[attr="class","danny"]they were happy — they are happy. for the most part, anyways. but he lets his thoughts shift, even more thankful for her presence now. at her suggestion to help, he nods, accepting.

"i'm sure you are but here's your chance to prove it."

his hand guides her towards the kitchen as he ponders what to make. he places the folder on the island, then walks around to pull the fridge open. it's stocked with everything they could possibly need, so their options are plenty.

"you, honestly."

his eyes dip, admiring, but he soon returns it.

"what's your comfort food?"

[attr="class","hearmenand22"]Serena just flashed him a look at his challenge. He wasn't ready for her to throw down in the kitchen. When she got going even Gordon Ramsay himself would be impressed. Maybe that was a stretch, but the point was she was good and that's all that matters. Danny guides her to where the kitchen is located when he answers her previous question. "you, honestly."

Serena laughed playfully punched him in the shoulder as she passed him on her way to wash her hands. "Haven't you had enough of me yet? We we're busy all morning" shaking her head she grabbed the soap and began to run the water. "I'm starting to believe you only want me for my body." she teased as she washed her hands.

"what's your comfort food?" he asked as she made her way to the fridge. "Hmmmm," Serena thought as she tapped her finger against her chin. "Pizza," she answered with a snap of her fingers. "But I wanna make my own. No store bought stuff. Yuck." She bumped his hip with hers to scoot him out of the way so she could take the things she needed from the refrigerator.

She grabbed some grape tomatoes, mozzarella, arugula, and plain greek yogurt from the fridge before bumping it closed with her butt. "I'll make us some flatbread pizza. That sound okay?" she asked as she carried the ingredients in her arm and brought them to the island counter. She then scanned around for the rest of what she needed.

After a bit of searching she managed to grab everything she needed so she started getting to work. "I know you've been....preoccupied," Serena began as she flashed him a knowing smirk, "But did you have a chance to take a look at the document?" She asked as she started mixing things in the bowl for the dough.

"I know you'd said you sign. I just want to make sure there isn't anything listed in there that you're not okay with." she clarifies, "Because, if there is then I could talk to them, y'know?" She quickly mixed together the dough before taking some flour and dusting it on the surface she planned to knead the dough.

A mischievous smirk formed on her lips as she took a dusting of flour on her fingertips. When Danny wasn't paying attention she would smear the flour on his cheek before busting into a fit of laughter. "It's a good look on you." she said in between giggles. "C'mon, help me roll this out." she said as she gestured towards the dough in the bowl.

he's bumped out of the way but it's not like he minds. he chuckles, then leans against the island while he watches her prepare.

at the mention of the document, his eyes shift over to the folder by him. he reaches for it, slides it in front of him, and flips it open. he had read it while sober last night so he remembers most of it, but he skims through real quick to make sure there's nothing odd.

"it all looks okay to me but i guess the only thing i feel weird about is the salary." he hums, running a finger over the printed number. "feels a bit wrong, you know?"

wrong because he genuinely wants to be her boyfriend. he leaves it unsaid but there's enough for her to pick up on, should she wish to.

he's pulled away from his thoughts when she smears flour on his cheek. "is it? i think it'd be nicer in a pair." he swipes some flour onto his finger then reaches over to smear it against her cheek, too, laughing. "there. much better."

at her gesture, he turns towards the dough in the bowl, nodding.

[attr="class","hearmenand22"]"is it? i think it'd be nicer in a pair." he says as he's finally snapped from his thoughts. Serena points a finger at him and shakes her head. "Uh uh. No, you stay over there." she says as she steps away from him. Danny's intentions are clear as he swipes some flour on his fingers and Serena gasps and runs around the island. The chase is short, Danny's faster and has a longer reach but it was fun regardless. Serena laughs the whole time, even when he catches her. "Noooo," she says as he wipes the flour on her cheek.

"there. much better." Danny says laughing along with her. Serena couldn't remember the last time she had so much fun with someone but she definitely was appreciative of these moments. "Alright, alright. The dough." she says pointing to the bowl again. Danny nods and the two of them work to roll it out. Danny would knead the dough, adding more flour on her request as she watched him work. When it was finished and the dough wasn't sticky anymore she had him cut it in 3 pieces.

Meanwhile she left him to grab a skillet and heat it up on the stove. While that was warming up she quickly grabbed another bowl and placed it on the counter. "'Kaaaay," she said as she looked around before snagging a cutting board. "You're gonna take the dough and flatten it till about 1/4" thick." she said before pursing her lips. "I'll do one for you as an example," she said with a chuckle.

She took the dough and flattened it to her desired about before placing it on a plate and handing it back to him. "Put a generous amount of veggie oil in the pan to cook the bread. Two minutes per side and then you flip. Do that till golden, you know the deal." she said with a smile while she pointed at her cutting board and bowl, "I'll work on the toppings."

Just like that the two of them worked, and it all went pretty quickly too. The kitchen was soon filled with fresh aroma that made Serena's stomach growl. She quickly cut up her onions and tomatoes before adding her tomatoes, red onion, olive oil, and oregano to her bowl and began to mix it all together. She seasoned it with salt and pepper. "That's done~" she said as she slid the toppings to the side and began to cut the mozzarella into 1/4" slices for the pizza.

Once she was done and Danny was finished with the bread she smiled. "And here's the fun part. We get to decorate our pizza before putting it in the oven." she said. The two of them added the cheese and tomato and onion mixture to their pizzas. When they were finished she added all 3 to the oven and set a timer for 15 minutes.

Fifteen Minutes Later~

Serena had the pizzas out of the oven and plated soon after letting them cool a bit. She added some finishing touches to the pizzas, which was just adding some arugula and drizzling some balsamic glaze over the pizza's before she gestured to them. "Tadaa! There, done, and they look good. Now taste it and tell me I'm not amazing" she said with a smug grin on her face. She cut a piece for him and held it close. "Say Ahh~" she said with a little dance.

[attr="class","danny"]over the course of preparing the dough to adding the finishing the touches, he realizes what a great teacher she is. he's never made pizza before, let alone knead dough, but with her guidance, he more than manages. he actually excels, perhaps possessing a natural talent in cooking. or just kneading dough.

"i cannot wait i'm starving."

the smell of it in the oven doesn't help as well. but soon enough, the pizza's slid back out of the oven, ready to be eaten.

"good? serena they look fucking amazing."

he sees the smugness in her expression but it doesn't bother him. it never does. he actually loves it. at her dance, he breaks into a smile.

"you're so cute."

he takes the piece in his mouth, eyes widening as he chews.

"yeah, that's amazing. you're amazing."

he leans in to plant a kiss on her cheek.

"do you usually cook when you're at home?"

[attr="class","hearmenand22"]"you're so cute." he says and she winks at him while waiting for him to take a bite. Once he does she studies his expression carefully before nodding with satisfaction at his reaction. "yeah, that's amazing. you're amazing." he says as he leans in to kiss her on the cheek. "Yeah, I know." she says playfully as she hands him his slice of pizza. "It's hard work being this good. I honestly don't know how I do it." she continues but it's just all jokes.

Serena turns to cut her pizza and take a bite. Humming as she did so. It really did turn out pretty damn good. The melted mozzarella with the freshness of the tomato and tang of the balsamic sauce was an explosion of delicious flavors in her mouth. They complimented each other so well, she was more than happy with how they turned out.

"do you usually cook when you're at home?" he asks as she takes another bite. "Mmm," she says as she holds up a finger while she chews. "Not all the time, but I've been trying to do it more often. Otherwise Adrian would order out every night." she says before taking another bite. "I mean," she says as she covers her mouth with her hand while she chews. "I don't mind eating out, but it would be nice to have _something_ in the fridge sometimes." she chuckles. "Guess that's where my mom and are alike. I just can't stand watching him live like that while I'm there."

She shrugs, "And I guess it gives us a reason to spend some time together so it works." She finishes her slice of pizza before realizing Danny hasn't met Adrian so he wouldn't know who she was talking about. "Oh..uh Adrian's my older brother. Guess I didn't talk about him before." she clarifies.

[attr="class","danny"]to his credit, he doesn't show any signs of his panic when he hears the masculine name. naturally, he assumes the worst — assumes that this thing between them only existed within the confines of the contract. he loses himself in his worries and almost misses the things she says.

"oh. older brother. that's cool."

"how lucky for you that your boyfriend enjoys cooking, then."

speaking of, he quickly finishes off his slice, wipes his hands clean, then reaches for the contract. he leaves for a moment to get a pen, and when he returns, he's looming over the contract, pen hovering over paper.

he peers up at her.

[attr="class","hearmenand22"]"oh. older brother. that's cool." he says after a moment and Serena's dark orbs linger on him for a moment. What was that a hint of in his voice? As she chewed on her slice of pizza she pondered on it a bit. Couldn't be jealousy right? It was a little too early for that wasn't it? Maybe she was imagining things. She shrugged it off and continued eating her lunch.

"how lucky for you that your boyfriend enjoys cooking, then." It was certainly nice that he enjoyed cooking. It was more fun cooking with people than on her own anyway. Danny them quickly polished off his slice before leaving the room. Peaking to see where he went, Serena shrugged and went to the cabinet to grab a glass so that she could get some water.

When he came back she had opted for sitting on a bar stool. She had one leg bent to her chest while the other was hanging free to dangle. She rested her arm against the bent leg while she drank her water. He came in the room peering up from the contract with a pen in his hand. "you sure you want this?" he asked her and she placed her cup down on the counter.

She thought for a moment before offering him a smile. "No offense, but I don't really have a choice here." she said with a shrug, "I'm locked in regardless." she said with sigh. "They'll ship me off to be with someone, even if it isn't you." she shook her head. "I'd much rather it be you." she said after a moment looking back at him.

She scratched her cheek before continuing. "I, I know that's probably not the answer you wanted to hear." She offered with an apologetic glance. "Truth is, I don't think I'd be in a relationship if it wasn't for this." it was the truth. And if they were going to be partners he deserved to know how she felt. Just a little bit anyway.

"But," she said as she looked at him. "I do like you. So things are different here." she offered him a small smile. "So I guess I should be the one asking you. Are you sure you want this?" She said as she twirled a piece of her hair around her finger. "No shame if you don't."

[attr="class","danny"]danny doubts that he would ever understand her life nor the troubles that plague her, at least not to the level that he wants to. he understands fame and popularity but that's where it ends. he knows nothing of the pressures that come with it.

but he'll learn it. for her, and for himself.

"i like you, too."

he shakes his head at her apology because it's not needed.

"and for what it's worth — i think you will always have a choice. if you ever want out of ours, just let me know."

his words foreshadow more than he knows.

he spins the pen once then brings it down to the paper, signing.

"i guess i'm now officially yours." he turns, smiling. "how do you feel?"
