His attention is pulled onto the Nihilego, finally able to interact with it up close and persona. Having to reduce himself to seeing it on a computer screen doesn’t do the beast justice. Regardless of how disarmingly vibrant its off-brand color scheme may be, the horrors of its unearthly anatomy unnerves him to no end.

“Execute!”

The immediate turn of the battle hinges on the environment. A SLUDGE WAVE threatens to wash out the MISTY TERRAIN in a sea of purple—a travesty that besmirches the majesty of the regional divinity and will not be allowed.

A hoarse creak resonates from the unseen shadows of the Tapu’s shell as it finally expresses something beyond indifference. It’s eyes narrow, much like Fernando’s typical glare, with the white visage above it serving as symbolic eyebrows. A BLIZZARD comes out in full force, amplified by the artificial environment to help solidify the bile liquid into a standstill.

But winter does not end where the purple ice begins. A torrent of frigid air looks to batter and berate all that rise against true ice.

The Ultra Beast always finds a way to exceed expectations. Such deft and sudden movements catch Fernando off guard. But that means little when the only actions that matter belong to their combatants. Unfortunately, there's little Tapu Fini can do against the ricocheting icicles that blanket their side of the field.

Concentrated bursts of SURF shoot several of them off point but the sheer spread means that several find their mark. They shatter against the jet black carapace of Tapu Fini's outer layer. Those that crumble from the impact reveal the cooled poison beneath the frosted exterior, pickling in several spots as the nefarious blight marinates across the Fairy Pokemon's surface. The pain burns a renewed focus in the Legendary and it has to ease into a CALM MIND to stop from lashing out in raw aggression.

Fernando continues to observe with a vexed interest, aware of the Tapu Fini's counter attack as it uses the remnants of its SURF to fire one last stream of water at the Nihilego's form.

[attr="class","spiral"]The urgency in which Katherine calls out her attack, no matter what it may be, causes Fernando to respond in kind. He won't chance it against an unknown Ultra Beast, even if it's nothing more than a feint. Considering the type of mind games one has to put into such a display, it's highly unlikely, but the thought does cross his mind as he thrusts his hand out.

"PROTECT!"

The neon green cannot come up soon enough. Tapu Fini's innate barrier recoils against the attack's pressure, crumbling in spades as each piece becomes a fragmented shard of glass. But the shield holds up long enough. Their offense thwarted, Tapu Fini wheels back once more, this time pooling up the remaining MISTY TERRAIN into a crackle of NATURE'S MADNESS. It frenzies within her palm, arcing outwards in several jolts of wild electricity as they look to strike in revenge for tainting the icy field of their battleground.

[attr="class","spiral"]NATURE'S MADNESS pierces through the SLUDGE WAVE in the same manner that the wave persists beyond the fairy's arc. Neither attack gets cancelled out despite their clash and Tapu Fini has to persist as the toxic waves wash all around it. The travesty of allowing such vile backwash encroach onto its MISTY TERRAIN is offsetting but there's little time to dally.

The way the HEX resurfaces, manipulated from beyond the initial contortion, catching Fernando by surprise. His expression deadpans into one of surprise and bitter frustration as he looks to override the battle with his own commands. "BLIZZARD!" The command comes a bit late considering the HEX'S existence but the Tapu Fini still abides by it.

HEX meshes in with the SLUDGE WAVE, a terrible concoction that returns the black hide of the Legendary into it's trademark purple. The pained expression it lets out comes across as vibrant and real—impossible for a creature with so few tells. It withers as the effects seep in past skin and body, struggling to uphold itself as all of this comes to an end in a frigid backlash.

The purple swamp solidifies as the ice sprouts from the Pokemon's shell. Another serving of the Tundra's BLIZZARD looks to cover the field as Katherine reaches out. In the deafening blow of the attack's obstruction, her actions go unnoticed, blanketed by the fleeting snow.

Fernando cannot grasp how the next SLUDGE WAVE disregards the intensity of Tapu Fini's BLIZZARD as if it were nothing more than a faint breeze. The tempo of the battle threatens to tilt in Katherine's favor when their attack is rendered useless, abruptly interrupted in lieu of their counter attack.

This time, the miasma sweeps the Tapu Fini clean off its position. No longer will the attack prove little more than a nuisance, insidious in nature, but nothing more than a delayed burn. Their BATTLE BOND demands respect and the sheer force of the attack spins the Tapu against its will, leaving it in a tizzy as the waves sweep past Fernando and flood the field.

"...?"



Panic and pure survival instinct causes his body to decompress its own MISTY TERRAIN as a stressor. That's the only means of protection he has against the ankle deep sludge that pool around his feet. Even despite this, he can only stare in horror, speechless in the face of whatever abomination Katherine's fused with.

"Tapu Fini!"

His shout is laced with concern but serves as a call to action. Unbeknownst to them, Katherine has already won this battle. But Fernando still hedges his bet that he can come back. Against an unknown power level, the only thing he can do is push himself to his limits.

Tapu Fini understands this and its SURF starts to leak from its shell. For now, it's used defensively, giving it a new platform to float on and dispel the pooled poison that still remains close by.

[attr="class","spiral"]White as far as the eye can see. The bleak tundra of the arena makes the attack all the more potent. No one see past the POWER GEM'S blaring light. And it burns. Intense heat pries and the Tapu Fini's black shell, leaving a red scotch mark on where the energy actually connects. This time however the Pokemon is not sent reeling back. The energy lack kinetic power in exchange for a chemical like burn. It's just a different method of applying just as potent damage.

Tapu Fini withstand this, not without wear, but all on the bleak understanding that the VINDICTIVE will always have its revenge. The SURF surrounding it comes into play as it melds into a sense of energy. Given the atmosphere and temperature turning it into solid ice proves surprisingly easy. It serves as a pedestal as the Tapu Fini responds by expunging the entirety of its inner energy.

The NATURE'S MADNESS is more than just a channeled attack. Beyond the flash of fairy laced electricity is the ability to harness the environmental power that coexists within the world. Tapping into it all at once allows the deity to wield the very arena itself as a weapon. An indigo hue surrounds the Pokemon's eyes as the ice suddenly expands.

It grows.

And grows.


The whole field becomes a frozen sheet as the SUBZERO SLAMMER takes all that pent up potential and shatters it at the very core. The resulting explosion has the impact that surpasses any 'regular' attack. Splintering debris only adds insult to what will serve as an undoubtable severe injury.
