Once the previous Bug-type had been captured, there was a familiar flash that had rocketed toward them on a burst of Agility—he was pretty sure he left Tristan in the PC, how was he able to—wait, it wasn’t Tristan, but a Pokémon that looked so very similar to him.

Even Ro looked baffled for all of five seconds before grating in Lars’s direction.

“No, it’s not Tristan, don’t worry. You can go berserk on this one,” he says, waving his hand and watching as this Accelgor suddenly throw up a landmine of Spikes—whoa, what the hell?

Maybe I’ll keep this one, has some moves Tristan doesn’t… he thought, watching as Ro was unperturbed by the appearance of the entry hazard. With a cunning little application of Telekinesis, the Spikes were cleared away—which had Lars breathe out in relief.

“Thanks,” he mutters in the Metgross’s direction, before it suddenly blasts out a Psychic blob of energy at the Accelgor. Wanting to finish this quickly, another Telekinesis draws the Bug-type closer, and a resounding Meteor Mash follows it up before the other Pokémon has a chance to react.

“That was too fast,” he says with a chuckle, throwing another Sport Ball at the Accelgor.

The last encounter would prove to be the deadliest one. Not realizing that they were in immediate danger, Lars gestures at the Sport Ball, which the Metagross picks up with its Telekinesis and levitates toward him. No sooner had he summoned the Sport Ball did this last one come rolling in—quite literally.

While Lars had no desire at all to own this particular Pokémon, he knew someone was potentially interested in it—and decided to humor the request. “Ro—get it. But be careful,” and off went the Metagross, quickly flinging out a Psychic blob of rainbow-colored energy at the Forretress.

A Mirror Shot attack came careening in—and a quick application of another Psychic blast forced the incoming attack to steer off-course—before the Forretress seemingly disappeared. Appearing a split-second away from the Metagross, it then attempts to use its entire body in a Gyro Ball attack, and the clanging sound of metal on metal can be heard through the area.

“Nasty,” he winces, before the Metagross rears back and slams into it with a Meteor Mash. While it didn’t work as powerfully as expected, another continuous rain of Psychic energy bombs began raining down around the Forretress, eventually wearing it down and out.

The last Sport Ball flew toward the Forretress, Lars keeping an eye on it as it was sucked up into the beam of red light before it could do any more damage.
