Why they had picked him of all people, he had no idea. This felt like the kind of mission that was better suited to Rocket's Beasts, like bryan delarosa or mint frost . Maybe they were busy. Maybe they couldn't be asked. Maybe they'd just said no.

[break][break] A group of grunts had gotten their asses beat and kidnapped by a League patrol, and so now it was his and Belial Stone 's job to bail them out. At least the other man seemed to be better equipped at this sort of thing — if his appearance was any indication, at least.

In fact, the knowledge that he could be a little more casual, loosened some of the tension in his shoulders and the Rocket grunt seemed more at ease at her as they continued their trek. Only to tense up once more when they slowed to a stop at their destination.

Caden tried to - poorly - measure the distance of the other man, but it was difficult and all too fast.

(Or, at least, that was what Caden would tell himself to make him feel better.) But there was something unsettling about being paralyzed and stuck in the middle of nowhere, with nothing but creepy ghosts to keep you company.

[break][break] Almost as if his irritable thought conjured the other boy into existence, they appeared. A flash of red hair and a brilliant white light that had him flinching backwards.
