The first thing that came across his path was—aww, a Munna!

Even if he already had a Musharna he still wanted to have at least one that was his very own, so. The Munna that was heading his way threw up a Barrier however the screaming noise in the sky—his Braviary—suddenly came crashing down with a Sky Drop attack!

“Kyouya, what the fuck!” he screamed as the pink blur was snatched up in the avian’s claws before suddenly flying very high, and then crashing downward not too long after.

A Psybeam followed the Braviary afterward, however the avian retaliated with a Rock Slide attack to quell the Munna’s attack—

And out went the first Safari Ball to catch the pink flowery Pokémon.

Oh boy, here we go again!

This time, though, he was here with a definite sense of purpose—for the exact reason that there was something inside the Safari Zone this time that spoke literal volumes to him; in more ways than one.

After sliding the money across the counter and getting the four Safari Balls in return, he knew he had to get through this entire trip as quickly as possible, because—well, let’s just say that one very specific thing had his name written all over it.

Time to get cracking, then!

He… he had a plan.

To be honest, the one thing he was saving, was going to be for the ‘home stretch’, because he knew that what he was specifically planning was only going to last for a limited amount of time—and so he had to play his cards carefully.

The noise behind him isn’t missed either, considering that he didn’t go for a burst of speed on this one—and this was when he realized the fatal flaw…

That his Salamence had absolutely no speed-boosting moves at all!

“Fuck.”

The realization hit him like a ton of bricks as he drew a sharp breath, resting both hands flat on the base of the draconid’s neck. There was also the momentary flare of panic as the path narrowed—but he swallowed down his fear and bent down, hiding his head in the comfort of his Salamence’s neck.

~~After all, he was a Sky Rider…~~

“Gabe. I know you have better turning power than Kyouya… I’m going to trust you with this, okay?” he whispered quietly, watching as the crazy, hairpin-tight turns began to weave into sight.

After the crazy, intense battle for air supremacy—he was still behind the surprise dark horse Kyle and unsurprisingly, little Josh.

He was surprised to find out that he’d made up for some lost time, so there was that too.

(How loud was the home crowd yelling for him? He had no idea. However he could wager a guess that Ethan and Claire had called up pretty much everyone at the Sanctuary and they were most likely having a time in the stands.)

Now that there was a wide straightway for everyone to rest, he rubbed the back of his Salamence’s neck with both hands, and gave him this reassuring whistle.

“Rest while you can, I have a feeling the next part of the course is going to go crazy. We’re going to need all the power we can get when we get to the home stretch,” he reassured the draconid, who grunted and continued to coast along on the air currents.

Right now, he was at the desk, finishing up some paperwork that Claire had left behind for him to review when he thought… wait a second, when did the edges of his vision start blurring like that? What was… what was going on?

There was a prickly feeling of apprehension as he stood up, collected the papers and placed it in the envelope before sliding it back into the desk. The hairs on the back of his neck were standing up, alerting him that there was something… there was something coming, most likely.

He wasn’t wrong, the moment he heard his boyfriend yelling for him.

“Memo?” he shouted back, running in the direction of his voice, apprehension heavy around him as he did so.

What… what was going on?!

“Are—are you okay?!”

He was about to say something about the hot springs, but then bit his tongue because it involved one of his exes… and he knew that Memo had a particular jealous streak when it came to him talking about all the other guys that came before him.

“Oh, god, that was absolutely corny,” he chuckled, reaching down and giving him an affectionate noogie once he was done with the terrible attempt at a pick-up line.

“I just need to… get used to the heat, I guess. You know.”

He then felt his face turn fucking red, betraying him because. Well, there was a different kind of heat on his mind right now!

His Lucario continued to stare at his female counterpart, wondering if she was really more than what she let on—the way that she wanted to literally butt heads and have a full-on fight with… well…

“Wait, I have a question,” he continued, shifting his balance ever so slightly and raising his right arm halfway, like a student hesitant on volunteering information in class.

“What if they just charge right at you without all the niceties? What then?”

He did have a point.

(Or maybe he watched too many action movies, who knew?)

He was also hoping to get a few self-defense lessons out of this, too. At least, that’s what he wanted to learn.

“…you think they have a ramen stall here?”

Yes, Memo, your boyfriend has the appetite of a Snorlax, and you can’t stop him from eating at least one of everything!

He watched quietly as his boyfriend marched off to his room before returning with a paper bag, before filling it with—with—

“Oh, my god. Frog,” he began quietly watching as the manic happening just literally unfurled in front of him. He was tempted to ask if this was going to work, but knew better than to provoke a slightly manic amphibian.

(Because yes, provoking a manic partner was bad. He just knew.)

Just in case, he then accessed his PokéGear and began sifting through the Sanctuary-wide storage system; in particular his side of the storage and making sure to locate if he had a Pokémon that knew both Imprison and Teleport so they could catch the little sneak thief red-handed.

“Shouldn’t… shouldn’t we like, hide or something?” he suggested a few moments later.
