Due to the fact that one section of the Shoal Cave was now a mess (no thanks to the Stunfisk’s Fissure attacks) Lars had decided to remain airborne.

While his Altaria had initially expressed shock (and obviously surprise) to see her human companion literally flying alongside her, she took the initial surprise well and eventually calmed down, hovering close to where he currently flew above the cave.

“I swear if I see another one of those things…” he grumbled to himself, taking a turn and heading down a dark passageway.

He didn’t know what he was going to encounter next—hopefully he’d be able to find the rest of what he needed.

The Stunfisk was a…detour, and boy was the snarky voice in his head not amused.

‘Why did you catch that?!’

“What, and have it wreak havoc in the entire cave? Are you insane?” Lars retorted, pinching the bridge of his nose yet again.

“Do you want the only place in all of this region that’s cold enough to house you to come crashing down on your head because of what one stupid Pokémon decided to do on a whim?”

‘No.’

“Then yeah, that was a necessary evil. If Shoal Cave goes, you’re going to have to go into a Pokéball, and I know you don’t like being forced into something so paltry.”

‘Fair.’

The Altaria hummed as she flew forward, none the wiser to the argument happening between Lars and the snarky deity in his head. Although…

She caught sight of a Sneasel, before turning to face him as he was hovering there, pondering about something.

“What—” he began, looking down before shaking his head ever so slightly.

“No, we already have that one. Let’s keep looking.”

Unfortunately the next thing they would come across would be… basically Lars’s worst nightmare come to life.

He had a few seconds warning before the Altaria let out an uncharacteristic shriek before suddenly releasing a blast of concentrated flames at the—

“Nami, what the hell are you doing?” Lars exclaimed before he caught sight of a head that had blonde hair and then—

That face.

That fucking face!

“Ah, shit, I get it,” he said with another sigh, pinching the bridge of his nose before quickly redirecting the Altaria to go in another direction.

“We are not going to catch that. One of them is fucking enough for us.”

The last thing he would encounter for this trip was something—

While it was one of the Ice-types he liked, unfortunately it was already something he had.

His own Aurorus was a rather gentle dinosaur (if one could call it that) and he made it a point not for her to meet his Tyrantrum, Rex—because apparently the two were predator and prey? Or something like that.

“Oh,” he said with a tiny little sigh as he caught sight of the grazing Aurorus. “Well, I can’t take you away from here—pretty sure you have a kid or two running around somewhere.”

With that, he left the Aurorus alone, wondering what else he would be able to encounter.

He knew he was running pretty low on Ice-types he needed to catch and acquire…
