It seemed he was starting to make a habit of visiting the Safari Zone late in its cycle.

As always the staff management did a 'bangup' job of redecorating for each new thematic run. The Haunted House and Temple Nights cycles were the most memorable so far but this; a full on castle grounds?

Having the relocating Ren Faire make an appearance here would have been a hell of an event. A Ren-Faire Safari sounded like the crossover the year but it was a good idea hatched a bit too late to matter.

Instead, capturing a few wayward Goldeen would have to suffice; Oshawotts and Treeckos were welcome exceptions.

An Oshawott rounded a corner, taking its time and using all its cunning to descend stairs under the ranger's gaze.

When its feet touched the ground it turned to face him with a serious face and a battle stance.

Charging him with an Aqua Jet he was barely able to dive from its path.

A second charge into the large man knocked him off his feet leaving him laid out flat, the sea otter pokémon proudly standing atop its defeated foe.

With a strained effort the ranger offered the Oshawott a prize in submission. A safari ball.

Accepting of the token of submission the water-type touched the front button of the ball quickly being willed inside.

Crimsen attempted to capture Oshawott!

The strength difference between humans and pokémon was always such a shock up close and personal.

Clearly humans were the brains and pokémon the brawn.

The Oshawott hadn't quite knocked the wind out of him but the point of impact from the Aqua Jet, his chest, was a little sore.

He paid the buddling no mind as he rubbed at the sore spot, continuing on his safari.

He managed to get on for no less than five minutes before noticing the Petilil stuck to ankle and holding on for dear life.

It seemed frightened to hold on to him, frightened to be noticed by him and even more frightened to be removed from him. It clung to him with such intensity that he had to be pointedly careful not to injury its soft body by yanking it away from leg.

Seemingly, as it sometimes happened in the wild, a light bulb went off in the ranger's brain.

DEXapp revealed some useful factoids about the little onion-mon and as she seemed to be fighting her own fears to be near him he tickled her belly with a finger to soothe her and eventually, she smiled at him.

He hadn't come this time for a Petilil, but there was some quick connection formed that wouldn't let him leave this one behind.

Crimsen attempted to befriend Petilil.

Sometime later the ranger encountered two treeco in a serious battle.

Not even his human presence seemed to disturb them and in seconds it was over. Although he could have easily defeated the victorious and worn down fighter with no damage to the safari environment there something about the fallen treecko that spoke to him.

His desire to make a winner out of a loser got the best of him.

As he closed in on the downed treecko the other scampered off. With a safari ball he sent the defeated fighter on a new path of victory.

Crimsen attempted to capture Treecko.

With all of his wandering around he seemed to only be able to explore a bit of the new setting. With only one safari ball he didn't wager he'd see the rest of it before it was his time to go.

He saw a durant wandering about the grounds to the east, but he wasn't going to leave without a goldeen.
