It had a few minutes since the poochyena had lost interest in Bip and Bo. The pair continued fleeing, unaware that the wild pokemon had been distracted by something more interesting some ways back. Bo had almost resolved to just keep their pace in order to get away from all the dog pokemon that were coming out of the wood works. A distant yelp interrupted Bo's plan, though. She came to a sudden stop with Bip skidding to a hault beside her.
"Did you hear that?" She poked her ear forward as if it would give her better hearing.
There it was again. Well, it wasn't much of a yelp this time -- more of a whine. But she definitely heard it and it was close. Bo lead them down the path a show ways and into the bushes. Whenever their footsteps got too loud, the whining seemed to die down and they would stop and wait. Eventually, they found the source: a riolu holding it's foot tenderly in his fore-paws. It growled at their intrusion. Bo tried to calm it down -- squatting low to the ground and speaking as gently as she could. "Hey, bud. I'm not here to hurt you."
She gradually edged her way to the riolu. "What's going on? Can I see?" She extended her hands cautiously towards the pokemon. Some time passed before the riolu reluctantly let her see his foot and the rock that had lodged itself deeply between his toes. "Oh, that does look painful, bud." She nodded sympathetically before quickly plucking the rock from his foot. It yelped again and jerked its foot back, angry at the pain and at Bo for causing it.
She waited for the fit to subside before urging him gently: "Can I see it again? We can wrap it up to stop the bleeding."
