth mouth, perhaps forged by exposure to similar mannerisms for the longest time— twenty years to be exact.

the term has been passed around like a buzz word lately. he takes time to recall what other things have been related to it, but before he can get to a conclusion, eyes start appearing out of nowhere.

"are these unown?"

easily distracted, the previous line of thought had been temporarily put on hold as he watches both of them get surrounded. this was it, he thinks. priam isn't sure of what their definition of hiding was, but the threat of ending the scene jolts priam back to reality, or rather, a simulated one.

"oh, remember the nisa holo rvl route?" priam asks cillian as they succumb to a shift in the scenery. "anomalies, like ones that would end universe 820?"

before he could finish the rest of his thought, they move on to the next event.

He has more to say, but his thoughts fuzz along with their surroundings. He blinks rapidly as if it might clear his vision, and suddenly they're somewhere else.[break][break]

His eyes narrow upon the mischievous visage of Father Winter.[break][break]

"How many times do we have to kill you?"[break][break]

There's a bite of exasperation in his tone, perhaps suggesting to Priam that the underboss has been in this particular scenario before. He almost goes for Winter's throat a second time, before remembering how unsatisfying it had felt.[break][break]

With a huff, he concedes, "Fine. Tails."

he stops with cillian's reaction. bloodlust was expected from the underboss, but surprisingly, so was restraint. the thing that priam questions the most, however, was his reaction.

"since the drk triad wanted to kill 'anomalies' like avatars and such, while the hexenzirkel are trying to get those anomalies safe, would that mean they're on opposite sides?"

priam continues to babble on as cillian takes the bet for them.

"then again, the father winter on that rvl game did seem to want to protect us too. is he part of the hexenzirkel too instead of the drk triad? those are a thing, right? like the flip-floppy agents. i heard from one of the reports that there was one."

priam's musing was just that, background noise that fills in the scene while the actual choice was made in the foreground. as much as he can make stories out of works of fiction from the games they've played, it was ultimately just fiction at the end of the day, regardless of accuracy.

Suddenly, you think see a hovering UNOWN in the corner of your vision but before you can confirm its presence, it disappears. Turning back to the man, you notice that he too, has vanished... into a rift.

These words are directed at Father Winter, but the man vanished into a Rift.[break][break]

Though he steps forward as if to follow, Cillian glances back at Priam and pauses to give answer. Priam may be babbling, but Cillian listens to every word. It was no wonder he spent his time among scientists; he was smarter than many in the organization might give him credit for.[break][break]

"Maldacena. Their turncoat."[break][break]

Yet for all the double-agent had claimed to help them, he'd toyed with their lives. If not for the Unown, would they have ever made it out of the Cloud at all? Cillian had his doubts.[break][break]

"Winter tried to kill me, so I think he's on their side... but there were two of them in the game, remember? I wonder if there's really two, or if that was some weird otome kink shit. You wouldn't believe the routes I stumbled on." Which confirmed to Priam, if he'd been curious at all, that even Rocket's stoic underboss had been sucked into experimenting with the app. He shakes his head. "Anyway, maybe if there's two of them, they're on different sides. That white-haired woman was at the Tearoom, her Pokémon- shit!"[break][break]

The Rift has started to close, and Cillian urges Priam toward it before jumping through himself.[break][break]

there would be more had it not been for juicy backstory time with cillian. he stops all train of thought to digest the revelation given to him, but it's the least important part that he clings on.

"i expected for you to at least play the co-op ones, but not the other ones! wow."

before he knew it, a rift opens up. all previous musings have been lost to a new set of questions that he wants to ask the underboss. oversharing meant he was given a pass to continue the subject, or so his logic goes.

"hey, did you play my route too? did that got you hot and flustered? i bet it did!"

he continues to spout nonsense until he has to go through the rift.

Cillian chuckles as the conversation catches on his use of the otome app. He was neither a gamer nor someone known as a romantic.[break][break]

"Data mining the routes of our fellow Rockets, mostly," is confessed with a shrug. "Got the bad ending in most of them. I've heard my route is pretty deadly, so maybe they're biased against us."[break][break]

It doesn't shock him that Priam also has a route. It seemed most had, but, "I never encountered yours, no. Was it one of those R-rated ones they locked behind paywalls?"[break][break]

Once they're through the rift, the duo are confronted with another.[break][break]

"Can we choose none of the above?" Cillian's tone is scathing, for he held no fondness for either dragon. Zekrom had been a friend to Rocket, once, but only so long as Remiel Calcifet. Yet the simulation seems to expect a response. "Ideals, then."[break][break]

It didn't seem very criminal to care about the truth, and all.[break][break]

he looks at cillian as he makes the decision.

"i thought you'd go for the truth here," priam chimes. "just because it's a good excuse to, y'know, try to take down zekrom."

he'd side with the truth for a different reason, though his comment was more related to quizzing himself with what he knows of the underboss' temperance than his own preference.

priam releases his braviary, ready to take sides and follow up any of cillian's attempts to take down whichever dragon he decides to be the target of his attack.

"well, if ya don't wanna pick between the two values, then wouldn't it be better to rephrase the question? it's just a simulation, but we can think of it like a part two of the spectra trials! like, which of them do you think is a better target practice?"

zekrom or reshiram? priam was basically asking which of them would be better to test their matchup against.
