Oldale was left no worse for wear after the Vital Spirit Festival but the reports of rampaging dragons seemed to undersell the danger the little woodland city might be facing.

If it was up to him to bring a horde of dragon types to heel, he was glad he'd brought a few dragons with him...

that made him doubly glad he wasn't the only one who had.

Dragons, again!

Lars could only sigh and wonder, what the hell was going on with the wildlife these days. Why were they rampaging out of control? Was there something in the air again?

He wasn’t aware if this was a yearly thing where they all decided to lose their shit as a communal reaction and just basically go bananas, so there was that.

Another thing here was that he was… well, this was a little prickly subject for him, at least.

“My usual,” was what he’d reply. “They’re capable enough to handle a threat like this.”

His usual team of six. Even if only one of them had an Ice-type move, he had Lynette after all. She could pack a kick-ass punch when she needed to with her Fairy-type attack as needed.

It wasn't often he was assigned to assignments with Lars.

He moved around so much on his own; enlisting the help from whoever he could with consistent success. He got so much done without bothering his superiors or even other rangers that they'd promoted him for it.

Both Heads in one place.

It almost seemed like a waste of resources to put them both on the same task.

However, mandates insisted on two-person teams at minimum, and it was one he couldn't disagree with. It was the safer and more strategic option and it served both the rangers and the officers well.

A pack of wayward dragons would be dealt with swiftly enough if either of the two of them were worth half what the league paid them.

It smelled of something—

Burnt.

“It’s close,” he remarked. Having dealt with so many rampaging Pokémon over the years had drilled a sense of caution, of danger into him—

He remembered the very first time he’d been sent out to handle a Dragon-type that had gone ballistic. Similar premise, different location. The dragon in question just happened to be a Salamence that had very nearly scorched half his hair off.

His partner at the time, a senior Ranger who was showing him the ropes, wasn’t so lucky.

It was back then, he knew that Dragon-types were to be feared. Which was why, until recently, he hadn’t expanded his own collection to include them.

He was hoping, however, that he didn’t have to reveal one of the secrets he kept close to the other.

He was well-aware of how Sénon was a witness during that blasted contract-signing.

And so he had no idea how the other would react when it came to… using that in plain view.

Hanging back on he let Anderson take point.

He was more experienced and had a legendary power to call upon. Sénon would be support and extra muscle.

"There it is." A large fire pit seemed to be what they were fighting over.

He counted at least four species of dragon-types having had it out down below but all that remained were a squabbling two. They looked strong enough but neither could beat a whole team of well trained 'dragon-killers'.

If that was the case, Anderson didn't need support. The both of them could each take down one thrashing dragon.

"Which one do you want?" He asked, reaching for a pokéball of his own.

“Whichever one you want to deal with, I’m not even picky at this point,” he said as he reached into his own pocket and pulled out a pink Love Ball before popping it to full size.

“I’d rather we get this done quickly before the damage spreads even further and this shit gets out of control. Less hassle on the paperwork too.”

With a single flick, the pink containment unit expands and reveals an Altaria from its depths in a flash of red light.

“Get ready, Nami.”

With that the Altaria bolsters her defenses with a Cotton Guard just in case a physical attack gets thrown sky-high and manages to hit her.

"Fair enough." After the go-head from Anderson he swung in low and fast on back of Hiei his Salamence.

A Tyrantrum was on the left side of the fire-pit battleground and Hiei caught its attention with a unyielding facial strike supported with psychic-focus.

Hiei used ZEN HEADBUTT!

Dodging a STOMPING TANTRUM in retaliation Hiei flew off and fly up to gain to distance in altitude while leaving the other dragon to Lars.

Hiei used FLY!

The humming of the Altaria was not far behind, preparing herself as a sweeping Ice Beam came in strafing from behind.

“Nami, careful out there,” he continued, seeing as how the other had brought out two Pokémon, he decided to do the same—

A few moments later a Gardevoir hit the field, unfurling herself from the beam of red light whence she had been summoned.

“Catch it,” was all he said to Lynette, who nodded and aimed a Moonblast that followed in the aftermath of the Ice Beam attack.

Since Sénon was going up-close and personal, he’d take the rearguard and go ranged.

Altaria used Ice Beam!
Gardevoir used Moonblast!

Descending from the sky with a brutal impact from FLY Tyrantrum took a nasty blow to its balance, before it could recover a sniping Kingdra was staring it down.

Kingdra used LASER FOCUS!
Kingdra used ICE BEAM!

Chilled to the bone the frozen Tyrantrum rolled its eyes back into unconsciousness.

Leaving the other to Lars Sénon called in on the comms for backup, they would need a few more bodies to get these dragons off site and away from one another.

But only because simply capturing all of them was both arrogant and bad for the environment.

"Game here; available rangers about the Oldale vicinity on my location." He wanted Anderson in his taking down of the last dragon. "GPS locations pinged."

A sudden burst of Psychic energy from the Gardevoir would catch the other Dragon-type by surprise, letting out a surprise roar as it tried to chase after the Tyrantrum. Boy, they really had issues, didn’t they?

“Nami, strafe!” he called out, watching as the humming sentient cloud of an Altaria came screaming from the skies with this time, a Dragon Pulse attack before tapering off and regaining altitude.

“I swear, every single year there are always dragons up to no good…” he said with a sigh as he poked at his PokéGear to send out an additional summons for assistance as well.

“They have no chill.”

Altaria used Dragon Pulse!
Gardevoir used Psychic!
