He didn't really see the poor gal until he had literally stepped on her.

If the way she quite literally threw him off within a second was anything to go by, she did not appreciate it.

"Yikes!" Came out of his throat, his surprise evident as he stumbled back into his Scyther, the mantis quick to catch and pull him away the offended pokemon, whose pincers shone with a dangerous gleam.

If the angry gleam in her eyes was anything to go by, she had every bit of intention of putting Doug in his place.

Scyther met the gleam with a (tired) glare of her own, pulling Doug behind her to put a barrier between them. This was unquestionably the youth's fault... but that didn't mean she wouldn't kick the Dwebble to the curb if it tried anything.

Of course, Doug was having none of that.

"Waiwaiwait, my dear friend." He said casually as he wrapped his arms around the Scyther's waist and picked her up, before plopping her behind him, much to her blinking irritation.

He had just stepped on her. Was he really going to try and salvage this?

"Correct." He said as if reading her mind. Her lower lid twitched. In response, Doug winked and straightened his jacket, reaching up to adjust his straw hat before smiling at his pokemon. "Just wait and see, friend."

She swore to whatever deities were listening, if he somehow-

"I think she looks like a Kameba. What'cha think, girl? Do you see yourself as a Kameba?" He asked with a half coo to the rock-type bug in his arms.

One of his sleeves had been ruined from an failed first attempt at pacifying the (understandably) pissed bug, but it was nothing a little sew work couldn't fix.

Kama couldn't help but stare at the two with exaggerated contempt.

"Oh, don't give us that look. You are welcome to join in on this too."

He got pecked in the face sharply for that one. Ouch.
