On a small island off the coast of Pacifidlog Town, a golurk with a bizarre looking man would land. The man was odd looking, pale with long white hair and striking green eyes. He was dressed in black, with a tall top hat resting on his head. On his arm was a picnic basket, which he gently cradled as he walked away from his golurk vessel. The man yawned, placing the basket on the ground and stretching his arms to the sky.

"What a day for a picnic!" He declared, taking a blanket from his basket and setting it out. He sat himself down and pulled a once covered thermos, filled to the brim with coffee. He took a hearty swig, sighing with satisfaction as he swallowed. "Indeed, there is nothing I enjoy more than having a picnic. In the middle of the ocean. Alone."

Perhaps Jaspar was laying it on a tad thick, but he figured aliens wouldn't be able to tell the difference between normal behavior and bad acting. If yiu haven't guessed yet, this was clearly a trap. Blue aliens had been spotted in this area, and when Jaspar and Alecto heard that news they saw an opportunity to advance their goals. Jaspar took another swig of his coffee, sighing a bit louder this time. If his noise didn't attract any blue people, perhaps what he pulled from the basket next would.

Jaspar pulled out a delicious smelling pie, so potent that you could probably smell it from Lilycove. Jaspar helped himself to a slice, chewing loudly and making exaggerated sounds of joy. As he chewed, he hoped Alecto had found a good spot to lie in wait. He would need her help should the blue visitors take the bait.

"It's not the waking,
it's the rising."

Alecto was quite proud of her pie -- and of course, she knew that her home-brewed coffee was second to none. She'd made sure of that a long time ago. The woman wasn't even surprised anymore when Jaspar haunted her front door early in the morning at the first sign of that delicious caffeinated liquid. She would too.

Regardless, the pie and the coffee made for a wonderful bait. That, and Jaspar himself if news were to be believed. From what Alecto had been able to unearth in the news and on the internet (using some of her less than savoury sources), these aliens were very keen on flesh. Human flesh if they were being choosy too. But seeing as it would be somewhat counterproductive to burn Jaspar, they'd made do with pie. A very enticing pie.

With the stage set, the only thing left to do was to wait. Alecto crouched behind a small outcropping of rocks, Seraphim a steady presence at her back. A ways to her left was another pokémon, a Cryogonal she'd purchased some time ago when her fridge had broken. She'd been meaning to either sell it or release it, but she'd ended up finding the snowflake strangely charming.

It was overcast, and a strange mist rose over the ocean. Out of the corner of her eye, Alecto spotted movement. She held her breath as several aliens approached, still not visible to Jaspar. They were a small group of four, but-- It was more than enough for what they had in mind. They only needed the one, really. "Come on, come on closer...

When they started running in Jaspar's direction, batons in hand, Alecto grinned. She whistled sharply and Seraphim disappeared from her side, reappearing on top of Jaspar and TELEPORTing him away -- and to Alecto's side. At the same time, Sandalphon the Cryogonal moved forward in a practised motion and the air around them turned freezing as it threw a FREEZE-DRY at the gathered aliens, hoping to either knock them out or at least stop them... hopefully, not dead.

As the aliens made themselves known, Jaspar gulped. He trusted Alecto to save him, but the sight of a group of blue humanoids prowling toward him made his hair stand on end. Jaspar took another swig of coffee, trying his best not to look like he was about to shit himself. Thankfully his partner was on the ball today.

Jaspar was teleported away, which he reacted to by heaving heavily. "I just about threw up the pie." he admitted between breaths, chuckling with relief. He quickly looked to the nearby struggle, delighting in the intruders' torment. His golurk stepped in to aid Alecto's brood, smashing the aliens as he tried to knock them out. The golurk was a tad too gung ho however, prompting Jaspar to call out, "Gentler! They need to be intact for the ritual!"

Hearing the word ritual really riled up one of the aliens, who swung his baton madly at the golurk. No one gave him the memo that golurks were immune to electricity though, so he was powerless as the golem knocked his lights out with a swift punch. Jaspar huffed, stepping out from behind the rocks as the last megaloplan went down. "What of gentle did you not understand!? Goodness me I think he has a black eye. Oh that just creams my corn."

Jaspar fussed over the aliens, wiping blue blood from various wounds. He looked to Alecto and sighed heavily, "Well they're alive at least, for now. We'll have to work with what we have. Let's load 'em up!" Jaspar giddily began to lift one of the aliens, attempting in vain to drape them over the golurk's back.

"It's not the waking,
it's the rising."

The plan went without a hitch. Spires of ice covered a good portion of the area where Jaspar had been. The basket and the food therein were completely frozen, which made Alecto frown slightly since, well, it was a waste of a perfectly good excellent pie.

The way Alecto's hand went to Jaspar's back, rubbing comforting circles as he heaved, was almost automatic. The woman could sympathize with Jaspar's nausea: teleporting could be disorienting, especially to one's stomach and if you weren't expecting it. Something about the lack of control. "Are you feeling better?"

As Jaspar called out to his Golurk, Alecto looked at the chaotic mess of ice and alien parts that their trap had become. It seemed the ghost was just a tad too enthusiastic. The woman frowned at the shattered remains of a particular alien. For a second she wondered if they were still alive, but quickly dismissed the question.

She stepped over a few arms and legs, the ice crunching under the weight of her boots. A light smirk pulled at her lips. "I call this a success." She nodded, stepping up to Jaspar's side and leaning against him. She peered at the black eye on one of the aliens and winced. Oh, that must've hurt.

The Golurk seemed a bit confused as to what to do now that punching apparently wasn't on the menu. Skyler patted its beefy arm, smiling. "Good job! We need to go back now." She turned to Jaspar. "How many do you think he can carry? Two?" Two should be enough for what they had planned.

The woman took a roll of silver duck tape out of her pocket and grinned wickedly at Jaspar. "They don't have to be comfortable, do they?"

Jaspar ceased his rather lofty attempts to lift the aliens omto his golurk's shoulders. With golurk just standing there, the task was all but impossible. Alecto had leaned on him, giving the increasingly irritated man a sense of calm. Jaspar was lucky to have such a comforting presence as a companion.

Jaspar nodded at Alecto's words, "A success indeed! More or less." Jaspar examined the frozen picnic and shook his head. Such a waste. Oh well, they'll just have to cook another! The very idea made Jaspar's stomach twitch with delight. He turned toward Alecto as she spoke, his eyes lighting up as she pulled out the duct tape. "You just have the best ideas Alecto!"

With the help of Alecto's pokemon, the two of them would securely tape two of the aliens to the golurk's back. The third of the group was smashed, so that left the fourth. Jaspar nodded toward the fourth alien popsicle. "Let's not leave any loose ends now." The golurk nodded, smashing his fist through the icey villain and sending alien bits all over. Jaspar nodded. "Right then, off we go!" He rather comically climbed up onto one of his golurk's shoulders before turning to help give Alecto a more graceful climb up.

"It's not the waking,
it's the rising."

Alecto quickly called her two Pokémon back into their pokéballs, making sure they were safely secured to her belt (it wouldn't do to lose her pokémon mid-flight; it would be dreadfully inconvenient having to search for them afterward). The dark-haired woman didn't even take notice of the remaining alien being smashed to bits, shards of limbs and organs strewn all over the frozen area.

Having the two aliens secured to Golurk's back, it was time to go. Her hands reached out for Jaspar's and she managed to climb all the way over to the Golurk's other shoulder, albeit with some difficulty. "Thanks, Jaspar," she breathed out, not used to any kind of extenuating physical activity (save for book lifting of course).

The flight back to Verdanturf went by thankfully uninterrupted. By the time their destination came into view, the sun had already disappeared under the horizon, its dying light coloring the world in shades of pink, purple and orange. "We should go around town. It would not do to have people see us." Not that they'd be able to see much, but still. Alecto wanted to play it safe. There was a small enclosed backyard attached to the bookstore where Golurk was directed to land.

Alecto swiftly unlocked the back door to the bookstore, making sure the way to the basement was unimpeded. "Are they unconscious?" Alecto asked, descending the stairs down to the underground level and flicking on the overhead light. Her fingers hovered over some of the pokéballs on her belt, wondering which one to start with.

There were two chairs in the middle of the basement, surrounded by a wall of books, a wide table with research materials and a strange altar on the side. Humming in thought, Alecto finally released a Dusclops into the room. "Dominion, stand right over there." The glint of a blade flashed in her hands as she motioned for the Golurk to step inside. They'd have to cut the aliens from the ghost before strapping them to the chairs.

And then the real work would begin.

As the golurk landed into the backyard of the bookstore, Jaspar gleefully hopped down and assisted his golem in getting inside. Alecto brought up the valid idea that their poisoners may no longer be knocked out, so to make sure Jaspar slapped them both. They did not stir, which Jaspar took as a good sign. He gave Alecto a thumbs up and the group made their way to the basement.

As Alecto prepared her part, Jaspar retrieved his own ceremonial blade from a nearby desk. It was resting on a display stand, waiting for its time to shine in crimson hues. Jaspar polished the blade a bit with a white cloth before walking to the golurk. He cut down one alien, and allowed Alecto to cut down the other. Jaspar tied his alien to one of the chairs before stepping back, waiting for Alecto to finish her own work.

Jaspar fiddled with the knife in his hand, overflowing with excitement as he waited to begin the ritual. Whenever Alecto finished, he would clap his hands giddily. "Time to shine! I've been waiting for this moment for so long! Places now everyone, places!" Jaspar grabbed two silver goblets from the alter, handing one to Alecto. He ran over to the alien he tied down on the right side, standing at its far left with the knife to its shoulder. As Alecto took her place, Jaspar would look to the golurk. He was performing his own duty of delicately lighting various candles around the basement. It was a good thing they practiced for it, Jaspar imagined the golurk smashing up the candles trying to light them and shuddered at the very notion. When all was ready, Jaspar took on a steely expression and began his memorized reading.

"We are specs in a vast darkness. Like stars in the night sky, we flicker in vain in defiance of our true natures. We are shades, bound to the endless Void. We are born from the Void, and when we die we shall return to it. Oh great shadow of creation, take pity upon these wretches who dared to turn away from your merciful embrace. Rejoice, as they return to whence they came." Jaspar dug the tip of his knife into the alien's shoulder, holding his goblet out to catch the blue blood that trickled down. Not quite the ruby glow the knife expected, but oh well.

He looked to Alecto, who had her own verse to read off before the sacrifice.
