Lucas shines his flashlight every which way as he traverses the tunnel. Not out of fear of any wild pokemon, kabutops could handle that, but to make sure he wasn't walking past any interesting rocks.

Whenever Lucas finds a rock that looks promising he puts it into a bag slung over his shoulder.

"Oh it's no trouble at all. I can just bring the pokeballs in with me to work." Lucas is insistent on helping Illeana. It would take little effort on his part and not affect his work in the slightest.

"Have you ever talked to him before? FERNANDO SILPH would jump at the chance to help the League." Lucas pauses for a moment. "Here, you know what?" He reaches under his monitor for a sticky note and a pencil. "Here's his email," he says as he writes the councilman's league email on the sticky note.

"I think you should really reach out. What do you have to lose right?"

Lucas holds out the sticky note for Illeana to take.

Facing the opposite direction of aerodactyl as it flies away Vikavolt manages to evade the affect of scary face. Lucas begins to think that despite Alexei's seniority he wasn't the best gym leader around. He wasn't an expert battler but even he knew that scary face wouldn't have any effect when the pokemon is looking the other way.

"Vikavolt thunderbolt!"

Vikavolt veers left and unleashes a thunderbolt from between its pincers.

Lucas is quick to take advantage of the aerodactyl's slow retreat and Alexei's hesitance in shot calling.

"Get back!" The head scientist roars, his voice carrying across the battlefield. Vikavolt immediately begins its retreat, but it's speed is too slow. Still within the aerodactyl's range Lucas watches as its prehistoric energy crystallizes above vikavolt.

"Agility! Agility!"

Sparks fly off vikavolt's body as it surges forward and exits the rock slide's domain.

"Really? That's great to hear."

Lucas gives Illeana praise where praise is due. Despite her recent failings she still had some redeeming qualities to her.

Despite chastising her only moments ago Lucas is quick to lend a hand with Illeana's budding research. "Well if more samples is an issue I can help you with that." Lucas leans back in his chair. "I have three. No, two shiny pokemon you can extract samples from. And if need be I could always ask some friends I know if they have any. Like FERNANDO SILPH, he probably has a few lying around."

Lucas watches through a camera as Priam mad dashes through his gate. He closes it near immediately and rushes to the door. There was another doorbell there too. He had no doubt if he wasn't at the door within a minute it too would be spammed.

The head scientist opens the door. "Yeah yeah of course I did. I just sorta forget and was cleaning my rocks instead," he admits with a sigh. "But you're here now! So lets get started." Lucas moves away from the doorway and begins to quietly make his way through the halls.

"If you're hungry you can grab something from the kitchen," Lucas mentions as he passes it. If Priam doesn't stop he proceeds to the doors that lead to his backyard and battle area.

"Well do something!"

Lucas presses the pokeball button like a kid pushes a doorbell on Halloween. Relentlessly without any concerns of the consequences. Out of the submarine appear a gyarados and carracosta. Carracosta wrenches the surrounding rocks towards the Tapu with ancient power. The gyarados meanwhile beelines towards the target, its mouth agape to bite down when within range.

As the vortex begins to slowly subside grapploct blinks back into existence. It appendages poke out the vertex, outstretched towards the surrounding rocks. When they finally touch they do so at a colossal speed. Grapploct immediately retracts its arm and once again disappears into the vortex. The omanyte meanwhile is retracted into its shell while thrown about the vortex.

"Can't you say anything to it?" Lucas is beginning to think the legendary is more beast than man after all. "We can't fight forever!"

"It's alright, just make sure it doesn't happen again." Lucas flashes a small smile.

The scientist would dig deeper if Illeana weren't at risk of breaking down at his desk. He knew it'd sour their work relationship if she did.

"While we're here why don't you brief me a bit about your shiny research? How's that been going?" Lucas learns forward with hands on the desk as he changes topics.

Lucas unlocks the display case and gingerly takes each rock out. Careful not to get any fingerprints on them he wears a pair plastic white gloves. As he raises a brush to begin dusting them a voice rings through a speaker on the wall. Sighing Lucas places his beloved rock back in its display case and pulls off his gloves.

"Stop ringing the bell Priam!" Lucas pleads over the mic. "Noelle is still sleeping." He pushes a button on the console pad which make the front gates swing open. "Don't touch Bailey's pokemon either, they might bite you." Lucas pictures a killer spheal swallowing Priam's whole arm in one bite. A chilling thought.

"Only time will tell. But" Lucas lingers on the word for a moment. "Things do look promising though." He gives the woman a false reassurance.

"Saliva was found in the sample." Lucas repeats himself for his colleague. "A rather generous amount too it seems." His face is solemn as he spoke.

"What made it seem logical at the time Illeana? Because you knowingly contaminated the sample and ingested a potentially hazardous substance." Lucas remains monotone as he spoke despite the severity of Illeana's actions. He'd long since made peace with the sample's impurities. "You're not an intern anymore. You can't be doing these sort of things."

As they continue to delve further Lucas illuminates the way with lights from the submarine. The lights illuminate the blue shard for a moment before Tapu Fini takes it & Lucas can take a look.

"Fernando tell the Tapu-" before Lucas can finish he's cut off by an abrupt attack from the legendary. Warnings begin to go off within the submarine as the water vortex rages. Lucas attempts to guide the submarine away from the legendary but is too slow. He finds the submarine being dragged towards the raging vortex.

"Control your pokemon!" Lucas barks over the intercom as the submarine smashes into rocks. More warnings begin to go off within the submarine as it takes damage to the hull. "Submarines taking damage!"
