"In the flesh." A crass sounding comment considering the state that Calliope found themselves in after the war. "You'll have to forgive my lack of perception." Sebastian tilted his head towards her, showing off the eyepatch that covered his missing eye before scooping up the glass of bourbon before him. 

    "Age hasn't touched you a day." He brought the glass to his lips, taking a deep drink before speaking again. "How did you manage to escape?"

"Sorry to hear that, Callie." Sebastian had been acquainted with Maggie on more than one occasion, knowing the sweetness and comfort that was provided by her sister. "Arceus look over her." A solemn look overtook his face, muttering something underneath his breath. "Leave a light on for me." Some sort of prayer, or plead to the deities that presided over the dead.

"I feel bittersweet to know that another of my acclaim is alive." Sebastian reached a gloved hand over to gently touch the burned part of her face, the sadness evident on his face. "You lost more than I ever could know."

"I wish I knew." Sebastian responded with a dire look in his eye, bringing his hand down to the drink before him to raise the liquor to his lips. "I was captured and held prisoner for months by the enemy." Memories were fresh in his mind, though only of his own experiences. "I had to accept my fate as one of them carved the eye out of my head." 

Grip tightened around the glass, threatening to fracture the delicate material in his hand. "They killed all but two of my Pokémon. I only escaped because of the insurgent attack on the base where I was being held." Goddamn did he feel useless. "Waded through blood and dirt and bone until I ended up here, didn't look back."

"Glad to be alive, mostly." There was always the thought that the grass was greener on the other side. "Death is easy, life is hard." He mused, taking another sip of the glass in front of him. "I don't need to tell you that, though." She'd been through hell and back, somehow managing to carry on despite everything.

    "Been keeping yourself busy in Hoenn?" He couldn't imagine she'd been flaunting her former champion status, considering that Rocket would likely still want her dead.

"I've done my best with the money I was able to smuggle over from Kanto." Sebastian procured a pack of cigarettes from his belongings, sliding one out for himself before offering the carton to Calliope. "I'm attempting to keep a low profile, so I can't use my past as a crutch for employment." 

A soft sigh escaped his lips, igniting the end of his cigarette with a lighter before sliding it over in her direction should she have taken one for herself. "Toxicology isn't exactly the most sought after profession."
