"rocket," natalie echoes, taking another drag of theo's cigarette. this time she releases the smoke upwards and towards the light fixture. the room becomes a little more translucent.

"you're criminals. killers, rapists, thieves."

her eyes follow his fingers, and she moves to hand it over, but quickly flicks it in the direction of the snake. it disappears in the shadows of his jaw.

"i wonder what part of my work could interest an organization like yours?"

indifference towards living, or dying. interesting. she wonders for a moment what the inside of his head would look like? what kind of damage she could find?

she reaches out, grabbing the cigarette between her index and middle finger. natalie brings it to her lips in a long drag, blowing smoke into theo's face.

"and who is us?"

syfus takes the man's blatant disregard of it as an insult, muscles visibly tightening to strike. an ever so subtle look- the faintest of glances- demands obedience. the arbok obeys.

when he flicks a cigarette into his mouth, natalie arches an eyebrow, emerald eyes dancing between him and the volatile sac of liquid.

"do you?"

there was a budding resentment in natalie's chest. forced to work in this morgue, well past it's operating hours like some disgusting thievul just to get any semblance of work done. did it offer silence? yes. but was it also degrading for someone of her stature? yes.

it was true that natalie could, and would, do her research in any method possible. but even her patience had limits.

she didn't clock the stranger first as he approached, instead, the eleven foot long arbok coiled on a seperate, but nearby table did. he rose from his position, hood flaring and upper body swaying threateningly. the sounds of it's hissing posing to be more an irritation than the man before her.

"i do not know who you are," she started, looking up through clear, but stained goggles. "but, interrupting someone who is moments away from cutting through a highly flammable, and highly toxic liquid, isn't an intelligent move on your part." she states in a matter of fact way. "especially if they're not wearing the proper ppe." the threat slips out as she finishes. the skuntank on her table lie still, but the sac of volatile liquid she hovered over with a scalpel told theo she wasn't lying.

"speak quickly," she ordered. but was that for her sake, or his?

a sigh escapes natalie fairchild's lips. it's one of irritation. of regret. and finally, of resignation. syfus coiled around the trunk of a nearby cedar, head hovering dangerously close to an artificial hole. "i will take a sample first," she demands, sliding her tongue across her lips. with a flick of her wrist, the command is given and the arbok's moves to obey.

natalie watches with interest as her snake COILS it's body tighter, and tighter around the tree. splinters break off and cracks form in the bark. as if it was struggling prey, the tree begins to shake violently. but it's enough. a much smaller pokemon pushes itself free from it's den, rolling on the ground as it does so. when it's compound eyes look up, syfus is looming over, a god of death. hood engorged and INTIMIDATING, eyes pierce the venonat with a bloodlust filled GLARE that turns it's blood cold and leaves it unable to move.

natalie watches, checking the time on her wrist. she moves forcefully to the paralyzed creature, two layers of gloves already on delicate hands. one reaches out for leverage, while the other begins to cut away and file samples of it's fur into a plastic bag. satisfied with her collection, natalie moves to swab the poisonous creature's skin directly before she too places that away. "make it quick. we still have much work to do."

the sounds are revolting, but necessary. turning around, satisfied with her handling of the samples, she finds an imprint of the venonat still travelling down to syfus's gut. there's an unmistakeable purr of delight.

natalie stood, thrumming her fingers against the scales of her arbok thoughtfully. syfus coiled around his trainer, the lower end of his eleven foot long body flattening the grass as he moved. she didn't seem to mind the wrapping presence of the poison-type, sparing it no thought. the powerful muscles in his stomach clenched her mid-section and natalie responded with a quick and curt look. despite being twice her size, it lowered it's head submissively and reduced the pressure. "yes my dear, i am well aware of your hunger panes. it's an issue we'll rectify momentarily. but for now, let me think." there was venom in her last few words, and without even gauging the arbok's reaction, her expression once again shifted to distracted.

the biochemist went through the mental checklist of her belongings. vials. swabbing kit. plastic bags of all shapes and sizes. lights. flag markers. scalpels. and so, so much more. she'd be ready to do an in-field dissection should the need arise. just the idea brought a smile to her ruby painted lips. not that you could tell. the medical mask that covered her mouth, her bangs, and the hat she wore, all gave little away from her expression. it truly was the most perfect of days to learn a thing or two.

"come my love. let's see what trouble we can get into it."

that would be lovely. i've been loosely tracking the many threads you lot have been in and have come to truly appreciate all of your writing styles. natalie is one hundred percent down to do anything with avatars. she's itching to get her hands on one- dead or alive- and i would definitely like a more personal recruitment to solidify that idea with the 'bosses'. though she isn't interesting in rocket's usual dealings of violence and chaos, anything to further her research is a big bonus. i'll message you!
