Christmas time….it was so lonely. Billi disliked being alone during the holiday ever since he lost his family. Luckily for Billi Alexei Ivanov, was a great Drag Mom, and considering he was single this Christmas it worked out for everyone. Billi opened his door, letting Alexei in with a bright smile. “Hi mom!” Billi laughed to himself as Billi’s Yamper charged at Alexei jumping at his legs.

He had made sure to bring enough food for the both of them—because who knew how long they were going to be up all night talking?

Alexei wasn’t sure about the alcoholic drink situation either, so to be on the safe side he brought along a mix of non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks as well.

There was one carry bag slung on his right shoulder that had some of the food cases, while his Braviary hovered behind him, bringing along the rest of the food he’d prepared along with the drinks.

The moment the door opened, he was immediately tackled by a bright-yellow dog. It wasn’t anything he’d ever seen. Maybe it was one of those new Galarian Pokémon? He wasn’t too sure.

“Hello, fabulous,” he greeted back with a wave, giving Billi an affectionate hair rustle before following it up with a light-hearted noogie. “Are you ready to party? Well, I brought as much food as I could make for the both of us.”

The laughter was real from Billi’s stomach as the man noogied him. Being the giant that Billi was, he quickly took the food in his arms, as his Yamper ran back inside barking, bringing the attention of Billi’s other pokemon. At least the ones that could fit inside the main home comfortably. Tailor and Sewyer moved from the back room, to take the food from the Braviary, and quickly guided it towards the rooftop seating area, where it could relax and watch everyone and be included. [break][break]

“Hahahaha I don’t know if it’s a party if it’s two people.” he noted and looked at his watch, no message from oscar yet. Around the home floated Majora, the poipole who moved to twirl in front of Alexei on the counter top. “I started the vegetable stuff! I’d bake but uuh…. I’m not good at baking hahahaha,” he chuckled to himself, even though the room smelt like he tried.[break][break]

It was clear he ruined everything he baked. “There’s space upstairs for your big birds. Unfortunately they can’t be inside because it’s not that big for all of them, but there’s seating on the roof so we can go up with them.

“Anything can be a party as long as we try hard enough,” Alexei chuckled as he stepped over the threshold and followed Billi inside.

“You—you didn’t tell me you lived in such a big place,” he blinked, looking around and seeing that the entire place was—rather spacious. Now that the bags that the Braviary was carrying were relieved, he then flew upwards towards the rafters, sighing in relief as he nestled down on one of them—the better to see what the hell was going on beneath them.

“I can help you bake!” he offered. “In fact, baking just happens to be one of my specialties.”

While the air smelled of something burnt, Alexei brushed that off. If there was one thing he was good at—it was baking. And lots of it.

“Oh, she can help us out,” he remembered, chuckling as he dug up his Ribombee’s Love Ball and sent out Carina, watching as the beam of red light spun and unfolded itself into the little troublemaker.

“Say hi to Carina,” he gestured as the Ribombee got busy, spinning Billi a yellow Pollen Puff for the other man to try.

Welcoming Alexei into his home for the first time was calming and relaxing. His home was everyone’s home! He tried to be a good host to people and create a warming healthy energy in his home. Everything inside had purpose, had space, and a little bit of love and sometimes pixie dust if you want to call threads pixie dust. “I guess that’s true! It’ll be more of a pokemon party!” he laughed some as he heard Alexei saying he’d help him bake.[break][break]

“I just don’t get the basics or something or maybe i’m using something wrong.” Billi tried to reason and figure it out, but when the little fairy bug flew around and made him a snack he took it a smile and ate it, “ooh this is yummy” he stated as his own Cutiefly came out and gave a sweet kiss to alexei’s cheek.[break][break]

Tilting his head, “I didn’t know you bake. Come to think of it we don’t really know too much about each other outside of drag or warzones,”

“Well, consider this the ‘getting to know each other outside of drag’ phase,” Alexei replied, chuckling as another Ribombee joined the fray and flitted over to greet him.

“Just as sweet as Carina,” he remarked, holding out his finger for the other Cutiefly to land on should it wish. “Oh, I used to work a lot of odd jobs around Hoenn… I’ve been the Gym Leader for Fortree for two years now,” he added.

“I’ve been a dishwasher, a baker’s assistant—which is where I picked up my baking know-how, a bartender, and a whole lot of other things besides. It’s not easy living alone with a large number of Pokémon to feed, you know,” he ended with a laugh.

At the sight of the purple… well, was it even a Pokémon (he wasn’t sure) he raised his eyebrows.

“Oh, you have one of them too?” he inquired casually as Carina flew back over, holding several more yellow Pollen Puffs—handing one to the other Ribombee and one for Alexei to take.

“You’re not the only one with a naming block problem,” he reassured Billi as the other Cutiefly landed on his finger and began making the, well, cutest of faces his way!

“Aww, just as affectionate as Carina too!” he chuckled. Just as he was about to reach for the Pollen Puff his own Ribombee was offering, the purple creature sidled over and literally snatched it out of her hands!

“Uh oh,” he chuckled as Carina turned to face the unknown Pokémon, her own tiny little face puffing up before spinning a purple-colored Pollen Puff and chucking it at the strange creature that looked like it gave absolutely no fucks whatsoever at what it had done.

“Carina, what are you—“ Alexei blurted out as he realized what she had thrown a few moments later. “Carina, no—!” he exclaimed as the purple-colored Pollen Puff went flying towards the equally-purple Pokémon.

“I am so sorry for whatever damage Carina is about to cause,” he apologized prematurely, because he was absolutely certain this wasn’t going to end too well… yikes.

Anywho, he had to look down when Billi called over another Pokémon that was balancing something atop its petalled head. “Aha, I knew I almost forgot something—” he remembered, going over to where the bags of food and drink had been dropped off, going through them and picking up a wrapped present as well.

He wasn’t expecting to see a Frosmoth hovering close to where he was, before it suddenly… snowed. Indoors? What the heck?!

“What’s going on?” he asked Billi, chuckling as he realized that the ‘snow’ that was coming from the Frosmoth was actually the Pokémon… shedding? Its scales? Wait, didn’t he have one of these too?

He quickly flipped through his Pokégear, pulling up the information on Snom and its evolution—before chuckling.

“Oh, wow, it’s actually shedding its Ice Scales and making it fall like snow in here,” he laughed a few moments later. “Nice holiday touch, by the way.”

Christmas at Billi, was so calm, well sarcasm but still. Masjora caught the purple pollen puff, of which it didn’t think anything of it because the previous one was sweet! So it’s mouth opened wide and munched on it, but it’s mouth felt like it was on fire, like a charmander lighting wood stove on fire with it’s embers. But...it burned so bad that it spat out the puff. “hahahah” he laughed so hard.[break][break]

The gift was light and airy, almost soft as the snow fell from the Frosmoth, “Yeah it’s shedding lately! I’m using it to make some shirts later in the year!” he grinned as he was excited for his own present, but stared at the other, grinned wide, “open it,” inside was a scarf made from the Sizzilepede silk and scales, to make it constantly warm and comfortable. “I hope you like it! I really worked hard on it!”

“No, no, you open this one first,” he remarked, handing his own wrapped present to Billi first.

Shedding the paper wrapper would reveal a very extensive sewing kit he’d managed to squirrel over several weeks, swapping out all the thread with what his one and only drag son preferred—sourced from various Bug-types he had living across the Sanctuary.

“I know mine’s crappy and stuff—I had a hard time getting some of the contents, but I hope you like it,” Alexei muttered, looking away completely and totally embarrassed.

He was weighing the present Billi gave him in his hands, and decided to shred the paper off at the same time the other man was done opening his present. So it wasn’t so embarrassing, at least!

The drag mom was adamant on making Billi open his, so he did, nice and slow. “Oh….it’s so nice!” he opened the kit, and his eyes started to well up with some tears in his eyes. “Thank you!” he hugged the man because he loved the heart felt gift! Even if it wasn’t the highest quality, it was perfect, and works for any projects! And it even had more tools, and Alexei even themed the bag to match his buggies. Wiping off his tears from his face, “I love it,” normally...he wasn’t used to getting gifts from others, he was used to being the giver.[break][break]

“I….also..” he took a deep breath to stop the ugly crying as he moved to pet his snom who sneezed, and then hold Majora in his arms hugging him instead. “Was...offered the Gym Leader Position in Petalburg.” he mentioned. “And...I don’t know if I should take it!” he frowned, “I’m worried….and I love my home,” he motioned towards the home he built from nothing.

Once he was done shedding the paper off his own present, he was greeted with a very plush, soft red-colored scarf. Was he imagining things, or was the scarf—

“Is it—is it a heated scarf?” he asked Billi, holding the length of fabric in his hands as he stretched it out to get a full feel of the length and weight of the fabric he held. “And it’s red, too! How plush!” he remarked, wrapping it around his neck and feeling the warmth concentrate around his shoulders.

Ooh, this would definitely keep him warm on the colder evenings—or if he dared to go through Shoal Cave’s lower levels again.

Blinking at the next bit of information that was presented to him after returning the affectionate hug, he had to do a take two.

“Wait—they did?” he began. When was the last time Petalburg had a—oh. One of his friends had returned to have a Gym at Petalburg, but then again had just up and left without warning once more...

“What are you thinking of? Are you going to take it? What about—what about your work here?”

The joiy on Alexei’s face was enough to buy this moment a hundred times over! Nothing was better than a gift that had thought and soul into it! It was wonderfully crafted! And he made sure his Leavany were precise with their measurements and the best quality materials that he had! But the smile didn’t last long as the Christmas conversation turned over to a job discussion. [break][break]
While it wasn’t something bad, it was just...a lot of thought required. “Well I’d still technically be able to do my job from Petalburg. Selena and I would just converse over facetime or a monthly meeting. And to be honest...it’d make watching this side of the region easier.” he knew it was wise to move there and become the gym leader.[break][break]

He crossed his arms as he jumped up to sit on his countertop. “I’ve been thinking about it to be honest. And well..the city offered it to me,” he shrugged, “It wasn’t like a nomination or anything. Just Petalburg chose me I guess, and they said they’d help me move my things and give me a personal gym,” thinking again, “If i did take it, I don’t want them to spend a lot of money on a battleground.”

The logistics of flying out from Petalburg to Lilycove for meetings would be a nightmare, unless—

“Why don’t you get a Teleporting Pokémon? Whisk you away to Lilycove for meetings, be back to Petalburg within the same day? Cross-region traveling is possible with Teleport, or you didn’t think about that possibility?” he teased as he wrapped the scarf around his neck. Man, it really did feel warm to the touch after all!

“This would perpetually keep warm, right?” he confirmed as he looked up, lost in wrapping the fabric around himself and savoring the weight and feel of the cloth.

That brought him back to his own Sanctuary.

“To be honest, I didn’t ask for much funding either when the Fortree Rescue and Treatment Sanctuary was built—I dumped a huge part of my personal savings into the Sanctuary, and only asked for some supplemental funds to get the gym proper built out back. I’d want to oversee the Sanctuary proper without running into all the red tape…” he mused.

After a while, though…

“So… are you going to take the Petalburg position?” he inquired, wondering if Billi had given it enough of a thought. “If you need help, you know I’m always around.”
