[break]Pokemon were everywhere, one but needed to take a step into the great outdoors and expose themselves to the elements, and they could be found.[break][break]

A shame his parents had thought to deny him this simple pleasure.[break][break]

Aedan, bound to Rustboro by his parents' will, rarely got to see any further in the world than Meteor Falls. And ever since the Megalopolan incident nearly half a year ago, he'd been instructed by his parents not to explore even the ruins of his childhood, forced into spending much of his time locked away in his room. Until one night when he decided to break out, driven by his rebellious tendencies.[break][break]

Much of the wonder and luster of the falls had since been lost. As he stalked through the exposed entrance of the antechamber, he recognized that many areas had been torn open by the Megalopolans and their struggle against the League. In doing so, they had spoiled one of his favored locales. He felt loss.[break][break]

But there was still much and more left to leave a child full of wonder, the cerulean pools of the cave glinting with starlight, punctuated by the chorus of nincadas. Yet for all of it, the place seemed desolate, with hardly a critter to be seen.[break][break]

Then Aedan would just have to look harder. Nothing else to it.

As if some twist of fate, what seemed to be quite the antithesis to Aedan had wandered her way to Meteor Falls—Cat had found herself attracted to the mysterious, luminescent caverns once more after her last visit with Lilith. The place was pretty, and everywhere Cat looked once she was in its depths, there was always something interesting to look at! That aside, she'd found rather wonderful pokémon in her last visit, and she wanted to look for more![break][break]

Cat herself was a rather free spirit, living her dream going off on a pokémon adventure in a completely new region to herself. She'd bounded along into the caverns, her Perrserker, Björn closely padding behind her. The Perrserker had been just a regular Meowth the last time he'd been here, yet, he'd landed himself in the usual self-appointed position of rushing desperately from keeping his trainer from hurting herself by accident, with her eyes on her surroundings and not her own feet. Yet at every near-potential accident, Cat had always managed to seem to twist or stop just beforehand. Her energetic bounces always somehow managing to stop short of some sort of harm, on one occasion Björn nearly falling over, himself in one attempt to keep his trainer safe. No rest for the wicked, perhaps.[break][break]

It hadn't been long before Cat had found herself an aspect of the luminous caverns she hadn't come across last time—a boy with brilliant orange hair! She'd waved incessantly, calling out, "Hi there! Are you a trainer, or are you lost?" she'd said with a quaint smile, bouncing up and down at each emphatic motion of her arm.

"O-o-oi! Don't just shout like that!" Aedan swallowed down the lump in his throat, giving himself a moment for composure before responding in turn.[break][break]

"I'm a trainer. My name's Aedan." Who're you?[break][break]

He might've wanted to ask, but he was quickly on the defensive, knowing full well he shouldn't be sneaking around at night against his parents' wishes. Not that every stranger that chanced upon him would know that, but it left him jumpy.[break][break]

"Whyddya ask?" Normally Rikki tagged along beside him, so he might've seemed less prepared than most, perhaps in need of rescuing. She probably meant well.

Cat had nearly stopped in her tracks at the boy's startled response—she'd been caught off guard, perhaps he was lost and scared? Though that quickly had made itself apparent that it wasn't the case, the boy's change in stances and emotion having been rather amusing to Cat, who'd made it apparent with an eye-shutting cheery giggle.[break][break]

"Just wanted to know if I needed to be your knight in shining armor, Jumpy," she'd said, quickly coining a rather silly nickname for Aedan from their first interaction, "My name's Catalina! Though a lot of people just call me Cat or Kitty," she'd quickly introduced herself, closing the distance between them with an exaggeratedly silly bound whilst offering her hand to shake.[break][break]

"Well, since you're not lost, and you're a trainer... does that mean you're looking for pokémon? Ooo, mind if I join? I came here before, but there was just so many! I couldn't help but come again and see them all!" She'd quickly broke off into a tangent, making her own connections and quickly expressing her excitement, she'd closed in even further—eyes glittering with excitement, and hands planted on the boy's shoulders. It seemed Cat wanted to explore the place with her new jumpy acquaintancee, and it probably would have been hard to say no to her.

[break]"Uhhh... okay." He wasn't in a position to refuse her in a public space, though he would've considered it creepy were it nearly anyone else. Yet her eccentrics made her appear genuine, even as she invaded his personal space and ushered him forward together. As they traipsed ahead, fumbling through the moonlit falls, they would eventually spot a whooper caught in a whirlpool, although it seemed oblivious to the threat. Happily at play, like on a merry-go-round at the park.[break][break]

"Look, there's a Wooper." They were dopey, lovable pokemon, and that made them a perfect fit for Aedan. It wasn't immediately clear until after he'd hurled a pokeball at it that the whirlpool was induced by another pokemon. A Kingdra broke through the surface, examining the overworld for signs of the interlopers.[break][break]

It squinted at Aedan before aiming its HYDRO PUMP at him. Oh no!

"Oh jeez," Cat had jumped into action, noticing the Kingdra rearing to attack poor ol' Jumpy Aedan. She'd tossed out a poké ball towards her new acquaintance, a brilliant burst of red light shimmering into the form of a Duraludon, "Take the hit and fight back with a Metal Burst! He doesn't look very friendly, Koloss!" She'd quickly shouted out, the Duraludon heeding his trainer's intent, bracing itself to protect Jumpy. Whilst splashes of water made it past, the frame of the tower-shaped dragon had taken most of the force from the high pressure jet of water, most wash-off ending up a simple spray that may have splashed Aedan if he wasn't careful, but overall harmless otherwise![break][break]

Following through on the second command, the Duraludon had shone in a blinding white light, converting the damage it had brunted into a Metal Burst that charged within its visage, firing off towards the Kingdra in a silvery ray.[break][break]

With the Kingdra subdued somewhat with the force if its own Hydro Pump returned back, or at least, reeling from the counterattack, Cat had thrown a poké ball at the Kingdra in hopes to capture it, "Uh, just in case, let's get ready to run in case it breaks out, Jumpy?" she'd suggested, calling out to Aedan.

[break]"I think we're good." He'd point to the orb in the dim light, watching it wiggle faintly before relenting. Sometimes, a pokemon wanted to be caught. Either that, or some were just awfully terrible at breaking out. Aedan had never been captured, so he couldn't speak from experience, but he doubted it was easy.[break][break]

"Let's keep looking around," Aedan would insist, feeling safer in numbers. Without waiting for a response he allowed a swift, steady gait to carry him deeper into the falls. When Cat finally caught up with him, she'd find him observing a Dewott breaking open Shellder on a Druddigon's rough skin before sharing the meat between them. "Wow... I wonder how rare that is," he thought out loud.

Breathing a sigh of relief as she went to collect the poke ball and her Duraludon—"Yeah, whooooo, that was kinda tense, huh Jumpy?" Cat had laughed. She'd smiled, following along rather brusquely behind Aedan ready to help him out in a time of duress—an ironic statement, at least in her Perrserker's eyes, considering the leaps and bounds he usually goes through worrying when Cat would do something somewhat dangerous for the sake of slaking her curiosity.[break][break]

When the trainers had happened upon the Dewott and the Druddigon sharing a meal, Cat had mixed feelings about the situation—to start with, that was the most adorable thing she'd seen in Hoenn thus far, her hands up to her mouth, her fingers jittery with her unable to calm herself, it was so unfair how cute it was seeing the two wild pokémon share a meal like that! What more, she'd wanted both of them yet doubted one would stay around if the other was caught. Overall she didn't want to startle them, but she'd also wanted to join in with them, "mmmmrgh... you know what, maybe not, I'd feel bad," she'd sighed and relented. She just couldn't with good conscious separate the two pokémon just enjoying their hard earned friendship and meal.

When he tried to grab at it, the creature scampered just out of reach, before diving back in to play with him. All of this preoccupied him from paying anymore attention to the Dragonair.

Cat had smiled at the fact that Jumpy had reciprocated her desire to keep the two pokémon together, continuing onwards as she remained mesmerised by the almost other-worldly cavern that they were exploring. She couldn't help but wonder how exactly Meteor Falls practically shone in such an odd colour.[break][break]

Though as the two came upon the Dragonair—and Aedan had been distracted by a wild Buizel—Cat hadn't noticed that Aedan actually had been eyeing up the Dragonair, only noticing that he was playing with the Buizel. She'd smiled with wonder, very much so interested in catching the Dragonair—she'd only ever seen their kind in books or pictures before—she'd quickly tossed a ball at the dragon pokémon hoping to catch it off guard and capture it without any complications.[break][break]
