Hailing from Pacifidlog City, where she'd spent most of her life, Thais was pretty familiar with Corsola. After all, an old colony of them was literally the foundation of her hometown! In her sprawling , Pacifidlogian family, injuring a Corsola was bad luck. Fishermen who found them tangled up in their nets would let them go without a moment's hesitation, even if their glittering pink skin fetched a high price on the black market. Seeing a group of them swimming past was supposed to be a sign of good fortune, or so her aunties had told her when Thais was a kid. Thais herself was more of a fan of the aggressive-looking Water-types - sharp teeth and rough skin - but she did have a soft spot for the Coral Pokémon.[break][break]

So, hen she saw the researchers' plea for help posted on a Lilycove City lamp post, Thais immediately canceled all other plans. The Corsola needed her help![break][break]

The tall, olive-skinned woman waited at the meeting point, a medium-sized island at Route 127. In the distance, she could see Mossdeep City, the Space Station punctuating the skyline. A small dock had been set up on the island, along with an improvised awning for shade. The researchers clearly needed a lot of help, because they had been quite generous with their provided equipment: sets of scuba gear sat in crates under the awning; and tethered at the end of the dock was a small motorboat. These Corsola were serious business, evidently.[break][break]

Thais gave a little sigh, pacing across the dock. Gem, her Staryu, lay immobile in the sand, happily soaking up the rays. The researcher she'd talked to on the phone had mentioned she'd have a partner for this mission - no clue as to exactly who that was, but Thais hoped they were nice. It would suck to spend her day off with some stuck-up trainer, even if they were doing a good deed. The woman glanced at her wristwatch, then up at the sky. The sun was still high; they'd have plenty of time to do their mission. Nevertheless, Thais felt a little apprehensive. She wanted to get in on the action as soon as possible.[break][break]

"You excited, Gem?" said Thais as she sat down in the sand next to her Staryu, pulling her legs up to her chest. Gem simply lay there, immobile. "Oh. Forgot you weren't much of a conversationalist," muttered Thais under her breath. Her partner'd better show up soon, or she'd go numb with boredom.
