The first thing he saw was a—aww, it was a familiar sight from home!

The thing was that he already had one, and even if he wanted to adopt this one and take it home as well, he had a feeling that there was something else out there, waiting for him.

Rather than disturbing the Carracosta as it sunbathed near the shoreline, he gave it a friendly little glance before going around it. Who knew if it was the snapping kind? The one he owned certainly had a habit of biting strange people when they got too close without him around…

Either way, he continued his walk along the sandy beach. Who knew what was going to turn up?

The next thing that crossed his path—

What the heck?

Alexei blinked a few times. Okay, from something that resembled a not-ninja turtle, this time it was a literal walking patch of cotton candy?

Wait a second—

He then pointed his PokéGear at the thing, which identified it as a Swirlix. It wasn’t something he’d seen around these parts, so how the hell did it end up—

Before he could summarize his thoughts, a sudden sickeningly sweet odor permeated his nostrils that made them flare up. It was a Fairy Wind attack!

“Oh, yikes, too sweet!” he muttered, quickly throwing out a Pokéball at random and praying he got it right—unfortunately it was his Salamence that came right into the remnant of the earlier attack.

“Just—bear it! Flamethrower!” he shouted, pinching his nose and watching as the Salamence released a controlled blast of fire, surrounding the Swirlix before it released a painful-sounding shriek.

“Gah,” he hissed as the Salamence kept up the Flamethrower blast, weathering the hit of another Fairy Wind before the flames eventually sent it into a retreat.

“Sorry about that, Gabe…” he apologized to the Salamence.

Okay so the next Pokémon was something he already had, but he knew that there was someone who was looking for one of these out there somewhere.

“Gabe, are you—are you okay?” he turned to ask the Salamence, who was still wincing from the aftereffects of the Fairy Wind attack from earlier. Realizing that Fairy-type attacks really did a number on draconids, he quickly recalled the Salamence and instead sent out…

Oh dear.

Oh, hell no.

Carina was here and she was out to play. And wanted maybe more than a little revenge for being so ignored.

The Ribombee then proceeded to make a face in Alexei’s direction, before turning to face the Marshtomp. Even before he could open his mouth, she then promptly chucked a purple-colored Pollen Puff at the dual-type’s feet.

“Carina, what the hell—“ he began, before the Marshtomp stupidly wandered over and then began eating the purple ‘treat’ without preamble!

The tiny little Ribombee then turned around and then began buzzing rather ominously—like she was cackling.



Several more purple-colored Pollen Puffs then made their way towards the hungry Marshtomp, who continued to eat them without realizing how much of a stomachache it was going to get later…

And then, suddenly, a wave of Muddy Water came hurtling their way!

“Yikes!” Alexei shrieked as he jumped out of the way, the attack drenching Carina from head to toe.

Uh-oh.

A few moments later a powerful burst of lunar light came from the Ribombee, having thrown a Moonblast attack at the Marshtomp that struck it full-on in the face.

Ouch!

“Wow, Carina, that was so… mean of you,” he said with a sigh as he threw an empty Pokéball at the downed Marshtomp. With so many purple Pollen Puffs eaten earlier, it was no surprise it went down really quickly.
