While the Magmar was an unexpected addition to his team, the main ‘goal’ of his entire trip here was this: he wanted a Scorbunny, and boy if it meant him having to hike out in one of the hottest (literally) places in Hoenn then so be it.

There was a little side-effect, though, considering that ice didn’t do well when placed against fire… it tended to melt.

All he could do was sigh, before taking a deep breath and continuing his search. What would he find out here this time?

Would his luck turn around?

Or was he going to exercise his surprising amount of patience and continue searching high and low until what he was looking for would appear?

First thing he comes across and it reminds him of a much-younger version of Gula.

…he should really give his Emboar more attention and exercise these days. Why had he ended up focusing on a main team—he was supposed to have different teams for different circumstances! Not lean on a same old bank of six familiar faces!

…well, he was partially guilty of doing that when it came to Ro and Alpha—but in his defense they were his first, his oldest, his most special.

There was also Suijin, but Ryujin was now standing in her father’s place, as was Nami, Gareth, and Lynette.

Anyway, he let the Pignite stomp off to somewhere—who knew where—and continued to wander around. Was the heat haze getting to him?

Was this his case of insanity?

The next thing he encountered—brought a hint of a crinkled little smile across his features.

He remembered both his Ninetales—one of fire, one of ice—before suddenly taking a sharp breath as he realized what the name of his fire-Ninetales was and let out a sigh.

I’m sure she’s out there, somewhere… probably never going to forgive me, but I don’t know at this point anymore… he thought sadly as he left the fire-Ninetales alone to its own devices. He knew how much of a wild temper his own Ninetales had (this went for the fire, not for the ice) and yet…

And yet…

He was still here, looking for that one certain Pokémon to come out of hiding.

His search would come to a premature end—because the Pokémon that he came across next reminded him of something that had happened not too long ago.

An incident where Suijin had practically screamed at him to run, to get the hell out of the warehouse before they were blown up, and it ended in a sea of flames—

Blinking as he shook his head, he willed himself to calm down, before leaving the Torkoal to its own devices. Surely, it wasn’t time. At least not yet, anyway.

Either way, he would be back, and soon.
