Today was the day that the universe would have mercy on one Laurence Michael Anderson, for finally, after so many encounters within the Shoal Cave, something entirely different that was not on the list of Ice-types he currently possessed decided to show up.

…and then promptly make him crash into an invisible ‘wall’.

“Ah, shit,” was all he had time to say before he saw that—holy shit, wait a second wasn’t this similar to those Mr. Mimes he’d diverted away from the bike path back in Slateport? However instead of being pink this one was more on the blue side of things—

A sudden barrage of Ice Shard attacks then caught him off-guard! How was it able to send the attacks through the barrier (animé logic, he guessed) while taunting him at the same time?!

“Guess we gon’ have to do this the hard way again, eh,” was all he said before remembering that any Pokémon that was of the Mime line had a tendency to act through fake-out actions, so instead of blocking or dodging the incoming attack, he quickly ‘pulled out’ a ‘shield’ and used ‘it’ to block against the barrage of Ice Shard attacks.

Surprisingly?

It worked.

The harebrained strategy worked!

“Well, well, MATIAS SILPH, thanks for reminding me how to deal with these suckers,” he said with this shit-eating grin on his face as another barrage of Ice Shard attacks came his way. Raising the ‘shield’ a second time, he then waved his arm off to one side, ‘deflecting’ the shards away before raising a ‘sword’ and bringing it down on the ‘wall’ that he’d crashed into earlier.

The ‘wall’ came apart with a smashing ‘noise’, which left the Mr. Rime shocked at what had happened—and this was the point where Lars, completely and blatantly shameless, conjured up his own version of the Ice Shard attack from earlier.

While not as grandiose or as refined as the Pokémon’s own, the smaller, faster chunks of ice he’d sent screaming through the air caught the Mr. Rime completely unaware—and while it was still reeling from the sudden shock of being hit by an attack, Lars took the chance and threw an empty Pokéball at it.
