Kaida looked back just in time to see the unfortunate Salamance take a fist to the face, gaping in horror as the red monster descended and drained the dragon dry in an instant. Kaida leaned forward, grasping Bragi, Silk, and Muspel close. "Go. Hurry." She croaked, shaking as she broke away from the sight, "We'll get revenge later...promise." Clearly, they didn't have the firepower to properly beat this monstrosity, and as terrible as it was that Salamance died, survival came first...it always did, when they couldn't beat an enemy. [break][break]

She fell back to the group, Muspel circling around as Kaida pointed to the seaside town, mouthing the words "Go!", neither daring to talk nor thinking it was possible for the whole group to understand a sign. Immediately afterwards, Muspel unleashed Fire Spin, the spat fire twirling as it reached the monstrosity. There was no point to harming it, but she hoped the wall of flame would stall the monster, obscure the team even a little. Another quick circle, and Silk extended his body from Kaida, breathing out a twisting Sandstorm, it might harm the group a little, but anything was better than the monster chasing them. So, with the monster separated from them by a wall of flame and sand, Kaida hung on tight as Muspel screamed towards the seaside town. In preparation for what was no doubt a battle, Bragi Charged once more. [break][break]

Silk extended his body onto Muspel and Kaida's back, hoping his Sand Veil covered their presence. There was one hope that Kaida had, though left unsaid. If the monster chased them, it would find them, and it would kill them. They had only a chance to gain time to win this battle, to destroy the leader, and that was if the monster pursued easier prey. If there was anything a snake could do, it could disappear, leaving the enemy to find something else to terrorize. Still, that didn't stop a black tar of anger and the same familiar shame of failing her duty to gather in her stomach. [break][break]

Everything was for the sake of protecting her home, and the life within. It wasn't her fault the others chose to fight this fight. She could only protect what was hers, nothing more and, as far as she knew, Pokemon were hers to protect, and those familiar faces...not them. The choking tar didn't go away. [break][break]

Though his Hydreigon strikes true, it's thick tail slamming hard against the Beast's proboscis, it does not break. The creature does not falter, not even under the combined assault of all their Pokemon. Orion pales as he watches it pierce a girl's Salamence (@sanvi) and drain it dry. There is no help to be had; by the time Orion's fingers clench around his Slowbro's pokeball, the dragon's already dead.[break][break]

Wide, dark eyes find Kaida Adachi's as she points to the town. He nods.[break][break]

There was no other choice, not for Orion. His Hydreigon was the only Pokemon available to guard him, and if it went down... Orion's gaze finds the churning black waters, the Nihilego lurking like some beast of the deep.[break][break]

"Go." Orion echoes Kaida's command in a whisper, directed to his mount. Hydreigon, aggressive though it was, possessed an understanding of their need for silence. It turns from its prey, a shimmering REFLECTIVE barrier shrouding the team as it rushed forth in pursuit of Kaida and Muspel. It was difficult to see them through the swirling sand, but both mount and rider knew their end target: the seaside town to the east, where the alien forces had congregated.[break][break]

The inhuman scream that escaped her lips seeing her beloved Salamence die so easily to the thing surprised even Sanvi. The rage that overtook her did not. She wanted to rip that grotesque thing to pieces, bit by bit, as her dragon’s body fell from the sky. But she knew she couldn’t. The best she could do was throw one of her knives at the beast, aiming for the wings, for her Tatsu. The woman’s face was full of naked anger, even as two of the people in their little group turned to flee.

She had no choice, really, but to follow suit. If Kin went down she would die too, and so would Bell and Darling. So, clenching her fist, she commanded akin to fly through the sandstorm after Orion Lykos and Kaida Adachi . The steel raven would do his best to follow her orders, luckily not affected by the blowing sands and harsh winds of the storm as Sanvi herself had to close her eyes. Mentally, though, she’d made a promise- she’d be back for that life-sucking bastard.

•Sanvi follows Orion and Kaida through the sandstorm towards the seaside town.
•Corviknight has an Iron Defense prepared, ready to use upon being attacked.
•Sanvi throws a knife at the big bug aimed at the wings in a final f*ck you

Kaida felt she had no choice as the monstrosity followed them even now, as much as she didn't want to leave the air and relative safety of the group, she didn't anticipate that Muspel would continue being lucky. Besides, some hopeful part in her mind hoped that this chase, the injuries that were building up, were doing something tangible. [break][break]

"Down!" She bellowed at the same moment Bragi unleashed an Overdrive, aimed at the monstrosity's head. Their quick drop, plus the attack, hoped to throw off aim long enough for Kaida to reach the sands, close enough for her to scramble for a Pokeball and fling it down. Kjoll erupted in a flash of light, the Onix only pausing long enough to make sure the team was in range before Protect pulsed around them. [break][break]

In tentative protection, though Kaida fumed at the fact they were wasting precious time, she hissed out an animalistic snarl and pointed at the monster. Not daring to get any closer, Muspel flapped her wings, aiming to batter the beast with a barrage of Air Slashes as Silk spat another collapse of sandy Rock Slide at the bloodsucking thing. Predators should only chase prey they thought they could catch, she'd show it they were not easy prey. [break][break]

Whether the rest of the team followed her or not didn't matter to her. She didn't fail, and it was their decision to help or continue the mission. [break][break]

In spite of their efforts, Buzzwole persists.[break][break]

Orion hears Kaida's shout over the roar of wind and the buzz of insect wings in his ears; while unsure if it was a command to her team or a suggestion to the rest of them, he follows the advice with haste. His Hydreigon was his only Pokemon on the field and this high in the air, it would spell disaster to be knocked off or have the dragon faint beneath him.[break][break]

His three-headed mount twists in the air as they plummet, one of those heads lashing out with another BREAKING SWIPE at their relentless foe.[break][break]

When they reach ground, or close enough to release his team without them coming to harm from a fall, Orion frantically presses the buttons on their capsules. Swampert, Slowking, and his favourite weapon against these otherworldly monsters: his chimera, Type: Null.[break][break]

"Slowking, set up! Swampert, Percy, attack!"[break][break]

Slowking and Swampert are quick to obey. The air shimmers as the former sets up a PSYCHIC TERRAIN, then grows cold under the force of an oncoming AVALANCE prepared by the mud-fish.

Should they make it to the ground/close enough, Orion tosses out his Pokemon: Slowking, Swampert, Type: Null. He issues orders, but I didn't play out Null following them because I have a feeling it won't. 'Percy' is the name he's given the Null.[break]
Slowpoke uses PSYCHIC TERRAIN.[break]
Swampert uses AVALANCE on Buzzwole.[break]

Behind the shimmer of Protect, Kaida gaped as Alexander and his Salamance fell victim to the monster, cringing away as she returned Kjoll and ordered Muspel away. After Orion, away from here. [break][break]

He could have been torn to pieces, drained. Or fell into the ocean, and would drown in the churning waves. She should check. No, she should not. They'd die, and innocents needed their assistance. The battle had to be won. [break][break]

Muspel dropped the three on her back onto the speedboat, Bragi and Silk immediately making room for the humans. Silk resettled his Coil, sighing in satisfaction as his body felt more right once more. Bragi clung to the sides, alongside Kaida, how strange, to feel more safe on the Charizard than a boat such as this. Muspel followed swiftly, alongside the dark dragon. [break][break]

The plan should have been easy. Breach the seaside town, then free any hostages...kill the leader. Easy. It would have been, had Orion not been stricken down by a certain strange Pokemon. [break][break]

Her Pokemon and her dance on the edge of the struggle, unsure how to help without breaking Orion's wishes. She didn't want to hurt it. She'd seen how helpful any Pokemon could be, and could only wonder if being free from the helmet made it confused, hysterical, perhaps it didn't recognize him. Suddenly, Bragi ran forward, moving to wrap her arms around the chimera's midsection. Nuzzle sent electricity through the unorthodox hug, the Toxicitry chirping sympathetically. It was ok! Its fine! Just calm down! [break][break]

Suddenly aware how exposed they were on the beach, Kaida turned to Muspel, "Keep us safe, we'll take care of...ah...this!" Her order was followed, though with some hesitation, the Charizard taking up an aggressive stance as she launched Air Slashes at any enemy that mistook their stop on the beach as weakness. [break][break]

tl;dr: In group with Orion Lykos (This group sure fell apart). Kaida returns Onix and follows Orion. Kaida gets off Charizard, alongside her Pokemon onto the speedboat to give Charizard a break. Sandaconda uses Coil again in the boat, boosting attack, defense, and accuracy again. When they arrive on beach and Type-Null attacks, Toxicitry moves in for a "hug" and uses Nuzzle, trying to hold it still. Kaida orders Charizard to keep them safe, Charizard using Air Slash on anything that comes near.

Kaida steps back, growling deep as the beast of Orion's nearly awakens, then falls back into the rage it had succumbed to. "Bragi! Come back!" She roared over the rising noise of the background, not liking the look of the glow coming from the beast. Some kind of attack? Coming to the same conclusion, Bragi teared up, silently begging with Tearful Look that the beast would show them mercy. They were working together just a second ago! [break][break]

She tossed down a Pokeball, Kjoll roaring to life. Having had time to rest in a Pokeball, the Onix immediately unleashed Protect. He was the wall that would protect all the small ones with him. "I got it!" She answered Orion regarding the pillars, pointing to the same pillar and hoping Muspel would be enough to toppel it. The Charizard roared up, flapping her wings to cut it apart with Air Slash. [break][break]

Behind them, Silk the Sandaconda took upon Muspel's protective role. His Dig was unleashed on troops. The serpent surging through the sands as he aimed to bite and tear at them, he could smell humans...he hoped they'd be ok while these aliens were dealing with him... [break][break]

Kaida doesn't know what comes over her, a bark of cheery laughter briefly shaking her shoulders as she chokes out, "Its back!" Their strange friend was back to its senses! Pounding blood screams in her ears, the glee of something going so right dragging her to whip around to the rock monster. She'd destroy them, clearly, things were going right! [break][break]

"I'm going Orion!" She snarled, unsure where the energy was coming from, only sure that they were winning. If they destroyed that monster...she crouched low, teeth bared in a terrible smile as a glow emanated from her ankle. Where he slithered, Silk let out a hiss that almost sounded like a roar, erupting into a spinning sandstorm as he spun like a tornado. He didn't hesitate, as Kaida yelled out, "The monster!" He launched at the Stakataka, G-Max Sandblast aiming to tear the monster apart, grinding it to dust with sand. Wherever he ended up, he continued on, a living sandstorm of destruction.[break][break]

Aiming to protect herself and others, Kaida leapt upon Muspel and waved around herself, "Kjoll, protect us!" Stealth Rock twirled in the air, both a rocky defense and an attack. As Muspel leapt into the air, heading towards the monster and general, Bragi crackled with electric energy in Shift Gear, running like a madwoman after the Charizard. Through the town, to the general. Lightning crackled from Kaida's mount, Thunder Punch aiming to destroy anything that came near. [break][break]

She was going to kill him. She'd never been happier. She'd finally defend her home. [break][break]

As the western pillar crumbles beneath the combined force of their attacks, Orion's gaze is drawn by the brilliant beam of light that erupts from the eastern horizon. Silvally looks toward it, too, and the councilman can see the exact moment his chimera's bloodthirst calms.[break][break]

"Oh, Percy, thank the gods—" and Orion's never been particularly reverent, even of Hoenn's own legends, but his gratitude is genuine and raw as he throws his arms about Silvally's neck. "I was so worried for you, buddy, I'm so glad you're OK."[break][break]

His attention snaps to Kaida Adachi as she calls to him, and he nods.[break][break]

"We're with you!" To his Pokemon, he says, "We're going for the town! Hydreigon!"[break][break]

But it's Silvally who acts, gently tugging at Orion's sleeve to draw his gaze. Free of its confining helmet, the chimera's white mane shifts as it lowers its head and side-eyes its trainer with intent. It takes but a moment for Orion to realise what it wants: Silvally is taller even than the councilman, who was by no means a stout man, and its powerful muscles bunch as Orion clambers aboard. A nervous energy builds in his throat, a wild grin captured in his expression despite their dire circumstances.[break][break]

"All right, Perce..."[break][break]

He throws his arms around Silvally's neck once more. He expects Percy to run, but what he does not expect is the brilliant glow that begins to surround him. Orion has time to tighten his grip before the Silvally takes off with a BREAKNECK BLITZ toward the town. It's the only time it's ever used a Z-MOVE.[break][break]

Orion's other Pokemon are as surprised as their trainer, and can only follow at regular speed. They lash out at any cubes that come close, with Swampert capitalizing on the ice and hail to bring an AVALANCE down upon them. Hydreigon continues to leverage its tail with BREAKING SWIPE, and Slowking refreshes the PSYCHIC TERRAIN they've since left behind. The town was a battleground; it would likely be more useful here regardless. Without the guidance of their trainer, the Pokemon act upon their own instinct and reason.[break][break]

Relieved that Silvally is back to itself, Orion moves to follow Kaida. Silvally urges him to climb aboard and then uses it's Z-MOVE: BREAKNECK BLITZ to charge toward the mountain through the town, knocking aside anything in their way. From Bulbapedia, 'The user builds up its momentum using its Z-Power and crashes into the target at full speed.'[break]

Slowking uses PSYCHIC TERRAIN once more, because Thorn's determined to blast some aliens with Expanding Force at least once this raid.[break][break]

Kaida and her Pokemon climbed higher and higher, just in time to see sea levels rise and a legendary appearance. Kaida was no stranger to worship, nor a god, she had been revived before, after all. She held no reverence for a rampaging beast, though.[break][break]

Muspel steamed against the water hitting her scales, the Charizard still ready and willing to go. Clinging to a rock face, Bragi aimed and fired Overdrive at the right fin. "Kjoll, protect them! Muspel...let's go. Drop me and run if I'm killed." They had to protect them, the civilians climbing higher, the Pokemon. Those faces she still could remember. She wanted to do this. [break][break]

Muspel screamed forward, firing off Air Slashes. Back on the mountain, Kjoll used Stealth Rock, rocky shields and attacks against any remaining troops or incoming attacks. Still spinning like a cyclone, Silk joined the flight path of Muspel, firing off Rock Slide...they'd catch him when he transformed back, he trusted them. [break][break]

Muspel was closer now, close enough to see the beast in all its terrible glory, but also close enough to look upon its weaknesses. This wasn't like Orion's strange creature, she decided. This god knew not a single person here, and had no reason to stop for their words. They had to beat it. This close, Kaida hoped this wouldn't be seen as another tree. She could hear it already. Wasn't there more you could have done? [break][break]

At this moment, no, there was nothing else to do. [break][break]

Muspel's claws exploded with electricity in a Thunder Punch, claws reaching to slam into her enemy before immediately breaking away, for Silk was ready to fire. The Mega Sandaconda whirled closer, red fog giving even his calm demeanor something furious within. If Kaida wanted to protect her partners on the island, then he wasn't even scared of a sea god. Something arched towards Kyogre, another Overdrive sloppily aimed, but close enough. Right. They also had to protect their little one. [break][break]

Another G-Max Sandblast roared towards his enemy, the swirling sands hoping to irritating and rip at the vulnerable organ on the right fin. The Mega Evolution wouldn't last much longer, so the Sandaconda and Charizard flew at each other, Muspel grasping at the serpent to hold him even when his transformation wore off and gravity took hold again. [break][break]

Even from here, Kaida could see a Dragon Breath fired off. Kjoll, making certain that the people on the island were protected from any debris or enemies. [break][break]

This wasn't happening. Kaida really hoped this wasn't happening, not after she knew how smart and kind her allies were. [break][break]

Muspel caught Silk, even in the moment of chaos, cheery grumble rising in her throat as she cuddled the sand snake...and then the water erupted. Retreating briefly, Kaida and her team watched the walls rise up, and her face twisted as she bristled. "What!?" Cease what, saving their lives!? In this moment, she cared about the lives behind her, even if motivated by her own desire to never lose those familiar to her, but even as her care expanded beyond Pokemon, one thing of Kaida didn't change. She held no reverence to anything humans held dear. Worship. Authority. That meant nothing to her, and she was certain it meant nothing to a god. [break][break]

"Get out of the way!" She roared, her (hopefully) righteous fury leaking to her Pokemon, who snarled in their own language at what they thought was an idiot. If another blast came through, the ones on the mountain might not be able to get out of the way. She didn't think the deaths of innocents would please the god. She had to get the wall out of the way, if only to let attacks through. [break][break]

Like they read her mind, Muspel clawed at the wall and bees with Thunder Punch as Silk spat Rock Slide, attempting to pull the wall aside or swat the bees. "We have to defeat it!" She almost pled, what kind of faith could make one side with a pointless killer such as this? Even with the tree...she had died for a reason, because she messed up. The people behind her? They were good. They were hers, and she could never let them be hurt. If faith would keep her walled away, then her own faith in her death being for a reason would clash. One woman wasn't going to stop her. [break][break]

On the mountain, Bragi hugged Kjoll, near exhausted as she aimed one last time and fired another Overdrive. Kaida looked like she was in trouble, and ever helpful Bragi shot at the wall, hoping to zap the source and break it down for Kaida. Kjoll rumbled comfortably, conjuring up a Protect for all near him. It was going to be ok, little one.

tl;dr: Kaida is frankly, furious. Charizard uses Thunder Punch and Sandaconda uses Rock Slide to try and clear the wall of Combee and rock made by Olivia Abbiati to get clear view of Kyogre, trying to allow people attack and see any incoming attacks. Toxicitry hugs Onix and fires off another Overdrive, aiming sloppily at the wall and whatever is beyond. Onix uses Protect to help any civilians and people nearby.

Kaida and Muspel didn't dare move as Kyogre started to retreat, leaving Silk to watch their backs as they watched the water god retreat into the ocean, seemingly sated by the damage they had poured on it...had they exhausted the energy it had been enraged by? Either way, they were left alone here...Kaida's eyes flickered down to where Olivia Abbiati had fallen. [break][break]

Mayve the ocean swallowed her up.. Her mind provided unhelpfully, leaving a deep question in her mind, should she help? Her mind was less helpful on that basis. She was far more concerned with the civilians and allies behind her. They had wanted to live, unlike this woman, and deserved it more...maybe the thought was obvious to anybody else, but a weight came off Kaida. Maybe she didn't have to love every human. Much how she didn't have to hate every human. A quaint thought. Leave her love for those deserving, like her family and the friends who had flown so bravely with her...or the one she thought had died. She needed to try and find ALEXANDER STONE later...at least she could tell illeana reyes the news if he was killed. [break][break]

But first she had to help Orion Lykos and the civilians. So she left, she knew Olivia was under the waves, and tapped Muspel on her shoulders, guiding them away. She needed to save her strength for those who needed it. [break][break]

Kjoll and Bragi were descending the mountain, helping refugees along the way. They would be fine, first, "Orion! Orion!" She called, guiding Muspel to try and land near the man, "Everyone...is everyone alive?" She tried to jump off Muspel, and promptly slipped, only avoiding falling as Muspel scooped her up, the draconian holding its exhausted human close. The heat of the Charizard, the freezing rain, wounds she picked up, it was all too much. Still, she maintained some dignity, ignoring the masses of people gathering around the warm Charizard as she tried to talk calmly (and failing, she was shaking too much), "Have we won?"

tl;dr: Kaida leaves Olivia Abbiati and goes to fly back, calling out for Orion Lykos and asking him if everyone else survived. She is being carried around by her Charizard, who is offering herself as a heat source for the drenched refugees and fighters. Toxicitry and Onix are helping people down the mountain.

Orion hadn't recognized her, not at first. How could he? Olivia Abbiati as he'd known her had been a headstrong councilwoman. Here, he witnesses a broken shell taking a stand before her goddess as she beseeches all those present to call off the assault.[break][break]

"Olivia, what the hell are you doing?"[break][break]

But it's too late. Though their combined efforts break through the former councilwoman's barrier and continue to batter against the primal creature's fins, they are not quick enough to rescue Olivia from her fate. The sea claims her for its own, and she does not surface. Orion's jaw slackens in shock. He knows that she can hold her breath longer than most, had witnessed it firsthand in the aftermath of the New Years attack on the Night Market, but this...[break][break]

"Kaida." Orion's voice is strained as he turns to address his fellow Ranger, Kaida Adachi. "We're — fine, we're all fine, but Olivia..."[break][break]

Orion stares blankly over the roiling seas, Silvally standing firm at his side. He cannot hope to contend with the roiling waves, but Swampert...[break][break]

"She saved you, once..."[break][break]

Swampert understands. With a long look at his trainer, the purple-skinned mudfish turns and dives into the sea.[break][break]
