Some time had passed, but eventually, Lars had managed to return again to where he was meeting the decidedly equine Pokémon.
His PokéGear kept turning up
“no data available” no matter how many times he would attempt to scan it, however—this time, there was something decidedly…
off about it.
“What happened to you?” he asked the thin air, wondering if the strange equine could hear him. Since there was nobody around…
He then took off his gloves, and shoved them in his jacket pocket. Seeing as how he was pretty much immune to cold temperatures now, he could… try to touch the equine’s body this time.
“Whoa, there, I’m not going to hurt you,” he said as the skittish creature backed away initially, before he held up his palms to show he meant no harm.
“Let me just look… at you. You’re dirty, did you know that?” he said, calmly laying his hands on the equine’s frozen body and not even fucking flinching at all!
“There, there… easy…” he continued, running his bare hands over the smooth, crystalline body—until he was met with the splatter and gross feeling of wet mud.
“Kinda big dirty patch there…” he went on, backing away to show the creature his now-stained hands that were brown with filth. Normally, any sane human would have their hands turning blue or even beginning to suffer frostbite, but Lars had an advantage here.
And he was going to make the most of it as much as he could.“Wait here. I know what to do.”With that, he made several more gestures, before popping a Gallade into existence.
“Wait for me. I’ll be back, okay? I swear.”It didn’t take too long for him to warp away with a
Teleport and then drop by the nearest Pokémon Center which was out at Mossdeep, to retrieve two companions he needed for this task. Hoping he was quick enough, he then warped back with another
Teleport courtesy of Gareth, his Gallade.
The equine—was still there, where he’d left it.
“See?” he began once he’d rematerialized and recalled the Gallade.
“I told you I’d be back. Now stand still…”He then summoned forth two more Pokémon—one of them a loan from a certain pink-haired lady, the other his own. The Cinccino and the Sobble hit the ground, confused, before the fluffy Pokémon began making a fuss and starting a beeline towards the dirt!
“Guess I was right after all,” he said with a chuckle as the Cincinno then got busy, scrubbing and cleaning up the mud as best as she could. There were angry, tittering noises coming from the Cincinno, while the equine stood still.
Eventually, he picked up the Sobble and then pointed at the muddy spots.
“Use Soak, but move quickly! Water turns to ice!” he continued as the Sobble took aim, alternating with the scrubbing and the fussing that the Cincinno was doing on the stubborn, muddy spots.
It took some time as the two took turns
Soaking the frozen body and scrubbing, but eventually, the equine was restored back to its unnatural—ethereal—whiteness.
“Good job, you two,” he said as the Cincinno finally walked over, satisfied that the other Pokémon (was it a Pokémon?) was clean—
But as always, the equine had disappeared.
“Really…”@tag
